Everyone becomes a selfish miser when tax day comes. The human is inherently selfish and greedy which is why there needs to be laws and safeguards against that. Otherwise it’s a dystopian nightmare.

All this discussion of cycles gets very specific and prescriptive. I’m pretty sold on the general concept of predictable actions and consequences, but there’s too much going on in the system to be so deterministic.
Also, Eric Weinstein has a point: “strong men make good times and thermonuclear weapons…weak men and thermonuclear weapons make end times”. It’s always dangerous to say this time’s different, but our ancestors didn’t have nukes or the internet.

Fantastic video! I have a question for Brandon. Specifically, he brought up multiple cycles converging at the same time near the end. 4th turning, age of Aquarius, Industrial Age ending etc. What happens when he adds the global climate change as well? How do the models change when we factor in the loss of 1/3 of all North American insects, droughts, sea rise, glacial melt, oceans of plastic, coral reef’s dying, and the collapse of our biosphere? It seems that with the shrinking water and food resources, the hot-war scenario is ever more likely. How this unstoppable climate collapse may layer into these colliding cycles adds a layer of complexity/doom that I hear few attempt to factor into our future …

  • @rasmuseklund3709
    @rasmuseklund3709 2 ปีที่แล้ว

to add into this thinking with 4th turning I value Ray Dailios books about how long term debt cycles ends and his newest book regarding changing world order both putting things into historical perspective. All give an idea of the same. Some point in the future the current money system will change and go from a fiat system back to a system with hard money(something with scarce supply). Often this transition back towards hard money gold has been the solution. However, the question is if BTC is the new age of gold and is able to either become the solution or a partly solution combined with gold once the current system is going to change.

The big thing with altcoins is people need to understand they're fundamentally more like a financial service or tech startup, where Bitcoin is fundamentally about reforming the concept of money. I spend a lot of time in alts, but I do not interact with them as "money" - I put funds into Bitcoin when I need to store MONEY. I interact with alts as various financial services, some more centralized than others.

@@gehrhardtschneider Bitcoin certainly fixes most of the economic and monetary problems facing billions of people but do you really think we can rely on anarchy and free markets to solve every other aspect of human society? The right still wants government, they just want to cut all social programs and women's rights, and boost the military, which doesn't really sound like a better path. Ideally there could exist a government that would be reasonably-sized, efficient, and provide and maintain a basic societal structure that doesn't over-intrude but isn't pure anarchy and zero accountability. One can hope, at least.

Secession is not possible; the States and Federal Economies are too interlinked. I’m all for states right but you should be careful. Just remember, the Civil War was a fourth turning...the southern states argued states rights to enslave, subjugate, and eliminate the inalienable rights of certain human beings (blacks, women, and poor whites). Yes, the southern landed wealth owners hated women and poor whites. They convinced poor whites to STFU or they would end up like to Blacks. They told women to STFU - their job was being barefoot and pregnant...all the time. so here we are today, these same states are claiming states rights to dictate new voting law (for a certain groups benefits), what women can do with their bodies, restricting books in libraries. But we should also be wary of bureau/technocrats and Big Brotherism. The States and Federal government are two sides of the same coin. Anyway, Time for Two Minutes of Hate!...and Down With Big Brother!

As a progressive who's interested in Bitcoin I always find it interesting listening to people on the right who might disagree with me. I totally agree that a lot of society today isn't looking for truth but rather what their Echo chamber will like to hear. But the problem is it seems like he's kind of doing the exact same thing in this talk. He criticizes the left for not seeking out the truth and criticize fauci (rightfully so) but then also leaves out that people like Trump literally tried to end democracy and is still lying about the election from over a year ago. Being Progressive to me means seeking out the truth and giving the proper context to all of these scenarios. I understand the right thinks that the left wants to end democracy with these mask mandates and vaccine mandates but Trump and the majority of Republicans in Congress tried to overturn democracy and is still lying about it and people still support him. It's mind-boggling to me how everyone is in their Echo chamber and unfortunately it seems like a lot of the crypto media does a lot of the same thing like Brandon is doing in this video. Again not saying everything he is saying is wrong but to call out one side when the other side is clearly doing something similar is clearly biased and goes against seeking the truth which is what he claims he wants.

I don't understand why this guy likes Strauss-Howe Generational Theory. I've read the Fourth Turning and I'm working through Generations. I don't see how Bitcoin and the Fourth Turning's model can coexist. Decentralization during the transition from turning 4 to turning 1? That's the kind of thing you would expect during the transition from turning 2 to 3.
I'm not dogmatic on the model, but if the model does persist, then it seems that Bitcoin would need to take a backseat for a while. For Bitcoin to rise in prevalence to the point where it is a societal staple, then the model would be defeated.

@@BogdanManciu i agree with all that except i think he doesn't take his thought process far enough, because if the FED does trigger deflation/a recession, they will respond with actual money printing, putting money directly in the pockets of every day people, like the stimulus checks, etc. So while I do think he is right to call for deflation broadly, those seem like "buy the dip" opportunities once you factor in the gov't response. Until there is the political will to let things unwind, I think we see epic pullbacks followed by even more epic bull runs but increased volatility should be a more regular feature as we get deeper into this.

About the Age of Aquarius. We come from the Age of Piscis, the fish as symbol of the Christ. An Age when we have control the fluids, the air, the water, the land. Piscis brougth a massive amount of life, also great development. That Age has ended. In Aquarius we learn to build the habitat, because the environment has turned hostile. We control the aquarius no matter if we are in the middle of an Earth desert or in the middle of space. We will bring the human aquarius to other planets and, eventually, another stars. It's the Age of cibernetics, space travel and post humanism. Another evolution cycle as the human from then end of the Age of Piscis is much more advance, not only in its tools but in its own biology, than those from the past age, the Age of Aries.

Somebody needs to have this guest read some books on history after the Fourth Turning gets old. If he did he would recognize those nice neat little categories they try to shoehorn history in to don’t work out so well. For instants, it might be a surprise for him to know that during all that peace and loving after World War II in that first turning with all that rebirth, the Korean war irrupted killing about 2 million people and dragging the United States China and many countries representing the UN into it. War has continued pretty much nonstop since then. As is frequently the case this kind of Western centric viewpoint doesn’t hold up under serious scrutiny and the archetypes Strauss and Howe describe in their book are absolutely absurd and could apply from anyone from George Washington to Donald Trump. At the same time. Certainly history can be looked at from cycles and I would agree we are in a cycle of great tumultuousness. Yes we could call it the fourth turning currently but outside of pretty broad generalizations
the book simply isn’t supported and I would agree with the assessment that it’s a horoscope of sorts. Entertaining but unscientific and not able to predict anything specifically.

Totally agree, a further reading of history should assuage this young man of his current takes.

I would like to note that the book doesn't posit that there are no wars outside of a fourth turning, merely that those wars are different in their scope and nature. I don't think it's actually meant to predict anything specifically, but rather a general mood and themes for a particular point in time. Seems to be playing out in my opinion. We are entering a period of incredible divisiveness and increasing chaos.

Yes but also remember this was focussed on American culture. The rest of the world isn't necessarily in sync with that and this was a generalist theory focussed on mass impact on generations creating conditions

I guess this all makes sense if you stop looking at history past 1800.
