Honda team-mates Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa took a break from two wheels at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria swapping their Repsol Honda RC213 bikes for the might of a V8-powered Red Bull Racing RB8 as used in the 2012 F1 campaign by Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.
All this goes in preparation for the MotoGP stop in Germany. The tight Sachsenring is one of the slowest-run races on the calendar, but racing at close quarters makes for a bruising, elbows-out, all action event. The first bike races in the area were held in 1927, on the roads and streets in and around Hohenstein-Ernstthal. By 1990, and with reunification beckoning, street racing was too hazardous to continue. In 1996, the purpose-built Sachsenring was opened near Chemnitz and hosted its first MotoGP race in 1998. Many improvements have taken place since then, including a drastic layout enhancement in 2001. The 2017 event saw Marc Márquez seal victory to kickstart a late-season charge towards the title - will 2018 prove to be as pivotal?

I absolutly like that RedBull goes true such great lenghts for the greater good of sports. They might be a energy drink. But they are an enormous boost for the branch.

Der_Schützer95 everything you want with the sound of the engine, but those of now are more powerful than the predecessors, the change was due to a crisis that occurred. and the halo is for security, not aesthetic, it was a great idea that I wish had been implemented much earlier. Corporations and sponsors had no influence on this.
The halo saved multiple lives at Spa (R.I.P AH19) and probably could’ve saved Jules live
The halo is a great idea and should've been implemented much earlier.... Driver safety should always be the No.1 priority in motorsports and we have already seen instances where a halo has proved to be the only thing standing between a drivers head and a tyre

Isn't it merely against the rules to use a car less than two years old? That would permit the use of 2016 and older - definitely hybrids included. Don't quote me on that though.
Regardless and/or in addition to, I think for things like this it's just a lot easier for newbies to wrap their heads around as few things as possible, not having to worry about regen and the difference in brake feel that brings with it for example.

well, it's completely a different things. especially torque, g force, adrenaline. in opened wheel racing cars you have to hold your body from extremely high g force while turning, and it's harder than i thought.
@@aksa3227 Moto GP is much harder and also far more dangerous. That's why they don't do the swap with F1 drivers on a bike.

Well for 1 a good f1 driver is someone who has balls and isnt scared to push it he already has an advantage there he knows racing lines regardless I gaurintee give him a few months he could be really really good hes already good I mean consistency but yeah awesome stuff to see
Being a motorcycle racer,its a little tough first off because we move on our bikes a lot to get strapped in tight and not be able to move but that is the way they do it in cars,I just started karting and had some trouble because,I'm clostophobic,and it took me having to change my visor window size because the cars corner so much faster my vision field that guides me thru a corner on a bike was making me dizzy so I had to change and remove some of my field of view to start going fast in a cart or quit,now I limit how much I look at because the whole scenery does not have to be processed plus with bikes you sit higher on the machine that was the hardest thing to deal with braking zone view angles are so much lower with the seat scraping the ground literally a big change from a bike seat height,well done Marco,well done,I tuned in to see how well he did,and I was not disappointed because I expected that he would adapt well,because he had an open mind to learning,or so it seems to me...bravo...nice...

MotoGP is such a superior motorsport to F1 at the moment that it should be F1 drivers doing laps on MotoGP bikes. See if they can get within a minute of the lap times the pros do it in.
Its relatively harder to survive in F1 though, because the car affects your time a lot compared to gp bikes
That's the difference between MotoGP and F1. F1 is entirely about the car whereas MotoGP is 75% about the rider.
