I caramalize onions in large batches - 12 lbs +/- in two large Dutch ovens. I keep a jar of them handy to toss on to soups & stews (extra depth of flavour & fast), or put a bunch right out of the jar on scrambled eggs, salads or on hamburgers. A jar of them makes a great gift
I came here looking for tips in how to freeze my butternut squash soup because I was not sure if I could freeze it. Try to blend your butternut squash with some pine nuts. Thank you very much for the video
I just freeze dried some from scratch broccoli/cheese soup last week... I'll have to try this one... Have you done any videos on freeze drying cat/dog food for emergency situations? Love your videos...
I just found you today as I was researching (and then ordering) the Harvest Right. Your videos are great, and quite helpful. I'm excited to try it out. And looking over your videos, I find it hilarious that I have mostly the same stuff as you -- Vitamix, Instant Pot, Traeger, and I swear you were using a Knork fork that I also have! Keep it up!
@@thefreezedryingcommunity I guess I was wrong about the Knork. It's a company that makes flatwear that has better ergonomic design and allows you to cut food with the edge much better than regular forks. www.knork.net
It’s savory? I never tried always thought it would be sweet/gummy like sweet potatoes. Anyways now I have to grow some, cook, and freeze dry. That was your freeze dried vegetable broth too I think? Thank you your videos inspire and educate as always.
Yep you can freeze dry your veggie broth into a powder and use it for all kinds of things. We also grew some spaghetti squash that was sweet so now i have seeds for a sweet variety next year👌
Did you set it for 32 hours or was it automatic? Mine is finishing up around 22 hours for a test batch of soup. Do you have a cheat sheet of set times I could possibly use?
Tried this today....WAY too much garlic! Half would maybe be right. And my sqush was way bigger than yours.. And I only used 2.5 cups broth and it was almost too thin. You gotta like.garlic ALOT to use that much! Unless....your recipe was wrong. In the video you used single squash with the other ingredients you mentioned. But then you had 4 trays. (2 squash) Are all.other ingredients u listed meant for single squash?
I looked all through your notes and the comments. Plus the recipe book and could not locate the recipe for your rub that you stated in the video. Please share the recipe fpr the rub with us. Thanks and happy FDing.

Doing bread today, new video tomorrow!
Great vid. Have you ever had trouble pulling a vacuum in your Harvest Right FD? I'm trouble-shooting mine now.
Just once when I was having trouble with my pump. I have a video on how to do a vacuum test
Can I freeze dry slices of uncooked squashes?

What kit is that at start of video? Did you finish it yet? Kit fox?
I believe it was a ridge runner? I cant remember. It came from an auction. I have anither video of buying and selling it.

Did you freeze dry this as liquid? Or solid?
I usually do soup as liquid, the machine will adjust if necessary.
More dog in videos! Puppy!
What happens if you don't pre freeze your meat
It will take quite a bit longer for the entire cycle because you are using the machine to freeze it opposed to the freezer.
@@thefreezedryingcommunity old analog machine ran 40 hours. Surprised something that never got used still runs
