I love watching your videos because they are informative, practical, and fun to watch but two because I'm in lockdown where I live so this keeps my spirits up and makes me desperately want to get back to skating again.

Ah hah - I always feel like I'm bending sideways at the waist, I definitely need to engage the core more and lift at the hip instead; same thing with thinking more about what my shoulders are doing than my arms probably. Thank you, the detailed insights you give are so useful!

Been in lockdown for 3 and a half months. My coach texted telling the ice rink was opening next week. I swear I screamed. This is probably better than a birthday present! I can't wait going back on the ice. My spirals are a bit weak, only because I have skated for 3 years, but thanks for this awesome video!

Julia, your form is impeccable! My biological mother was a champion synchro skater for her province, and she gave me some tips on how to turn your leg up & out so high, but I'm still having trouble. How do you do it? Your core/glutes/upper legs must be solid muscle! I guess I need to work on that off the ice as well lol. 😬

Wonderful video!!! I was just wondering about pushing those hips back in a spiral so that question has been answered, it feels more stable indeed. I accidentally go into an inside spiral so I'm not straight enough at that moment, I'll work on that. Can't imagine doing it backwards but it's fun to look forward to.

Hey Julia I’d like to know your thoughts on Eteri Tuberdidz and within your group of students, do they look up to the older generation of skaters or the new generation.
Do you hear more of your students telling you I’d like to be like…..
A )Tonya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan , Oksana Bayul and Tara Lipinski
    B) Sasha Cohen, Michelle Kwan, Irina Slutskaya, shisuka Arakawa, and Mao Asada
C ) Yulia Lipnitzkaya, Ashley Wagner, Gracie Gold, Adelina Sotnikova, Kim Yuna, Alina Zagitova, Alexandra Trusova and Evegnia Medeva.

Interesting question. Definitely C. A lot of young skaters at my rink would t even know who the skaters of A or B even are. It’s sad because skaters like Katerina Witt, Brian Boitano, Kurt Browning, Etc, we’re skaters I really looked up to as a kid, and my students have no idea who they are.

    • @sarizonana
      @sarizonana 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@CoachJulia that’s sad they don’t know the older skating generations the ones who changed a lot of things for the new generation. I understand them a little since it’s asking new kids to love the Beatles or Rolling Stones no ? but still sad. I’m mostly into the 2000s generation but the influence on the triple axel is due to Tonya Harding and the focus on so many spirals it’s due to Sasha Cohen.
Anyway you could teach your students about older generations and give them homework to watch some skaters from the 90s and 00s.
From Tonya they could learn it’s great to have a more athletic body type while from Sasha her balletic moves and interpretation of the music.
And do you think Eteri is going way too far in her teaching methods or do you think she is a good coach?
I personally think there is something wrong with Eteri is not normal how many skaters she looses and how soon many of her girls retire like Alina or Yulia.

An ice skater told me that my advantage was the Classical Dance. I know it because I’m always standing straight and ice dancing is different for me , I don’t like to slide Backward.
I’ve learned with you My Julia forward figures and my spread Eagle was right but by forward as an ” Ina Bauer ” that I make to slide on one foot forward and then I just have to lay my foot standing on the ice and be Straight.
Backward figures are not for me but one day I should make but I still a dancer and I’ve never skating before just at School but I was 9.
I’m going to the rink tomorrow and make a spiral Finished by a lunge and à Russian forward Stroking.
I have TWIZZLES to know and I was afraid so, I’ve made only one turn and it’s 3 turns.
Thanks for my comments but it’s the truth . And tomorrow will be my 19th times on a rink. I have muy own syntetic Rink as you know but I ’m gone and it’s on a box.
Julia, you’re really right for Everybody.
May we have ice dancing figures or May you try an Ina Baeur by cross over and forward. 🌬🤍 Thanks so much
