Can you just drop it in a fresh water lake and go for a Cruze after ocean riding ,to flush it out? I was thinking I could just head straight up the river that runs into the bay and pull it out and done

Same here as I think that's fine. I've done that for years and no salt issues.

If I’m riding in freshwater to saltwater then back to freshwater the same day do I need salt away?

I'd say no as I do the same with no issues. I'd use salt away for that proper winterization only.

Yes you both should, it doesn't matter how much fresh water running you do. You would have to do hours of it. Saltaway dissolves the salt quickly and leaves behind your next outtings protection. Manufacturers do there best to help their motors survive, but it's still up to you to help. If you plan on keeping your skis for a while and don't do this, reliability issues will come in the end. Or just pass on a hunk of shit. Up to you. But we know your names, good luck selling them without a lie.

Yep, this video is incorrect. As per the directions, Salt Away should only be injected into the engine for about 30 seconds AFTER flushing with water. It contains corrosion inhibiting chemicals and should be left in the engine when the jet ski is not in use.

This video is incorrect. First, the salt away should not be rinsed away. It needs to stay in the lines to break the salt down. You should flush and end with salt away.
someone also commented that you should store your gas tank empty. this is also incorrect. Tanks should be stored full with stabilizer. an empty tank is prone to condensation build up and water is the last thing you want in a tank.

They use plastic fuel tanks these days to prevent rust.

Its not rust that is the concern. Its water building from condensation. Its something that can not be avoided but if you have a full tank there is less buildup since there is less air in the tank.

Nick 0 after using in saltwater is it okay to rinse the engine off?

    • @nickw6887

yes, and it is recommended. spray the engine and components down but keep the cover on to avoid getting the plugs wet. you should also spray everything down with a silicone protectant when your done

Make sure when you store anything away with a motor that the gas tank is empty. Stale fuel can destroy an engine and fuel lines and carburetor. I damaged the engine on my lawn mower when I Ieft fuel in the tank and put it away for the winter. Fuel should only be left in a gas tank for 2 months tops.

this is so incorrect it hurts...

That is bad info to post sir. A full tank with proper fuel stabilization and even an enzyme treatment such as startron is the proper way.
