    35 second tutorial for things that only need 35 seconds to explain is so rare on youtube. You are a hero among time wasters.

    Does not work for me. I have a Liftmaster that is about 19 years old. Even tried the relearn button the the opener but still does not work.

  • @mNash80
    @mNash80 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    It’s a two part.
    You have to do this to program the car. You’ll likely need to press learn on you opener after you have programmed the car and then press the newly programmed homelink button within 30 seconds.

    This method does not work for rolling code garage doors such as chamberlain. You also need to hit the learn button on the garage door motor and within 30 seconds or so get back to the truck and press and hold the button you just programmed until the garage door flashes a confirmation with the light bulbs.

      Using the learn button on the back of the opener of my Chamberlain opener did not work with the 2017 Accord. Using the remote worked fine.

    So if someone breaks into your van without a key, does the homelink stop working unless the FOB is nearby? That would make things so much safer..I think it still works though, which sucks..unless I'm missing something?

    You're f'ing kidding! Recently purchased a 2016 CRV EX-L with low mileage and it doesn't have homelink garage door opener. Even my old 2008 Toyota had that. This isn't a base model and this is a pretty basic feature. Get with the times Honda!

      Use the Learn button on the lifter. You'll have to remove the cover and press the red button near the antenna wire. You then have 30 seconds to press the garage button in your car. Done. You're welcome.

    If this doesn't work, you probably will have to get a ladder and press a button on your garage opener during this process to appropriately sync it with Homelink. I had to do that for my LiftMaster and Genie garage openers. My advice is that based on the type of garage opener you have (LiftMaster, Genie, etc.) is you go to their website and watch their video on how to program your opener to Homelink. There are slight difference in the process depending on the brand and the manufacturer will have easy to follow how-to videos.

  • @campbellzachc

    Is that a Genie opener?? Because I’ve had zero luck with both of my Hondas

  • @MadTraveler
    @MadTraveler 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2019 Honda CR-V and a Genie Pro 98 and this did NOT work. Then I watched another video and saw that you have to press the first and third Homelink button down at the same time for 15-30 seconds until they start blinking in order to clear previous codes. Then you do as he instructs here. Of course, if you have a brand new vehicle with no prior codes entered, this may work fine.

    • @Merry95Berry
      @Merry95Berry ปีที่แล้ว

      This is what worked for me as well. Clear codes. Program remote to car. Then hit the learn button on the garage door opener, go back to the car, and hold the button until the garage light flashes. Worked like a charm. Also did it on my Mercedes, same process. Could never figure it out before and now can enjoy this ancient technology for the first time!

    One thing that he doesn't mention: If you already have another code in the car and you need to change it, first you have to push THE FIRST AND THIRD BUTTON together...to clear the previous code. Then you're good to go with his instructions.

    For a lot of people who have rolling codes or other slightly older garage door openers, you will need to dig into your manual. I had to hold the button for seconds, run in, hit the learn button, run back to the car and hit the button again for two second and it worked.
