Years ago, back in the '90s, I had a customer who used Joy dishwashing liquid FULL STRENGTH to "spot clean" her carpets. I tried unsuccessfully to break her from it. Eventually, they went their own way and I went mine. I did not have that powdered defoamer even available to me at the time since I didn't know any of the larger distributors like Jondon. I don't use the powdered stuff hardly ever anymore, but when you need it you REALLY need it!!! I do keep some on the van at all times just in case. I did another job where people actually had indoor/outdoor carpets in their carport area of all places. They had used TIDE to clean it and asked me to clean it with my machine. Was not fun.
I can remember is having a defoamer many years ago for some reason, but I cannot even remember what it might have been made from. I'm going to have to ask my dad if he remembers 😊. He will be 87 on Tuesday... That puts things in perspective of how long we've been doing this 😁

Lol... It's been a long time running joke in the industry in the past. I like to just pick back on the haters past and present. No one specific I could name anymore, but it's something I proved at a convention in Vegas with one of my Butlers in the battle of the direct drives 😊

One time I was helping family by cleaning their carpet, they'd used so much of something that it became so foamy that I actually had to mix defamer into the clean tank and rinse with that, what a mess!

Quick question do you use water ou rinse solution when you clean the carpets?
Thank you so much! We do use our Deep Blue All Purpose All Fiber Rinse. It's a 4.7 pH with a little Cleanability also. Smells great in the jug and hardly any real describable scent when using it. 😊

Reminded of a job i had when I was first starting to clean carpet, Sculptured berber. They had someone else do the cleaning prier and were not happy with the results. They thought they could do a better job with an Electrolux shampoo system. They proudly said that they used the shampoo and added very LITTLE water. One square foot at a time I had to lift the wand to empty the hose of foam, was using defoamer also.
I had one similar. A traveling vaccum sales man went to a customers house... With a Berber also 😁. The guy was also brand new doing the demo. What a mess! The homeowners were not happy and were on the phone with us pretty quick. It was a nightmare really to try and fix 😬

Excellent guys, what a difference, especially in the soaped up room. Brings back memories.. in early 80's I was with a small company, got a call that turned out to be sprinkled with powder laundry detergent, wall to wall. We turned it down, then a couple years later I was with Stanley, talking with the crew about it, turns out the guy called them after we left, they turned it down too. If I knew then what I know now I would have just charged him good to compensate for my time and efforts and done the job.
