    what a difference with correct Tyre pressure , 35psi no wonder she got stuck, her eyes probably light up now on how little effort with 18psi

    Great to see road tyres being used on a sand island, nothing like being prepared

    Nice video, I'm sure you have heard it before, its better to free spool the winch cable out than to use the remote to spool the cable out. There is a brake in the drum that stops the cable from spooling out if the winch looses power during a recovery and spooling it out with the remote works against that brake and can burn out the motor over time.

    Have had Treds for over 10 years and used on lots of other 4x4's (drive a Patrol so don't really need them). As good as Maxi's.

    Never fully do a d-shackle up as it can bind and is then impossible to undo. Why do people run on the beach with such high tyre pressures...

  • @petemoran1788
    @petemoran1788 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Mostly driver error, 35psi asking for trouble. I have a stock Grand Cherokee and with 18psi I've been most places on Fraser. Even Awinya Creek, now there's a challenge. So don't knock the Jeep too much. No one likes a know it all.

    no winch,maxrtax, air pump off road tyres , lift, recovery gear, the list goes on, just because it is a 4 wheel drive means it can go anywhere

  • @rossprivate5456
    @rossprivate5456 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    that track where theyre bogged is the result of fuckwits who dont lower their tyre pressure or heroes in v8 landcruisers who have to show the world how awesome their cruiser is and spin the wheels all the way wherever they go leaving the track behind them rutted and filled with loose sand.the cruiser boys then like to sit atop the nearest dune and watch everyone else struggle

      Oh yeah. I couldn't agree more. I've got an io pajero with a whopping 86 Kw, and it has been all the way to the champagne pools with no probs. Everyone seems to love other people's misery. Good call mate. May i also say people 16 PSI ON SAND. just because your vehicle is worth 100k, doesn't mean it won't get bogged.

    Anoya chaps. Did I hear that Jeep's tyres were on 35psi? What!!!!! Actually, I can't say too much because I was guilty of that myself on Frazer Island AND towing a camper trailer too (gulp!!!). In my defense, I did have a shovel & a compressor on-board but my old tyre gauge was lying to me. So I got bogged. Luckily a friendly camper sorted me out with a digital gauge & we deflated. Sweet as after that. Tyre pressure & correct speed was the lesson I learnt. ;-)

    It's a shame, so many people drive their 4wd vehicles on sand and have no clue what driving on sand is all about. They don't deserve these cars. Not airing down and the wrong kind of tires are your worse enemy .
    Overall, loved the video.

      She was trying her luck. Saw a guy try in a series 1 200 series try and go through there on 33" tires and 44psi. Tore the track to shit house and cost us a trip to the light house. The bastard refused to let his tires down. I came close to smacking him in the head with my folding shovel that day. All we got for helping him was a warm can of xxxx. Bloody unAustralian. He was an Aussie too.

    The bag over the cable is a waste of time, there’s a channel here who tested breaking cables and the bag made zero difference to a cable whipping when it breaks. They even used test dummies and a cable with a bag over it took the dummies’ arm off.

  • @laughingluke

    The jeep did all right, I thought, until it got held up by the bogged 4wd in front. But then they didn't have the tyres down etc, then no wonder.
