As a 335IS owner my opinion on straight piping the exhaust makes it sound like any other 2007-2010 N54 out there. However...keeping the stock IS mufflers on, going with catless downpipes, and replacing the secondary cats with vibrant resonators keeps that beautiful IS twin turbo symphony that distinguishes the IS from a non-IS.
I still have the stock 335is exhaust. But I normally just run a dump half way out the bottom when I wanna have crazy turbo sound and wanna be "annoying"

When I put a new n54 in i definitely will but..... 😅 rightnow the rod bearings said no.
Something people don’t know a real 335is is only 2012 and 2011 it was the n55 because the f10 535i was the first car to get the n55 and 2012 the is had the n55 as well and e93 suspension bmw used the n54 from 2007-2010 anything after 2011 is a n55 my friend has a 2011 335i e90 and it’s a n55 the main difference is one is electronic wastegate and one is mechanical wastegate
A 335is is a 2011-2013 e9x with a retuned n54 and a DCT. This information is on the internet the 335is never had a n55 in it. 335's 2011-2013 that are not 335is's have n55. If you have any questions dm me on Instagram. I can explain more if you would like. These cars are complicated so I understand your confusion.

I didn't expect to like my e93 335i as much as I do. I just wanted a cheap daily until I replace my F80 M3. I had to start a build series for my N54. Great car.

Do a acceleration in comfort mode I’m curious to hear the difference in shifts.
There is only normal or sport and the only difference is that you get a slight burble in between

I don't know much about n55 but im pretty sure its a little more reliable than the n54. But iv heard its a little harder to make power.

I have a set of pipes that does and one that doesn't.I change between them constantly 😂

Iv heard it just makes it louder. I don't know personally. But there is definitely a difference wen I have my short pipes that dump about 3 feet behind the catless downpipes and when I have my normal exhaust with secondary cats only

@3.09 ,you dont have a BOV, you have stock recirc /divertor valves which arnt connected to the inlet ,suprised no one noticed
Yea i wasn't running any crazy boost so I just have them cut and it gives off a crazy sound. I changed them to much shorter tubes a little after this video

How reliable was it to you
Rob bearings went bad and destroyed the engine but the car had 130k on then engine and 30k was running map 7 on e85 and I drove it hard. But I'm putting together a great build "6466😉,built engine"
@@e92addict2 oh damn that’s unfortunate any reasons why or they just went bad? like did you do all the maintenance and it still did that?
They BMW dealership that took the engine apart said it was probably from not letting the engine warm up before driving hard. Which makes me belive it was the previous owner who originally damaged the car because I wouldn't go over 3k until I was at the proper temp. It was also a repo car so they might have stopped carrying when they could nolonger afford it

No problem✊🏽If your trying to run big power or just have a super reliable daily the N54 can be a great engine. Just have to do the correct maintenance. There are alot of aftermarket options to stop the big problems at this point and in my opinion it is way easier to make power on a n54 than n55. I knew the engine was gunna go eventually but I just didn't think it was gunna be as soon as it was or as bad as it was. I had this single build planned before I drove the car off the lot.

Someone said it . Unfortunately the straight piped exhaust on this car sounds like shit. Even with resonators it still sounds raspy
