Forrest Gump is a 1994 American comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis. An adaptation of the 1986 novel by Winston Groom, the screenplay of the film is written by Eric Roth. It stars Tom Hanks in the title role, alongside Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field in lead roles. The film follows the life of an Alabama man named Forrest Gump (Hanks) and his experiences in the 20th-century United States.
Principal photography took place between August and December 1993, mainly in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Extensive visual effects were used to incorporate Hanks into archived footage and to develop other scenes.
The soundtrack features songs reflecting the different periods seen in the film.
Forrest Gump was released in the United States on July 6, 1994, and received widespread critical acclaim for Zemeckis's direction, performances (particularly those of Hanks and Sinise), visual effects, music, and screenplay.
The film was a major success at the box office: it became the top-grossing film in the United States released that year and earned over US$678.2 million worldwide during its theatrical run, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1994, behind The Lion King. The soundtrack sold over 12 million copies. Forrest Gump won six Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Hanks, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, and Best Film Editing. It received many award nominations, including Golden Globes, British Academy Film Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Various interpretations have been made of the protagonist and the film's political symbolism. In 2011, the Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"

You see a lotta comments whenever this movie comes up on the Internet about how Jenny is a villain but she was a straight up victim. She told Forrest he didn't know what love is because he thinks love is a nice, beautiful thing, but to her love is pain, manipulation, and cruelty. That's all anyone besides Forrest who has ever told her they loved her had ever done to her since she was a child.
It's not really similar to the book at all. Forrest is kind of an asshole in the book.
What gets lost on the younger generations now are all the historical situations and people Forest comes across. People miss legendary Alabama football couch in the beginning, Bear Bryant with the checkered fedora. Or Abbie Hoffman, the famous anti war activist at the Lincoln Memorial in the American flag shirt.
I bet theirs loads of Easter eggs I've missed!
@@manueldeabreu1980 Manuel abreu... ' imagine all the people ' very disappointing reaction...
I like that you didn’t come down hard on Jenny. So many people judge her harshly without trying to put themselves in her shoes.
yeah bro but i was raped for 2 straight years when i was a child nearly every day by a fellow dude in my town. i didnt have a father either, i never went and ghosted people who loved me. everybody is different tho ya know?
The only time she "ghosted" him was when she left after they slept together and that was probably a very triggering event for her considering Forest is childlike and Jenny only knew how to show love via physical intimacy because of her childhood. She probably felt like she took advantage of him. @@chrisvibz4753
Mostly people get mad when women make their own choices. Also they get mad when they're rejected.
I liked the shout out to Big Mama Thornton ❤
I saw this at the theater when it came out and the whole theater walked out crying their eyes out!! Happy Holidays!!🎄🎄
I always appreciate your reactions Jhyad. Keep moving forward man!
Merry Christmas Jhyad 🎅 🎄 🎁
"Ngas get crippled and start movin crazy..." That line crippled me. ♿

In addition, what many younger viewers wouldn't recognize, is that Jenny's illness was specifically AIDS. When she says: "...Some kind of virus. They don't know what it is...." it mirrored exactly how the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis emerged in the 80s. So, as convenient as her getting sick was to the plot, the fact that they alluded to this particular disease, (which in her case, would have come from IV drug use) was definitely part of the socio/political historical continuum they built throughout the entire movie.
Jenny was on the road ,she didn't get the letters. Also, Forrest and Jenny hugging in the water was from a popular cover photo. I think it was Time Magazine.....I think.🙂
Been digging the channel so far.
Enjoyed the reaction, subscribed for more!
Papa Gump ran out on the family
He was probably getting a vacation from being the father of Forrest
You gotta start paying attention when you do these reactions ✌️
Merry Christmas, sir
Same to you

1. The music royalties alone must have cost a small fortune🤑🤑🤑🤑
2. Kurt Russell did the voice for Elvis.
3. Typically, boats/ships need a female name.
4. Having gotten his degree Forrest would have gone into the Army as an officer like Lt. Dan. Not a recruit. His ASVAB kills that.
5. He actually saved Lt Dan twice. Once in the field and again to get him out of his post war funk and Dan turned his life around.
6. Normally an enlisted Army person would be fully aware of his/her separation date.
7. Jenny did indeed give him the best gift ever (it wasn't the shoes)😈
8. Jenny died of Hep-C from dirty needles when she was in Caliphony..
9. It's ironic that Lt. Dan told the guys to take care of their feet because he loses his.
10. At the rally Forrest says, "There's only one thing I can say about Vietnam. Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don't go home at all. That's a bad thing. That's all I have to say about that."
11. You have had a ride through recent US history and culture. From Elvis, John Lennon, Abby Hoffman to Vietnam and Watergate. Even the jogging craze of the 70's. About the only thing left out was streaking.
12. Observation: Bubba's not a small dude. Forrest carries him with a bullet in his ass.😲
13. Sometimes, I guess there're just aren't enough rocks"🥺
14. Haley Joel Osmentt/Forrest Jr. steals the show in "The Sixth Sense" with Bruce Willis.🤩
15. When he's finishing a segment about death, he ends it by saying "That's all I have to say about that"
16 Keep in mind if Jenny wasn't wasting her life seeking men like her father and was with Forrest he/we wouldn't have had this incredible journey.
