A brief clip where the contestant enters is in the documentary "The Quiz Show Scandal."
Been wanting to see this show for YEARS, so thanks!!!

The female contestant here (Terry Curtis) was the biggest winner in the show's brief history. She later revealed that she was provided the questions and answers in advance.

I always wondered that when I heard about this show. I have little doubt they made up that story about the lost cheque too.

@@franksantore2810 of course the story was fake
in all these shows, enright made deals with the contestants about how much they would actually win and it was never the amount announced on the show
and no one in their right mind would walk around the streets of nyc with a check that large
as much as what they did was beneath contempt, they did things that are still in use by the unreality shows of today.
they were pioneers in "unscripted/scripted" tv

For anyone who doesn't know, John Van Doren was Charles Van Doren's younger brother and was also a writer an scholar. Both died just over 2 months apart in 2019: John on January 27th, Charles on April 9th.

to the channel owner, you missed the on the show evidence that this show was fixed and both celebs and contestants were provided the answers
cabinet members....when van doren says marshall a second time, he notes that he had already said mashall...the contestant does the exact same thing using almost the same words
    not a coincidence

$76,000 is worth $707,600 in 2020. That’s a huge amount of cash!! I always wonder on these shows, were the contestants really this intelligent or were they given some help before hand? I’m no genius but I couldn’t name that many cabinet members of the previous president. I admit I do pretty good on shows like Jokers Wild and Tic Tac Dough buy these are some really tough questions. Great to see this though as I’ve never seen this show before.

all of the big money quiz shows of the time were fixed in some way.
it's sad that this is the only show that was saved
unless the networks saw the possibility of syndication, they would destroy the tapes of a program
for educational purposes it would be facilitating to be able to see all the episodes

Fixed. This is Twenty One with three celebrities and a more expensive set. Same game show host, same producers, contestants and celebrities struggle through the answers the same way as on Twenty One. I am glad that Don Pardo was never implicated. I wonder if she ever got the $72,000 check. I wonder if Dan Enright bought the dress or if it was supplied by the NBC wardrobe department.
