Update. So it’s been about a week and a half since I use this balancer to mount for 235/75R 15 six pi tires for my Dodge Dakota. I’m out of them on aluminum Dodge wheels using stick on weights. I’ve been driving in town country roads and doing interstate driving at 75. Tires seem to be fine.
Nice that you have a lathe :) It would have helped sort out the eccentricity of the outer surface of the cone to the pivot point for me th-cam.com/video/zEBYJvfL0b8/w-d-xo.html My HF balancer did not work well enough for me. If you keep going with your balancer I think there is value to setting / shimming the post so it is vertical. Gave up on the HF as it had so many issues. I ended up going a different direction. Using a steel ball on a flat & level steel surface th-cam.com/video/WgjNO2gt3xg/w-d-xo.html and then later on th-cam.com/video/WgjNO2gt3xg/w-d-xo.html
