      That's the intent. These are edited down from the Twitch streams so if you want to see even more how the sausage is made that's the place to go. Thanks for watching

    I have to keep reminding myself that just because Jon is nice with the octatrack, doesn't mean it'll be automatic for me if I get one. Really fighting the g.a.s. right now lol

    I thought Jon is another one of those youtuber rappers untill i saw mass appeal video of 8y ago....... Then i listened to his discography.. so thankful to see veterans coming in this twitch youtube playground and teacheing and showing behind the scene type things to us.

    I don't have an octatrack but binging your videos has already improved my Ableton workflow by applying the same rules. Really appreciate the effort put in to teach what you know

    Killer sample selection and placement. Warm cheeky vibe, this is a welcoming channel. And, yet another creator illustrating, end to end, letting it unfold, from all angles. The result still knocks hard, no dilution of the magic after witnessing the proverbial sausage .... Unapologetically, I'm lifting as many techniques as possible, while singing praise to the one who cultivated it.

    Jon, you are amazingly talented! You're take on synthesis being a time kill (another vid) and how you just get lost and enjoy the OT is so true for me. I have a MiniFreak, Reaper, and I just ordered an OT. You inspire and bring good vibes. Keep it up, man.

    Smooth and Soulful vibes. The Octatrack is a deep machine from what I have heard, but you seem to navigate though it with ease and that was really cool how you slipped that CN riff in there for a quick minute. Also love your methodical approach to making heat. Dope session.

  • @a_8764
    @a_8764 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I sold my octatrack because unfortunately I wasn't using it enough to justify the money I spent on it. It's such an amazing machine though, and I think it's underappreciated in hip hop circles. Most of the octatrack community seems to be into glitchy IDM or techno stuff (which is cool too, don't get me wrong) but it's great for almost any style.

    • @jonmakesbeats
      @jonmakesbeats  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree that there need to be more examples of different kinds of music on the Octatrack out there. It's a sampler so it's capable of any sample based music. I understand your reasoning for getting rid of yours but I think this would be the one machine I would never sell on the understanding that I could never outgrow it. It's like a box of mystery I get deeper into every time I turn it on.

    • @mindexpansionpuzzles
      @mindexpansionpuzzles ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So many uses and workflows for the Octatrack it's easy to get overwhelmed. Just take what other people are using the Octatrack for and apply it in the context of Hip hop, like EZBOT's template for using the Octatrack as an on the fly remixer with effects.

    The problem i had with the Octatrack is when making these lofi gritty tracks the sound destroyed all the hard work. Im luck enough to have got an SP1200 and the sound is amazing compared to the Octatrack which is very sterile. In the end its like a lot of work for a so so end result. Maybe you could do some heavy compression at the end?

    • @jonmakesbeats
      @jonmakesbeats  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey, Peter. I think everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but I think where ours differs is I see the Octatrack as a composition tool and not a mixing one. All of these beats are in a raw state that I then will mix in Pro Tools afterward. That being said I also make beats on the sp-1200 and the same must be done there. In fact, I would say I usually have to do more work in the mixing phase for the 1200 than I do with this. Thanks for watching.
