It's a very unusual synth. It can be turned into a drum machine if this is your intention, Loopop has got a great video about that. When I bought it, my main motivator was the price, I got it on Kijiji for $260 CAD (and I needed a portable groovebox-ish type synth as a companion to the DJ mixer). But after discovering some of its less-than-obvious hidden features, years later it became one of the synths I own that I'm the least likely to sell in the next long while and that is despite having other grooveboxes.
Yeah, always kinda liked these but the constant updates etc just make it more tempting. Your demos are always really focused on usability too, which is cool. Thank you.
Novation comes closer to elektron territory, a litle bit less « deeply » into the per step possibilities BUT in such an easier way.....i dont own (yet) a circuit or a mono station but i’m impressed how much these machines evolve on every update. Thx for the video, cheers
What I love about Novation is that they keep working to improve their gear. Now that the Mono Station is $100 less than when it was introduced, I'm interested. I'd love to see you use it in conjunction with your Eurorack rig. That said, this was a good demo.
That's sick, also if you only own a chromebook you can fully update this from the cloud without them telling you to buy a Mac just to update your hardware roms.
What about third sequencer? I would like to know how to make it work - sequencing my Korg Monologue. Is it possible via MIDI IN is slave unit? What to do to have, not 2 sequences, but three - after firmware update... ehhh... problems... i love synths.
Not sure what you are asking for exactly, but as I've come to understand it, it works like this: by default, Mono station sends out Midi note data mirroring the sequencer of Osc1. With the latest firmware, you can choose to send note data from either Osc1 or Osc2. The mod sequencer can only send to CV out. The mono station can be used as slave, and will pass on any incoming midi data via Midi-thru. It will send midi clock and start/stop via Midi-out, (even as slave) but only when the sequencer is running. Yes, you can sequence your monologue, but not independently from both of it's own oscillators.

All that nob wiggling during patch flip only effects the patch momentarily right? When I try to record automation it doesn't seem to be retained. The patch just reverts next time round. Do you know any way around that?
Meh... someone told me the update added drums and I thought I might consider a future purchase, but these sounds definitely aren't convincing to me. If someone else likes them, more power to them, but it's not enough to catch my interest.

Love how the analogue sound makes the synth have the texture of sampled vinyl.

This is an analogue mono synth. The original circuit uses samples, and you can upload your own.
Does the machine not have analogue functionality out of the box?
I’m hoping to use it without a computer, initially anyway.
