I bought one of these Chinese copies about 10 years ago. I couldn't get consistent indications. I believe a shaft with a cone and low friction bearings is better, Snap-On Tools used to sell them, and similar but smaller versions are used for Motorcycle tire's are available on Amazon, the same idea is used to static balance aircraft propellor's.
I tried drilling on mine and it helps with the friction, BUT I can never get consistent results when I rotate the wheel on the balancer to double check balance. It seems perfectly balanced, then I rotate it 1/4 turn and its off. Another quarter turn and so on as I rotate 360. Results seem to be always inconsistent.
@@JustMe-gx4xti balanced mine 2 weeks ago and tested it up to 90mph and it’s perfect. When I rotated the tires to confirm the weight…it was not perfect but close enough so I proceeded to install it.
What mm and length bolt did you use? Also after gluing the bolt in did you drill a very small pilot hole at the head for the pin to sit in? I couldn't tell from the video as it was too fast at this part.
I have drilled my hole through the head but the hole is slightly wonky and not perfectly straight through the head. Does this matter or should i throw it into the skip. This was a last ditch effort for me before skipping it.@@vtimou5772
I managed to get my hands on an old replex oil filled bubble balancer paid £40 for it. But it doesnt work there seems to be a friction problem underneath the head and gave up.@@vtimou5772
I'm on the look out for a usa made vintage one but there mega money and not really worth importing it and finding out something is wrong with it later. Been struggling with this for a while.
My bubble balancer is annoying as crap. When I put a tire on it, it just sticks. Whether it's the springs or something... that's what it does. Mine is incredibly inaccurate.
even with that mod,,,it will not be 100% accurate,....but very close,,,did a test and put the wheel on a real balance at a shop...and my weight was 3in off

Some people drill with a 3/8” bit to make the hole where the pin rest under the bubble bigger. Apparently it works good. Did you try that first?
no it wont...metail is to soft
@@vtimou5772😂
We both know it works great. Lol

Do you get consistent balance results when you rotate the wheel on the balancer? I cannont get repeatable results.
yes but it still not perfect

yes you need to drill or punch a small pilot hole in center of bolt,,,,you can use any bolt size ...i will come back with the size i used

just bought a vintage usa balancer and it works as it should!!!!@@damonpowell2508
Did you really put the weights on the outside of the rim??
no ..this is just to mark to location..
@@vtimou5772 Oh ok. I thought it would be weird to stick them there

i just started using balancing beads instead
antifreeze is good too
Have you tried balancing tire with fix a flat inside the wheel? lol
yes in my truck...but in winter it freez...and shake like crazy...better with antifreez ( engine coolant )
