Step 1: Brush and floss your teeth like you normally would first.
Step 2: Take one plaque disclosing tablet, place it in the mouth and chew it thoroughly. Younger children may require only half a tablet. Do not swallow it. Mix with saliva and spread it around the mouth and all over the teeth and gums with your tongue.
Step 3: Spit out saliva carefully (it can be messy) and then rinse your mouth out with water. Depending on how much excess dye remains you may need to rinse again.
Step 4: Pay attention to areas of the mouth where brushing and flossing could be improved. The plaque will be shown or highlighted by dark patches to which the dye in the tablet has stuck. In many instances old plaque (older than 12 hours will stain Blue) with new plaque (less than 12 hours old) staining Red/Pink.
Step 5: Brush and floss your teeth thoroughly to remove the stains and plaque buildup.

Technically yes. However, I don't think you need to use everyday. Every few days or once a week should be enough to help you learn what areas you need to pay more attention to.

I use the red ones and they make my tounge really bright red for around a month, so I stopped using them

My dentist gave me really similar stuff for the same purpose. Only difference is its like a watery food dye is there a diffrent way to use this?
Ok so a liquid version. It does the same job. Best to consult the instructions for that product, but usually it is a case of brushing it onto the teeth or swishing it around the mouth.

How long does it take to ware off your teeth
It comes off as soon as you brush it away.
It will stain your tongue for a few hours. But with normal eating and drinking etc it quickly goes away.

What's your opinion on Plaque HD toothpaste?
To be honest Misty, although I am aware of this product I have not actually tested it. Feedback I have seen from others, notably dental professionals has been fairly positive.
It is a product I expect to test in the near future.

What does it taste like
They don't really taste of much. Some I have used have had a blackcurrant type flavour.
When is the best time t use? Before brushing or after?
You can do either. Some will do after because it then shows what is left. Some do before because it shows how bad it is in the first place.
Typically I tend to use before.
I'd say after. Before you brush, you know your teeth are completely covered with plaque. If you use the tablet after brushing you'll know the places where it stays, for example because you spend less time brushing there, or because the plaque is more tenacious there.

No it should not stain the teeth Alex. Any staining is temporary, of the plaque. It will go as you clean the plaque away.

Interesting question. How long was it between the cleaning and the time you came to brush? I suspect you ate and drank in between the cleaning? If so this is likely from that.

Is it okay to use it when you have braces?
Yes it is normally. It can potentially dye any coloured bands you may have around the brackets on your braces. Best to check with your orthodontist first, just in case.

Hello from Turkey. Do these tablets leave a permanent stain on the laminate coatings? Can I use?
They shouldn't do. Normally marks on laminate worktops from these can be cleaned off. But I have not done extensive testing.

It is up to you. Some will do it once every few days whilst they perfect their brushing routine. Once they have they may do it infrequently such as every few months or once a year.

I have a question. Can I use them before I clean my teeths? For example to use them before and after clean my teeths how I know and then see the places I missed. Does it work this way too?
You could, but if you do it before you brush, at the end of cleaning you will still see what you have missed as it will be still coloured on the teeth, so there is no need to really do it again.

Yes I suspect you can buy these locally, although I can't specifically advise where.

It can do a little. Most of it will come off with a good rinse under the tap as the plaque on the brush is washed away.

They don't tend to taste that sweet. The flavour will depend on the brand. I can't say the ones I have tried have had a Blueberry flavour.

Great question. I don't know the answer for sure, possibly, but the results might not be as effective. I don't think the food colouring would stain the plaque in the same way. It certainly wouldn't show old and new plaque.

It could be worth checking with your orthodontist. It should be fine, but the dye used can cause some attachments for braces etc to stain.

Catia. You can buy plaque disclosing tablets from places like Amazon or from pharmacies. You may find them in your local supermarket/grocery store too.
They are safe for children and it is often kids that get the most benefit from them.

It can potentially stain the toothbrush bristles a little. But usually it cleans/rinses off fairly easily.
