you should get a stove top steamer. boiled carrots/potatoes in the bottom, steamed sprouts next level, and then cauliflower on the top. and you only use one gas ring. nom nom nom .
Roast looks great but now I’m hungry and it’s about 10:00pm here in Michigan USA. Favorite roast is slow cooked (instant Pot) beef chuck roast with potatoes, carrots, onions, Lipton dried soup mix, beef stock and mushrooms. Sometimes I leave the potatoes out of the pot and just make mashed potatoes instead. The roast makes the house smell great which is appreciated even more when it’s cold outside with some snow on the ground and I don’t feel the need to venture out. Even with the marina frozen and the trees iced over, it is love in your area. Thanks for taking us along for dinner.
Haha rule number one on TH-cam - don't watch cooking vlogs after dinner time! Oh couldn't agree more - we have a slow cooker (think that's the same as an instant pot) and love chucking root veg in and leaving it there all day to come home to. Can't beat the warming smell! True, the cold may make us shiver but it does look beautiful in the marina. Cheers for watching! x
Great meal and as always loved your shopping trip. Laughed when Lauren pretended to get in the trolley. My hubby mentioned she must be part of the Tesco finest range. Did you have a dessert as we find we always need something sweet afterwards. Looking forward to a future vlog where Charlie & Lauren bake a cake. Debbie & David 👫 xx
Haha this comment made us chuckle! She'll take that! Yes absolutely, we had a couple of squares of dark chocolate but forgot to film it. We've actually NEVER baked on our narrowboat so certainly something we need to do soon! x
Lauren has the right idea, I love mint sauce on anything especially Lamb or peas or mash, just anything. Also, love bread sauce with anything. Keep up the great work guys.
When I worked at a nursery we had several outside taps like that. We used to wrap them up in the bubble wrap with large holes. It's called greenhouse bubble wrap and really does the job. Wrap it round the pipe and wooden stake and especially round the tap and tie with string. Then put a large deep bucket over the top, preferably one that reaches to the ground. The deep bucket will keep the wet out and keep it snug. Try not to leave any water in the hose pipe as we never had frozen taps but very often had frozen hose pipes. After the most miserable day here it's a banger of a sunset. Merry Christmas, Graham
Yesss. This completely makes sense! We'll definitely have to do something because we can't be having no water through winter haha. Glad you got a banger sunset, looking a bit cloudy over here!
Always have cauli and cheese.......put your carrots, parsnips and swede in with your potatoes and mash them all together when cooked.......yum yum.......stay safe....xx....brilliant as always......
Nice video guys. Tip for the winter months...make a cosy cover for the water tap to prevent it freezing! The water below ground won't freeze unless it turns Siberian in the UK (unlikely), so you are only interested in the water in the pipes above ground level.
Just one word about the dinner ... YUM! Had to laugh about turning off the heaters to run the microwave. We have to turn off the air conditioner in our RV/caravan to run our microwave. Just a thought on the outside tap. Have you tried wrapping the exposed pipe in some sort of insulation? Doesn't have to be fancy. We use old towels and secure them by wrapping string up and the down the pipe. If it's an area where it might get damp or wet from rain, snow, etc., wrap all that with plastic wrap. Might help. Stay safe, warm and healthy! Cheers from South Carolina!
Haha cheers Lyn! Glad someone understand the struggle of the voltage! Yes we've had a few suggestions now about 'lagging' the pipes so going to look into that over the weekend! Cheers guys sending hugs to SC!
Hiya, I always manage to get a wonky wheel too. 😂You two make me smile. That chopping board might be heavy. You will never have to replace it. Lovely roast dinner. I love mint sauce. Great video.
Mint sauce goes with everything. One thing you may not have tried is cheese on toast with mint sauce - just a few drips over the melted cheese and then back under the grill for a minute before serving... yum!
A stove top steamer is a must. Put cooked roasties in a bowl & quickly toss in salt, turmeric, paprika, parsley & defo garlic pepper. I have french mustard & cranberry sauce to my roast dinner and mint sauce on everything including chips! x.
That looked good enough to eat. Glad to see sprouts in a roast dinner and not just for Christmas. Yes as always to plenty of gravy but I also like lots of stuffing and sausage meat if I'm having Chicken or Turkey. If its a Christmas roast I will also have roasted butternut squash. The good thing about having leftovers is that you can go back for seconds 😁 💪 I'm glad to see that you two eat three of the great meals that this country gave to the world. The roast dinner 💪 a full English breakfast 💪 and baked beans on toast 💪 As for a roast dinner I would allow it to settle down then I would have apple pie and custard for pudding 💪 Take care both of you, Graham ❤
Haha you sound very patriotic and passionate about the roast dinner and Graham and we're with you! Agree on the butternut squash, we're big fans. Also agree on the apple pie and custard too. Reminds me of my dad as he loves it!
Morning guys, just been and posted you both a little something from me and the wife, hope it finds you well, now time to catch up on last 3 vlogs with my week off work, keep up the good work and merry Christmas again.....
Ah thanks a lot guys! Just picked up a batch of lockdown letters yesterday so I'm sure it's in there somewhere. Going to sit and go through them this afternoon! Haha cheers for the support Aaron! Enjoy your week off!
@@CharliePauly ah good stuff, Have you had much mail since starting the P.O. Box ? I watched the Sunday lunch vlog the other day, I’ve got to give you both a 5+ for presentation and effort for finishing lol👍💪👌
OMGOSH you guys!! I've just paused the vlog to say - I don't know how you're going to eat this. That is sooooo much food!! Love you both! Need to try a roast like this next Sunday. Not had one in soooo long!
Yuuummmmm! Mint sauce w lamb, gravy with beef and Yorkshire, cranberry w turkey, apple sauce w roast pork! I roast my Brussels with a little onion and bacon. Happy eating!
In the US, roast is accompanied with potatoes, carrots and onions in the same pot, all together. When it is done, you thicken the juices into your gravy. Everyone does it a bit different, but this is the basic formula.
WHAT!! No honey on the parsnips? 🙀 always a pleasure watching your vlogs, your relationship is just as much a friendship, so warming to watch, me and my wife are exactly the same (just as much best friends) we both plan on buying (or building) a campervan and living in it full time whilst traveling the UK visiting as many sights as we can over a 2 year period. Take care.. and thanks for sharing your life with us all
Hey guys, as not working myself today. I cooked my self a roast pork dinner! You both seem in good health and spirits. Keep it up guys, and keep warm on your boat.
Love the look of your roasted carrots parsnips and onion going to give that a try thanks guys , I love cranberry sauce and gravy on my roast , have a lovely Christmas both of you xxx
I don’t know how two skinny little kids can consume that much food at one time, it looked absolutely fantastic but the portions were unreal. I fixe a roast dinner today also but mine was beef roast, carrots 🥕 potatoes 🥔 onions 🧅 and gravy 🍷”SUPER VIDEO GUYS🧑🍳‼️”
That roast dinner looked fantastic. Love the literal pile of veggies. Excellent choices. Lauren, I'm definitely a fan of the gravy. Yum. Ummm, stuffing balls? I haven't seen those here in the US.
Ah it was sooo good! Literal PILE haha. Yep has to be gravy on everything and we always seem to have stuffing balls, not sure if it's a UK thing but they're made up of herbs and a starch such as bread with a bit of pork!
You are like me when doing a Sunday roast or a Christmas meal in that you daren't leave anything out. Got to admit that it's a bit unusual having mash potato and cheese sauce with a roast. I suppose if there's room on a plate you just as well fill it. Tip for Lauren on how to avoid hiccups is to breathe between shovel fulls of food. Incredible watching the smooth teamwork between the two of you. Tara xx
Haha absolutely, not space should be unfilled on the plate! I do tell her to slow down when she's eating but she'll never learn haha. Aw thanks as always Tara! x

Goodness me did you both really eat all that? Everything you both do is with 100% enthusiasm. Have you tried frying the left over potatoes and green veggies for breakfast in the morning. Or jam or honey on your yorkshire puddings?
Haha thanks a lot Michael! Appreciate the comment! Yes we're big fans of frying the left overs. Although have never heard of honey or jam on yorkshire puds...never say never though!

Haha cheers Darren! Haven't heard of the vinegar and mint sauce before, wonder if Lauren will fancy giving that a go. It was a late night doing the dishes that's for sure!
@@CharliePauly Sure it is! Here in NZ our Sunday Roast is pretty similar (roast potato, kumara, pumpkin, yams, parsnip, gravy, mint sauce), possibly because of our mainly British heritage. The only thing we would boil is peas though. But it definitely wouldn't be possible to have the potatoes without the butter on the side...
Roasy beef yorkshires puddings with Cranberry sauce, but if I am cooking a lamb its Mint sauce, but I must tell you I have so much fresh mint in my garden I just made homemade Pesto is so yummy
@@CharliePauly I would send you some but it might not taste as good by the time you get it lol. But have sent you a little parcel to that lockdown post office box hope you get it.
A Love Gravy And Mint Sauce I All So Like Gabage Spinch But I Must Say I Do Like A Load Of Sprouts And What You Have Left On Monday You Can Have Bubble And Sqeak
Yes a few people have said that now. We didn't know about the mint sauce going with lamb. However I'm sure it won't stop Lauren chucking it on everything haha. Cheers!
Buy a jar, keep using until empty, switching between mint, cranberry, mustard, horseradish, apple sauce, so quite a selection, as don’t want it always to be the same
Hey guys..just a quick question to enable me to get a better understanding of vegetarianism.. As I've noticed the alternatives to meat always resemble meat..for example..vegetarian sausage.. vegetarian chicken? What are your thoughts on it? Pls help me to understand..thankyou😊🙏💞
Hey Joanne! So although we can't speak for everyone, I guess there are two types of vegetarians. Those that don't like the taste of meat, and those that want to help the animals/environment/health reason. For us it's a bit of everything. So we don't really mind what it looks like, as long as it doesn't REALLY taste like meat. I hope this explains it a little for you xx
you should get a stove top steamer. boiled carrots/potatoes in the bottom, steamed sprouts next level, and then cauliflower on the top. and you only use one gas ring. nom nom nom .

Aw absolutely love to hear this! Thanks so much Charli! Haha we had a space for a little square of chocolate but forgot to record it!
Definitely mint sauce on potatoes 🤩
Haha team Lauren!
Oooh... that Sunday roast looked yummie, with cauliflower cheese included, don't know how you two managed to pack that all in😂
Haha neither do we! We've just about pulled ourselves off the sofa and it's time for another one!
Looks great, but where is the butter for the spuds?!!
Cheers Kevin! We never use butter on our spuds, is that a thing?
@@CharliePauly Sure it is! Here in NZ our Sunday Roast is pretty similar (roast potato, kumara, pumpkin, yams, parsnip, gravy, mint sauce), possibly because of our mainly British heritage. The only thing we would boil is peas though. But it definitely wouldn't be possible to have the potatoes without the butter on the side...
Boy do I miss the Sunday joint! We used to have lamb!
So many people mentioning lamb in the comments, we didn't realise it was so popular!
Yummy. It's making me hungry!
Haha I guess that's the down side to cooking vlogs!
Oh my goodness - that looks yummy! I'm with you Lauren - mint sauce is the best! Love it on fish and chips :-)
Cheers David! Ha you're the second person to say about mint sauce on fish n chips now. We'd never heard of that before!
Food looks great. Always make too much is a top rule. Do like swede with mine and lots of gravy.
Haha cheers David! Yes, could have squeezed a little cube of swede in there I think!
Something sexy...hold on! 👍🏻🤣 Lauren you are sooooo funny. Your dinner looked fabulous. Take care. 🥰
Haha Lauren coming through with the one liners! Aw thanks as always Jo! x
I thught you had forgotten something essential in Tesco, but then at 15 minutes Lauren quality tested the wine!
Haha oh no, she'd never forget that!
@@CharliePauly priorities, priorities!

Ooh that sounds good Lyn! We've never made fresh pesto before but do love a good pesto pasta!
@@CharliePauly I would send you some but it might not taste as good by the time you get it lol. But have sent you a little parcel to that lockdown post office box hope you get it.

Haha that's the only thing about cooking vlogs!
A Love Gravy And Mint Sauce I All So Like Gabage Spinch But I Must Say I Do Like A Load Of Sprouts And What You Have Left On Monday You Can Have Bubble And Sqeak
Yesss! Agree with all the above and do love a good bubble and squeak haha!
Looked great. Being a kiwi.....homemade mint sauce is really only for Lamb!! Stay safe, happy Xmas xx
Yes a few people have said that now. We didn't know about the mint sauce going with lamb. However I'm sure it won't stop Lauren chucking it on everything haha. Cheers!
Looked yummy, lots on the plate 😂 I love cranberry sauce on chicken, we had a chicken roast today, was delicious xxx
Haha thanks Melanie! Lots on the plate but never too much haha. Yes, we do love cranberry sauce!
Great veggie roast dinner - nice one!
Thanks Trevor! It was so tasty!
That dinner is HUGE 🤣
Haha just how we like it!
I have horseradish sauce with beef, mint sauce with lamb and apple sauce with pork.
Sounds like you've got your condiments down to a tee Maureen!
I lived on a boat in the early nineties...tbh I cooked a roast every Sunday and some ace meals during the week!.....miss the life.
Love that! Simply living.
Yummy, I wanted roast loads today so gonna do a Sunday roast tomorrow. 😁
Yesss! Hope you enjoyed it!
Tuck in guys and enjoy
Cheers Ron!
Next time you do a roast onion 🌰 cut a cone out of the top and fill it with a tea spoon of English mustard 😋 .
Yummy
Oooh sounds delicious! Thanks for the tip!
Wow awesome roast.
Haha thanks!
Oh mint jelly - every time! Buon appetito! Sure you've got space for a compact dishwasher somewhere ;) Sweet dreams
Haha right! Could do with a little Sunday Roast special dishwasher!
Buy a jar, keep using until empty, switching between mint, cranberry, mustard, horseradish, apple sauce, so quite a selection, as don’t want it always to be the same
When you have finished LOD S5 if you haven't seen it watch 'Bodyguard' from Jed Mercurio who made LOD.
A few people have said this now. Will have to add Bodyguard to the list! Cheers!
Buy some insulator piping and wrap it around the water pipe and tap.
Thanks for the tip!
Both of you should do My Kitchen rules
Haha aw thanks Jenny! Not sure if we're quite that good!
@@CharliePauly thanks guys..I really appreciate you trying to help me to understand..thankyou 😊🙏💞
How do you get rid of the ash from the log burner on a narrow boat, mine gets put on my garden, but you don’t have a garden🤔
Haha we have grass outside the boat but usually put it in the bin.
