Have you ever travelled to a far away place (example: a touristic town or a relative´s house) as a child or teenager and as you went back home in a long highway on night (as depicted in the video), your father put the radio on while he drived the car? I know it´ weirdly specific, but it´s the exact feeling this song gives me when I listen to it.
Old comment, but it's likely this song was made by GDR musicians who went to west Germany to get a label deal, but once the GDR caught wind of it they had them silenced. Either the GDR, or another Eastern Bloc nation, you have to bear in mind communist regimes can and would make people and media disappear if they disapproved of it.
At the same time that it's amazing that by a slim chance that a boy in the 80s recorded this song. By that slim chance he didn't record the radio host during songs and then context will always be lost. If only there was another way to hear the radio station from that day...
Although there is a very slim chance you will be able to find someone who remembers the day they heard it and the name vividly, there might be a chance to contact the radio station where it was broadcasted, if it still exists, and see if they have it on recording. Just an idea though.
I usually don't believe in the "song from another universe" theory unless in this case. If this song in unknown here and we think is popular in another universe, then there is a universe where this song is popular but they have an oddly recognisable, distorted song and the only lyrics they can make out are "take on me".

Who would have been in charge of choosing the songs to air on NDR in Northern Germany from 1983-84? It shouldn't be hard to find the right people to contact about this.
I remember I heard this with my dad when on a fieldtrip We got lost and needed refuel I heard this song a bit before I headed with my dad into a nearby gas station. It was a bit empty but there was this guy besides the cashier guy, he told me that he was looking for a bonfire in the nearby woods to find his happiness. I think he really likes camping or something I don't know
Quick, use this video to go back in time and ask the driver what station he/she was listening to so we can get the exact DJ and setlist and finally find out the identity of this song and the group!
You would have needed a vhs video recorder and a 1970s for 17m with a 1.7 V4 growling under the hood, and the wing windows whistilng in the wind. Thats just a sound world u cant beat.
Maybe i would put some random song for, i don't know, ten seconds before paying Like the Wind. Or at least put some static before the song so it seems the radio is being turned on.

I think we can all agree that no one will be able to find the real song unless we go to Germany, since the song's first hearing was from a German radio station. if anyone can find a way to go into the radio station and ask one of the employees what the song is. there is a slim chance that they WILL know the song and tell you its true name.
I think they've already done that, still no answers :(
@@cgcfad you mean email or did they PHYSICALLY go to germany?
@@splashykoy11 noone physically went to fucking germany to find an unknown song, although someone already emailed them about it so the radio station sent multiple lists of their early broadcasted songs (between the years the song could have been broadcasted) which reddit had already sifted through and didn't find the song, also from what i heard, the radio station broadcasted the song again after they knew of the mystery to see if anyone would recognize it but noone had come through unfortunately.
It has been identified yesterday to be "Subway of Your Mind" by FEX
Ich wohne selbst in Berlin und glaube, ich habe den Song in einer Kneipe gehört
Like the Wind
Like the wind
You came here running
Change the consequence of everything
There’s no space
There’s no tomorrow
There’s no sense communication
Check ir in, check it out
But the sun will never shine
Is there an ordinary way in the subways of your mind?
Like the wind
You’re going somewhere
Let a smile be your companion
There’s no place
And there’s no sorrow
Hear the young and restless’ feeling
Check it in, check it out
But the sun will never shine
Is there an ordinary way in the subways of your mind?
(Bridge)
Check it in, check it out
But the sun will never shine
Is there an ordinary way in the subways of your mind?
Check it in, check it out
It’s the summer blues
Let it in, get it out
Is it really you? (X4)
Seen other renditions and I think yours is closest, but not 100%. Keep listening..... :)

i had no idea they had 3rd gen volkswagen caddy in 80's germany
I must be going crazy but I feel I have lived this song in some distant past. WHY?
This feels so...Real...I don't know how to explain it.
judging by the cars it's not the 80's but what you where trying to do is still wholesome non the less

FEX - Subways Of Your Mind
If at some point the internet ends, this will be the credits song.

Subways of your mind - FEX
2:37 notice the little creature
Should’ve applied an 80’s filter on it or made the video in 144p at least.
the video is meant to be more of an audio experience w/ the driving footage as an extra feature so i didn't edit it. the vhs filter is good idea though, i'll probably use it if i make a similar video in the future :)
just because TH-cam was in 144p doesn't mean that 80s videos were
80s videos were usually in 480i
I didn't knew that people on the 80's used to see in an filter while driving.
@@PotentialGrim Well you gotta have something to kinda balance out the newer cars in the video, however few there may be.
@@PotentialGrim I remember seeing in VHS quality in the 90s, so probably. 👌
Who would have been in charge of choosing the songs to air on NDR in Northern Germany from 1983-84? It shouldn't be hard to find the right people to contact about this.
Try driving by cities or towns with this song. That way someone might recognize the song.
I’m from the future and here to tell you the song is called Subways of your Mind by Fex
I liked the moving car theme, I imagine myself listening to this song while driving.
I remember I heard this with my dad when on a fieldtrip
We got lost and needed refuel
I heard this song a bit before I headed with my dad into a nearby gas station. It was a bit empty but there was this guy besides the cashier guy, he told me that he was looking for a bonfire in the nearby woods to find his happiness. I think he really likes camping or something I don't know
2:07 When you realise your MkII Golf is actually a MkII Golf GTI.
I like listening to this song while driving at night, it's a vibe
It's a small small world.
I'm 90% sure I was on that bus at 0:22.

It's like FlixBus, but more in the grey department.
Would be interesting to splice with actual car footage from 80s Germany. If anyone can find such a thing.
who would even wanted to record themselves driving a car in the 80s
@@carlover116-io9ssMany people. I know at least a few road footage videos from 80's West Germany on YT
Even my mom told me about this song. She heard that before.
I could fall asleep to this. This song fucking SLAPS.
Oh, so that's how the car got there....
FEX is a hell of a band.
Man really turned his car into the left lane without using his turn signal smh
It has been found, props und to all the people who commited to the chase all these years.
Quick, use this video to go back in time and ask the driver what station he/she was listening to so we can get the exact DJ and setlist and finally find out the identity of this song and the group!
he just overlayed this song over a video of a car driving and added some effects to the song
@@fecalunfunny7109 Así es, como alguien lo hizo con "july morning" de la gran banda URIAH HEEP.
You would have needed a vhs video recorder and a 1970s for 17m with a 1.7 V4 growling under the hood, and the wing windows whistilng in the wind. Thats just a sound world u cant beat.
Sounds like the type of song that would sit right and play in one of the "Final destination" films.
Love this. I did a mixtape for my car (a CDr in truth) that plays this, Fond My Mind, For My Murder etc. About 20 of my favourite TMS tunes.
yo for my murder is solved and what else is on the tape?
Yeah I wanna know too
me and boys going to Winden for looking the caves and the portal of time traveller
Germany is a parellel dimension. If you've ever been there you know lol
It's been found!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE
We found
My parents were in Frankfurt, Germany around 1983-1987, they might have heard this
Guys, we found it !
Maybe i would put some random song for, i don't know, ten seconds before paying Like the Wind. Or at least put some static before the song so it seems the radio is being turned on.
This feels familiar, I might have heard a song with the beginning instrumental on 98.9fm "The Goat." The beginning instrumental just gives me the feeling of going to my grandparents, the river, or just driving on a nice day somewhere in May of 2017. I miss those times. This song brings me back to those times, and evokes the feeling of careless, child bliss. I hope all of you have a great day/night, and please, hug somebody you love, you won't regret it.
Give your nan a call.
I hope we find this, I know it, best of luck people.
It was found few days ago
This song gives you feeling of hope which is your life was bad and depresed but not gived up some years later you decided to live somwhere more peacefull
