    This has such meaningful content and I a sure that almost every one of us needs to begin curating some of the photos that have collected. It would be such a great feature if somehow we could drag and drop existing folders! I still need to work on creating sub folders and further tips on photos would be welcomed. Thank you for such a well chosen topic.

      You're welcome. Keeping my photos organized in some meaningful way makes sense to me. And I guess we think alike. Thanks so much for watching!

    Hi Rich, I really enjoy your videos, so easy to understand. Have you covered using an SSD with newer iPads that have a USB3 connection?

      I've not. But I've been thinking about doing an accessory video to show folks the different ways peripherals can be used with the iPad. Thanks for the great idea!

    Thank you Rich for your videos like a lot of people you have taught me a great deal. Some very useful tips that without you, i would never of known and not made to most out of my ipad and pencil. However I have followed your steps of folder but cannot get my 2020 folder to be inside my years one so to speak. no matter what i do it remains down the list with all my others although i am creating a new folder in years. Maybe its because i am using ipad pro i dont know. Please keep up the good work kay

    This was a great review of how to create albums! Question: where did you get your lamp that sits behind you? Love your channel! Mandy from Tucson🌵

      I got the lamps to my right and left both on Amazon. I think they help with the background a bit.

    Thank you so much Rick! How do you reduce all of your duplicates to only one copy? Also how do you keep photos you send as text messages from using up space? Thank you

  • @swimfit57
    @swimfit57 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great Ideas! Question when you make a folder does it move the pictures to the folder or just copy them?

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve! Even when you put a photo in a folder, it still shows up in the library. It doesn't actually make a copy for the folder, it makes a reference link back to the original photo. So creating folders and adding pics to them doesn't use up a lot of hard drive space or create duplicates.

    If you organize all your photos on your iPad, how can you then transfer that structure to your iPhone or other Apple devices?

    For anyone who knows, is it possible to sync only one particular album to sync between your iPhone and iPad? I need to do this. I don’t want to sync all my pictures. Just pictures in one particular album. Please help 🙏🏼

    I’ve been wanting to know how to organize my pictures for years, Rick! My heart leapt when I saw the topic of today’s video. Yes, it will take time, but what a great use this will be of a rainy afternoon (or two, or three). Thank you for sharing this information. I’m going to share the video with friends.

      Wow Thanks! Yes - I wish there were ways to do it quickly but as of now, it's a but time-consuming. But I took a trip down memory lane going through all of my photos. So it was actually kind of fun. Thanks so much for watching!

    Have only just found you on TH-cam. Thank you so much for making your vlogs simple and easier to follow.Hhave learnt quite a lot. Can you please do a video on Apple Carplay please. Every other vlog I have seen are too buzy swiping forward and backwards while they are talking that I cannot follow. Being a Senior does have it downsides sometimes in that we cannot absord technology as quickly as younger generation and they cannot understand why not

    I have 100,000 photos in 4,000 folders nested 6 levels deep...example: plants:Nova Scotia:trees:conifers:pines: (single files with convention of 2023 09 11 Pinus strobus White Pine Baddeck, with bark beetle inat .....so I am guessing I have just wasted thousands thinking there is no way this can be done efficiently in Apple with the 10-12,000 photos I take a year then process and use for online teaching? I hear so many "professionals" say they use Apple...how can I do this? I save time by using folders (searching for folders) and searching for the "tags" in the file names. I would not have any time for teaching (eating, sleeping, etc.) if there were not more efficient ways to move and select files easily, move from computer to computer, and find what I need (I am using "everything" a fast search utility now, and can usualy get what I need.

    Thanks for your help on editing my photos…or at least some of them… one thing I just recently learned how to do and possibly you have already covered this in one of your tutorials (I have just now subscribed for more help for Seniors) was having a photo sent to me from someone ‘s selfie in a mirror who is wearing a t-shirt with script on it and the wording on it is reversed! I had to Goggle it to find out how to edit the photo to be able to read it !!! But again, really thank you! I was able to crop old photos that I had taken a picture of while having it on my lap!

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome. Glad you were able to figure out the reverse text trick. I've not covered that in any other video. Thanks so much for watching!

    Great video! Can you erase any original after they are placed in an album? I’d really like to place them in a folder & remove the original to make storage space. Thanks for the detailed info.

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No need to worry about storage. When you put them in a folder it's not making a copy. It's just an internal link to the photo in the Library. You can never delete the Library. But if you delete a phot from the library it's gone forever. If you delete to from a folder it's still in the Library. Hope this makes sense!

    Question, I made the mistake of saving some photos to my laptop (not Apple) and deleting them from my device. I can’t find them now yet they are supposed to be saved in ICloud. Any idea how to get those to show up on the iPad again? Thank you.

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  ปีที่แล้ว

      If there saved on a non-Apple laptop they might not have synced with iCloud. Or you laptop might not be connected to iCloud. You could always email the photos to yourself and open them on the iPad and then save them to Photos. Hope this helps!

  • @lynnjames8986

    I don’t have the app for photos. I don’t have the “for you,the favorite, the best friends , places, or the all album or folders ,” I do have the library but nothing else and there are no place that gives me a choice of creating anything, or if it is I don’t see it. Help!! I feel so stupid!

      Hi! Sorry you're having trouble. My guess is you need to update your iPad software. You can do that by going into Settings>General. From there you can tap on Software Update and follow the onscreen instructions. It really not that hard! I hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching!
