I got a halo VI from DJ gates and the quality is outstanding. I posted a video of it on a fb michrotech group page and got called all kinds of names for it being a fake. These guys on in this group seem to think they are gods of the knife lovers. In all what the hell is the difference between the two?
@@TMH78 dHgate. I've gotten them from wish and aliexpress, but wish has the option for quick domestic delivery which is awesome. The wish ones seem a bit nicer. One has MT branding on the blade, they all have the sweet logo on the grip
Not the same one.... the one you're talking about doesn't have the super sweet compound edge grind or the Marfione Custom style fire button and charging handle. Also tbh it's pretty shit in terms of quality. I bought one way earlier this year just due to how cheap it was, but that's around $50 I definitely should have saved. I've bought hundreds of eastern counterfeits of various high end production, midtech, and custom manufacturers over the years so as to keep up with certain trends and patterns within their design and construction. I used to buy, sell, and trade high end blades back in the day both as a hobby and as a sort of secondary source of supplemental income, and for the most part the people I did business with were honest, straight shooting, all around decent people with whom I've since built a powerful rapport founded on a fundamental respect of both the hobby and our fellow man. However there were still plenty of individuals out there looking to pull one over on some poor ignorant sap, and with a bulk of the business being done online via something like an online auction site or through various social media, this opens one up to a vast multitude of potential unscrupulous individuals with nefarious intentions. Especially when just doing private sales through social media... The auction sites and market sites at least provide a couple extra layers of protection, but with social media any follow through is entirely dependent on trust. Too many cases of people getting screwed with the ultimate outcome rendering nothing but economic loss. Too easy for someone to just disappear, especially when using PayPal and the payment is delivered via the "Friends and Family" option rather than "Goods and Services". In many cases people will send the payment this way to both avoid the stupid fees and treat it as sort of a gesture of good faith. Unfortunately some super shitty people will exploit this and there's absolutely no seller protection in such circumstances. The "G&S" option offers protection on both ends, however it seems to operate on a pretty heavy bias rather in favor of the buyer in my experience. At any rate, my point is that I had to get just as familiar with the counterfeit products as I am with the legitimate ones - if not more so - in order to avoid someone trying to pass off the $80 to $120 fake as the real thing and prevent myself and my fellow merchants from losing out hundreds upon hundreds of dollars per individual product unit. This was particularly important involving any manner of bulk exchanges, as I'm sure you could only imagine lol. It was also important to get mighty familiar with all the relevant packaging for any particular brand and/or model. Believe it or not I saved myself a world of pain once or twice by recognizing counterfeit packaging. One case in which a friend and I went in on a deal together had the actual knives themselves turn out to be some of the absolute best fakes I've ever seen, actually produced of some genuinely decent quality too. I mean, the only thing on them that was off were the pivot screws diameter and the width between the inner frame walls which was only off by like 1.15 mm exactly. Frankly it all almost got past me, but the packaging was just a bit too screwy for me. The shipper boxes were basically just like the ones you'd get at the post office, no branding or manufacturer SKU labels on em' like you'd normally see. The individual product packaging had a packaging color otherwise associated with a different model series that this particular manufacturer produced at the time, and that's what really made me go "now hold on ricky-fuckin-tick there, Spanky..." When I asked the dude what the deal was, his entire demeanor instantly changed. He went from being our buddy and being 'Mr. Helpful' to reeeeaaaal quiet and fidgety while my friend and I stepped aside to talk so I could voice my concerns to him. Then when we started asking more questions the dude began getting all defensive and shit, even getting belligerent and trying to say it was just a factory mistake and thats why they're cheaper than usual and that they couldn't be sold retail because of the packaging error, due to the manufacturer not allowing their sale to customers with the mistake, then how they couldn't send them back because of some billing cycle bullshit and how their warehouse inventory would get all fucked up if they just removed all packaging and sold them as display/demo pieces which would screw with their quarterly revenue, ALLL this nonsense that was admittedly pretty believable in and of itself and likely would have worked if it wasn't primarily my friend's whole deal and his reputation, not to mention mostly his money on the line. Not to mention the fact that this dudes whole delivery of the info was super disjointed and sporadic. Like he would tell us one particular fact/piece, then walk off to the other side of lobby and pace back amd forth while the two of us talked and made some calls. Then dude would pop back over randomly and be like "oh yeah I forgot to add this... blah blah blah", and each new bit he would come over to us with seemed really... scripted? Like he definitely thought of all this shit ahead of time, only he didn't rehearse any of it whatsoever and was so sure of his success he left his cheat notes at home, so now he's kinda wingin it. Yeah, it just all felt fuckin off m8 haha. Short story long, turns out this dude was actually wanted by the FUCKIN' A.T.F. AND THE F.B.I. for trafficking in stolen goods, some money laundering bullshit, tax fraud, some other finance/economic crimes as well as some state level offenses involving unpaid fines and missed court appearances for past minor drug trafficking charges. He's also now tied up in some more recent court activity for an ongoing case that has recently had some new evidence brought forward, now"allegedly" tying him to a mysterious death a few years back. The evidence presented apparently links both this dude to the individual's death and the strong potential that there may have been foul play involved specifically to result in the victim's demise and to cover it up. Idk, at least that's what my buddy now tells me. I just tell him that's the last time I let him manage a business deal lel.
@@jaketheripper7385 holy shit that's quite an in-depth look at the underworld side. I got a bunch of dirt in one and had to take it apart, they're pretty simple to clean and rebuild. You know, Microtech has lifetime warranty as long as you dont open it up. I sent one of my MT OTFs in 2 yrs ago, my 07, Makora II for a new spring. Cost me a few bucks shipping and under 2 wks turn around time. So, it doesn't bother me that they dont include an extra spring since opening it will avoid the lifetime warranty. The knockoff has no lifetime warranty. It's a 1 time sale pkg. That's how Chinese businesses operate.
You should try wish ! The halo 6 clone is like$ 76.00 ! They aren't passed ass real ones ! By anyone ( have only heard of one time but it eas an accident and quickly fixed ) ! That's why I only collect clones of stupid high priced knives like marfione reeves medford and a few others ! The funny thing is the companies never say anything about the clones ! That I have heard !
As someone who has spent some years balls deep in the market as part of a secondary income (I used to buy, sell, and trade high end production, midtech, and custom blades as a bit of a part time job, had a little online store and shit), as well as consistently actively collecting for almost 15 years, I can tell you that $800 for two knives is actually something I would consider to be a decent haul. Granted I would have the amount split a bit more evenly between two low to mid level midtechs or two limited edition high-end production models or some shit. Out of that $800 bones, he likely sunk between $650 and $700 into the legit MT Halo. Personally I wouldn't shell out much more than $50 to $75 tops for any manner of far east counterfeit blade, and it would have to be a particular piece I personally really like. Only because I go through knives in a similar fashion to which I would go through socks. Any of the Chlones will be stuck with any initial buyer in almost every instance, so when I do get one I make sure it's something I can always be at least somewhat fond of and something capable of being modified/customized to a degree so I don't ever get bored with it.
