We bought our awning about 3 years ago and have used it hundreds of times over the three years.
This is what we love and hate about it.

Turn the L bracket so the short side is facing up not down. This will allow you to mount the whole thing further back on the roof rack, both eliminating the gap and giving you more head hight
I had considered that but 2 problems. Our garage only allows 2.1m and the awning on the van would then be too high AND we often carry a storage pod and 2 surf skis on the roof racks. If I move the awning in it wouldn’t all fit. But a great suggestion
A great review of your KINGS awning. Showing the many positive features and also the negative (space between awning and van) - and the effective solutions to side of awning together with special pegs. My suggestion to Kings would be to supply as an optional feature - would be small awning from awning box to extend backwards over the van and be stabilized by means of two octopus straps to drivers side of van wheels.
Maybe you should get into the designing business 😉
Great video & Tips
Thanks
Tried to put mine up today... it was windy...
Long story short... my car got dented and it almost got ripped off the car.
Popped a few rivets....
Its still functional..
But yeah gotta be carefull in the wind..
Oh damn. That’s how we broke our first one! A gust of wind came and it wasn’t tied down. We didn’t damage the car, just busted the awning. Now the first step is tying it down!
You can avoid the mildew by putting down a ground mat.
We now have a ground mat and it’s a game changer!
Mildew isn't dew, neither is condensation.
Thanks for posting. Can you please tell me where you got those awning clips?
We bought them from Road Tech Marine
