Total newbie questions: 1. Can the patch save feature save MicroBrute patches and make that machine's workflow more efficient? 2. How does this compare to the OP-Z's functionality, it seems like a "bigger, more obvious" set of buttons in a less mobile package. Thanks!
TBH as much as I like the Circuit as a gateway drug to synths, to me the Mono represents missed opportunities. My perfect mono station: - no sequencer - grid with cv jacks/attenuators on x and y to form modmatrix - grid x/y has pre-defined internal routing, cv overrides - usb host mode to hook up a Circuit for sequencing (or any other device) - make it truly bi-directional: Mono CV input -> Circuit Macro 1
Very interesting breakdown. I'm listening to early jungle at the moment, just to hear twisted speeded up jazz drum samples. There is so much potential in creating interesting rhythm tracks, it's literally never ending. Cool vid man.

this thing has interested me from the start but its price tag really hurts it . most people would rather get a korg monologue for cheaper and with keys and a sequencer (albeit more limited sequencer) .. and many people already have a bass station 2 so the purchase is redundant for some of them as well. i personally love the sequencer of the circuit and would probably prefer having a mono station to my monologue if i could have gotten one for the price of my monologue . definitely will give it a shot at some point, though. keeping an eye out for a used one sub 300 before i'll probably bite.
So with the flexible routing and different distortion modes it can do things the bass station 2 can't... My circuit arrives tomorrow - I wish this had been released when I got my bass station. I would have got this instead tbh!

I see there 64 different synth patches onboard. Would you say they're versatile enough? I was thinking of using the mono circuit with a keyboard controller, and use the patterns here and there for added inspiration.

Standard MIDI from the drumbrute, via an adaptor dongle (the yellow cable) to 3,5 mm midi input on the mono station. You get two or three of those dongles with the mono station. Both machines have analogue clock-in/ clock-out too, so in a pinch, all you need to sync them is a 3,5mm jack cable.
It is a bit confusing at first, but totally possible to learn. Something like a microbrute would perhaps be easier to get the hang on what is going on, if you want to learn how sound synthesis works. Original cirquit is more groovebox than synthesizer and probably the best one if you just want to start making music.
Hi Bo. Great video. I’m in a post punk electro band and was wondering if this machine can do drum machine stuff or is better t circuit? Want something with a small footprint and synth capabilities as well. I see that there’s no allocated drum channel but could I still upload with sd card some drum machine sounds? Not up to carry as well a drum machine basically. Would be of great help to know. Thanks!
The Novation Circuit (not mono station) and MC101 from Roland comes to mind. Circuit has 4 sample tracks and MC101 has 16 drum sounds per track, and you can have 4 tracks total. Check my MC101 review
@@JH-lo9ut i dont see why this would not run with a power bank? There are many powerbanks by now that can easily deliver 12v with enough capacity. I havent tried it but i am relatively confident that its possible. Also you answered 1 year later.... I am too old now

If you prefer keys = Bass Station 2 for sure. The sequencers are very cool but unless you plan on going deep the BS2 is probably the better buy.

You can also use this unit to sequence other gear via midi and/or CV
How does you connect the impact with the monostation? Only with audio in or the impact is sent to the mixer/audio interface too?
