I'm not a Cleveland native, but I lived there for about 5 years before I move to D.C. But the long and the short of it is that I miss Cleveland and I think about the place everyday even though I have been gone for over a decade.

Just visited Cleveland this weekend and LOVED it!! I def think it gets a bad rep; the “bad” areas of town didn’t feel inherently unsafe, esp considering compared to other similar sized cities. Barely heard any sirens all weekend either, like I hear more police sirens visiting Indianapolis. Ppl are friendly, traffic wasn’t bad, and the food was amazing! Can’t wait to come back.
great video! i live 2.5 hours south of Cleveland. been driving to northern Ohio for the last 25 years for concerts, zoos, museums, aquariums and general culture. and food Cleveland is an awesome city.
You did a wonderful job reviewing Cleveland. I will definitely look into the Detroit Shoreway. Thanks for taking the time to share this information. It was very helpful :)
Hey, Marcus. I was born in Cleveland and spent the first six years of my life there. West side. Edgewater Hill, just south of Battery Park. Even back in the fifties, there was good and bad. I remember my family talking about the Flats as a place not to be caught dead in, because you just might be.
Im not a native Clevelander, but I've been here for over 30 years now. Growing up we would come here on summer break to visit family. I love the Eastside and the people! Thanks for your video .
I had to leave and I came back. I’ve lived in Atlanta, NYC, and DC and there is no place like home, especially for the cost of living and all of our great attractions…and the food!
Live in western suburbs. I go into town 4 or 5 times a year. Usally never feel real safe even after sporting events. You’re usally confronted by some homeless drug addicts or beggars . I’ve had to run stop lights to avoid confrontation with potential car jackers or sellers. My sons seem to accept this more than me but won’t spend more time down town unless they clean up the drugs and crime.
Between 1890 and 1970 Cleveland was in the top 10 largest cities in the US peaking in 1920 as the 5th largest; it had a max population of 914,808 in the 1950. The people of the time were taxed and invested in their communities and accordingly. The housing stock is old and sturdy having the 5th oldest housing stock for a large US city. Suburban sprawl is not that notable and you can get to everyplace you want to be within an hour car ride. RTA (public transit) will move you within Cuyahoga county pretty well; in my opinion it only lags behind NYC and Chicago.
I grew up in Northeast Ohio and have always considered myself a proud Clevelander even though I lived in Portage County. I have a lot of inlaws from the East Coast and New England who love the Cleveland/Akron/Canton area once they experience it and are surprised at all the wonderful things the area has to offer. Cleveland is much more than a river catching fire decades ago! Thanks for your positive commentary on our home.
Thanks for the very ‘real’ video Marcus. I moved here a couple of years ago to retire because of the affordability, culture, friendly people and other reasons you mention. The cloudiness is my biggest challenge, but I love the city, the variety of weather, and diversity. I am glad that natives like yourself are realizing that Cleveland can provide a really good life. All the best to you.
Born and raised in Cleveland. Lived on both sides of the city - St. Clair/Superior and West Park. I'm in Cincinnati now but considering a move back to C Town in the spring.
I have passed through and stopped in Cleveland so many times between Chicago and the East Coast. I like university circle, tremont, Ohio city, and the west side lakefront neighborhoods. I have found the people to be down to earth and friendly.

I saw a lot of Cleveland as a truck driver and when I drove Greyhound! I actually was thinking about moving to Cleveland along time ago but I decided to stay in Detroit
I was born and raised in the St Rocco area on the west side. I left in the late 70’s after being laid off from the Ford motor company. I’ve been back for weddings and funerals and always drive through the old neighborhood. It breaks my heart to see how that area has declined. It’s sad to see the empty lots where the houses have burned down. I found a couple of the houses that I lived in where boarded up. I have some great memories of living in Cleveland and sometimes wish that I never left.
I'm Buffalo born and raised, and moved to Cleveland at thirty nine for a new start and a job opportunity. Now, twenty seven years later, I have to admit I do like it here. I'll most likely live here until I die and that's okay. I will say the crime is pretty bad, although you did mention all large cities have that problem of course, which is true - and that's the only downfall I can bring up. Some parts are VERY dangerous though - but mostly in the East Side and the Heights "suburbs" even though those are all actually separate cities. Up until a few years ago I lived in Maple Heights and that's NOT a nice place to live. I'm in Lyndhurst now and it's much better here. Just be careful in the Eastern cities and certain parts of the city and you should be okay and ALWAYS have your head on a swivel waiting at red lights with your doors locked. The "Kia boys" take your car at gunpoint these days.
I agree with you 100%. I wasnt' born in Cleveland, in fact, I lived there for only 6 yrs. During my time there, I grew very fond of the city and the people were friendly and approachable. I became "pissed off" when I heard people bad mouthing the city. Let's face the fact, as a major steel producing and manufacturing center of our country, Cleveland was the back bone of America. I had to move to warmer climate for health reasons but I still miss many things about the city and will ALWAYS be rooting for that Grand Old City on beautiful Lake Erie!
You TRULY understand the plight of many people in the region. I moved to Austin in 2020. Unfortunately, the lack of opportunities in areas outside of Health care are limited. Hi👋🏼. Broadway & Fleet area that is often on the news for gun murders, children shooting themselves accidentally w/weapons in the homes, abandoned houses with dead bodies inside. Robberies in broad daylight. A lot of trash , garbage on the streets. Stores closing down in those districts. I won't/don't go over that way. So please do a lot of investing and stay safe. As a person from DFW who’s been looking for an escape from heat/state politics and now cost of living Cleveland is looking better every time I research or find TH-cam videos. Has the infrastructure of a big city but only 350k population. We are the opposite down here, it can’t keep up, traffic is terrible. Trade the 5 months of inferno for 4 months of winter is a even trade I suppose. And a home that costed 150k in 2013 is 400k in 2023 in DFW. And no drought, something that is coming regardless if we believe it or not, water will be the most important resource very soon and the Great Lakes regions have that covered. Now I gotta check out Milwaukee. Those seem to be my top two with Pittsburgh a close third. Keep up the good work !

RTA rail is not great. It is good in certain suburbs; Shaker Heights, Beachwood, East Cleveland, Brookpark. It does get you downtown for a game and to the airport from the eastside. Buses are abundant and work well.
Thank you. Im tired of people hating on my city. The revitalized downtown entertainment district is fire! Cleveland added a huge chandelier in the middle of the street, but it's so pretty. The superman super hero was created in Cleveland and there are plans in the works to add a statue as well some historical context. I was born and raised here. The area south of miles near i480 is really nice. keruish park has tennis courts, covered picnic pavillions, playgrounds, a walking trail, baseball diamonds, an outdoor swimming pool and basketball hoops. This area is one of the best kept secrets . There is an abundance of wooded areas, so it's really quiet and peaceful. People often mistake the area for the suburbs. Large ranch homes with big yards. Some residents have in ground pools. The home values have risen in recent years. Its nice seeing people walk their dogs or family on evening walks. I heard the city has plans to revitalize the area. We do our part by maintaining our home and keeping the area clean. Unfortunately, it seems like as soon as any area looks like it's on the rise... here come the thugs and criminals. That happens in every major mid size or large city though.
Love Cleveland. Moved back to the Land from NYC after Covid. 2 yrs later got married and had to leave. I think about that city everyday. It’s in my blood.
From Youngstown been in Cleveland for 11 years k love it here it’s rough and tough and it’s has the potential to be a great northern version of Atlanta with advancement of black Americans in positions to help other black Americans
Wym there ain’t no education opportunities?? Tri C? Cleveland State? CMSD and all the non profits like say yes to Cleveland? College Now Greater Cleveland?? Plenty of opportunities
I just seen a comment from a person in California saying they want to move here to get more "bang for their buck". That why people complain about certain people moving to their state and ruining the quality of life. Dont move to a place for money, move there for community, peace of mind and a new journey. Some folks move with greed intentions and that brings nothing but fabrication to a beautiful place.
I love Cleveland, but don't live there from and live in y-town. It suck it gets a bad rep but I've taken out of town friends and they were impressed with it.
Appreciate ya bruh. Just moved up to Garfield Heights from Miami. DON'T look forward to the cold, DO look forward to the price of living. The videos a little long. But keep it up ✊🏾
I am anticipating moving to Cleveland next year. I would be coming in the middle part of the year to see the city. I am a nurse so the video was an uplift, However, is the weather that I am worry about.
I’ve been in Cleveland for a month and a half, it’s an amazing city. I’m from LA and I love it here. I’m trying to go to medical school and complete my residency out here
Thank you for your video but let's not associate poverty with the east side of Cleveland. There are poor people on all sides. I grew up in Cleveland, moved away to NYC, came back to Cleveland and still live on the east side. I do not live in the hood. yes I live in the city of Cleveland (Cleveland proper). I live in a middle-class neighborhood where me and my neighbors get up every morning go to work pay our bills take care of our yards. The East side always gets a bad rap and we have to change that narrative especially for people who are thinking about coming here. let's not forget the wealthy suburbs of the EAST side: Shaker heights, Cleveland heights, Pepper Pike, etc. poverty is everywhere not just on one side of town😊
the rust belt is the rust belt for a reason. even detroit has some positives, but the fact of the matter is, most of the cities are just in rapid decline and that is just the way it is. just look at the neighborhoods that are abandoned around those cities and the crime is not going down but only up
Grew up 30 minutes east of Cleveland in Painesville. I absolutely love and appreciate the diversity of Northeast Ohio. I'm now in Florida and hate it! I'm leaving in a few days for home. To my people in Collinwood here I come!
contemplating moving my multimedia production business to cleveland from california. i can bring my clients with me but i want more bang for my buck and think I could be super affective out there. I’ve worked the whole state once or twice for like a week straight each time and i enjoyed what I saw.
This person is definitely from Cleveland, I’m an eastern suburb and everything is true they have a lot a good jobs it depends with education like if you’re in Chardon or Middlefield school districts that’s when you shouldn’t go to school there and also the weather its basically unknown cause the last 2 winters it hit 60 degrees in February and we get less and less snow, now if you’re in like Chardon for example or my home town Middlefield that’s when you’re in the snowbelt and get huge lake effect snow, now it’s hot in the summer, they have lots of parks, the Guardians for baseball and lots of great museums and the 2nd best hospital in the world, known as Cleveland Clinic yes Cleveland does have bad neighborhoods and lots of crime but I notice it’s getting safer, Also in the winter we have lots of parks to go to for example Alpine Valley, Brandywine, Boston Mills and Punderson, and many good restaurants and lots of homemade. Also if you’re thinking of moving to the eastern suburbs where I am,the farther you get away from like Mayfield Heights and Beachwood you’ll notice like in Geauga county it gets more country and once it’s Huntsburg, Claridon, Burton, and Middlefield that’s where it gets Amish and in most of Geauga County is mainly just country. Idk lots of things about the west side but I’m sure it’s great like the east side.
Thanks for your perspective. I think you're still in the booster phase where you've got a bit of a chip on your shoulder and you feel you need to defend the city. At some point you reach the cynical phase where you realize that all these non profits and public private partnerships (Downtown Cleveland Alliance, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission) are part of the problem and keep pushing that narrative to benefit their interests, and that only perpetuates the economic stagnation and social unrest of the city.
@@roibaptiste3648 What difference does it make? The majority of the East Side is still black while the majority of the West is a mixture of Whites and Hispanics.

RTA (public transit) will move you within the Cuyahoga county pretty well; in my opinion it only lags behind NYC and Chicago.
@@akwasiregister9529 👍 well put
Youd say Cleveland’s rail transit is superior to DC, Philly, Boston, SF?
RTA rail is not great. It is good in certain suburbs; Shaker Heights, Beachwood, East Cleveland, Brookpark. It does get you downtown for a game and to the airport from the eastside. Buses are abundant and work well.
There's so many things i agree with in this video
Great representation of The 216!
Tell me about Asia town/Chinatown/Goodrich Kirkland
Im only 10 seconds in, and already know that this video is about to be fire🔥
Why are so many business base in Cleveland
Cleveland reminds me of a smaller version of Detroit. 💯
Thinking of moving there this month I want to move there
Hi👋🏼. Can u share/speak on the area that I read u said u live in?? The Detroit Shore way? I know the area.👂🏼👀
From Columbus here. Wish we had some of the culture and public transport you have there.
Oh yes. I lived in Columbus for 7 years and for a city of its size, the public transportation sucks there.
Love Cleveland.
Moved back to the Land from NYC after Covid.
2 yrs later got married and had to leave.
I think about that city everyday.
It’s in my blood.
I grew up within a quarter mile of Lakewood high a long time ago. I wish I could buy my mothers home.
Can you tell me a good area to invest in. Thanks
How is the dating in Cleveland ..
Its Ohio bro 💀 Ohio is like North Korea!
Good
I’m from Detroit but I have respect for Cleveland
I'm in a CLE Burb.
I Hate Going into Cleveland...
The Crime Rate is Crazy!
Cheers 🍻 brother from Cleveland
From Youngstown been in Cleveland for 11 years k love it here it’s rough and tough and it’s has the potential to be a great northern version of Atlanta with advancement of black Americans in positions to help other black Americans
I'm here after the Browns just barely beat the 49ers. Lucky or not I'm proud to be from my city.😅✊🏾
I was there for that loss lol 🤦🏾♂️
Wanna get more specific about the safer areas in the “bad labeled” areas
I've been to Cleveland twice this year and find the rap the city often gets is undeserved.
Wym there ain’t no education opportunities?? Tri C? Cleveland State? CMSD and all the non profits like say yes to Cleveland? College Now Greater Cleveland?? Plenty of opportunities
You lived there 35 years...ugh I'm from there and can't even fathom that. Place sucks!
What about Youngstown Ohio is it safe there ?
i miss cleveland as well i live in houston last 10 years but lived in cleveland for 7 years.
Fresh water?😅😅
E140 . ST.clair here!
I love Cleveland, but don't live there from and live in y-town. It suck it gets a bad rep but I've taken out of town friends and they were impressed with it.
I lived in Cleveland since I was born
Appreciate ya bruh. Just moved up to Garfield Heights from Miami. DON'T look forward to the cold, DO look forward to the price of living.
The videos a little long. But keep it up ✊🏾
Are you okay?
You may want to consider going back, beloved.
@@zythr9999 man I'm vibin' bruh, it's an adjustment but so far a welcomed one.

Exactly the Clark area is really the worst area in Cleveland and thats on the west side.
cleveland is pretty much same as Detroit where Im from ...used to live in Richmond Hts in the early 90s
Like how? I used to think Detroit is more fast pace and more urban culture.
I am anticipating moving to Cleveland next year. I would be coming in the middle part of the year to see the city. I am a nurse so the video was an uplift, However, is the weather that I am worry about.
Dont
If you’re a professional nurse move to university circle cause Cleveland Clinic is the 2nd best hospital in the world
Weather actually hasn’t been to bad though I’m expecting a bad winter though usually it’s fine and clears up fast
I’ve been in Cleveland for a month and a half, it’s an amazing city. I’m from LA and I love it here. I’m trying to go to medical school and complete my residency out here
Welcome and please stay a while after you graduate.
Boy has 6 minutes of medi before the outro, lol!
nobody i know consider akron canton and far suburbs cleveland
The culture is the same though. It’s all
NE Ohio
Thank you for your video but let's not associate poverty with the east side of Cleveland. There are poor people on all sides. I grew up in Cleveland, moved away to NYC, came back to Cleveland and still live on the east side. I do not live in the hood. yes I live in the city of Cleveland (Cleveland proper). I live in a middle-class neighborhood where me and my neighbors get up every morning go to work pay our bills take care of our yards. The East side always gets a bad rap and we have to change that narrative especially for people who are thinking about coming here. let's not forget the wealthy suburbs of the EAST side: Shaker heights, Cleveland heights, Pepper Pike, etc. poverty is everywhere not just on one side of town😊
the rust belt is the rust belt for a reason. even detroit has some positives, but the fact of the matter is, most of the cities are just in rapid decline and that is just the way it is. just look at the neighborhoods that are abandoned around those cities and the crime is not going down but only up
I going tomorrow night to lay my dad to rest then by to n.c cleveland is a great city it has its up and down
I went for this first time ❤❤❤ it
I am living in Texas thinking about moving to Cleveland.
Don't be stupid son.
Same
That is not a skyline.
I'm from Cleveland. Compared to other major cities.....it sucks!
I think moving anywhere but California is a smart move
Unless you voted for the mess in that state… then stay there
@@jsofianos funny, i’m in my early 30’s, it takes more that 10 years of voting to unravel a massive system like the state of california. i get it tho.
Im born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and that city decayed i left 13 years ago never looked back tell the truth the city is a dump
You're looking back right now

I take the browns to the Super Bowl every morning.
You stole that saying from Derrick!
I thought we only said that down south. Jk it’s not a tough one to think of. And I live in Texas. Saw it on a movie about 20 years ago.
I think you are one of the only people in the comments section to tell the truth
North ridgeville is my city
Cleveland.....wack wack wack
90 percent of the east side of Cleveland is Black. Face it Cleveland is a very segregated city.
what's the real point your really trying to make?
@@roibaptiste3648 What do you mean by "Real Point"? That's is the real point that I'm making. It's a segregated city.
@@brentoncode4257 the east side of Cleveland is not 90% black..... it's about 65% black
@@roibaptiste3648 What difference does it make? The majority of the East Side is still black while the majority of the West is a mixture of Whites and Hispanics.
Don’t mix East Cleveland with the east side of Cleveland. Cleveland Heights, Beechwood, Pepper Pike, etc, all diverse.
Best explanation.
I've been wanting to move to Cleveland cause I'm a single male nut............. and the low cost housing
