I don't have CDL but I thought I read where you can't have the air hoses and light cable touching the catwalk. I think I read that is a DOT violation but I could be wrong. I'm trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible and not trying to act like I know because I don't. I'm actually asking a question for someone who may know more about it and if it's actually a situation that can get you in a citation or cause actual problems. ???
About the condition of the roads in Michigan: the annual freeze/thaw cycles and with kajillions of heavy vehicles on the roads make for bad roads. You can't keep those roads in perfectly smooth shape year after year. No one has the budget for that. There are quite a few roads, especially the farther north you go, that your truck are not allowed on during the thaw right after winter.
I have noticed that you don’t visually look for no-gap between fifth wheel and trailer, or check to make sure lock jaws are around king pin, or perform tug test when connecting to trailer. I have been driving trucks for 10 years and have witnessed drivers dropping trailers because of this. Also check your trailer lifts up slightly when connecting to trailer. I haven’t seen you do this on your videos so far. I would hate for this to happen to any driver…be safe and good luck 👍
Michigan roads are horrible due to the freeze thaw, over use of salt, the highest gross truck weight in the country at 164k lbs, and 2 decades of corruption of lowest bidder construction and maintenance contracts. The current governor ran on a campaign of 'fix the damn roads' and they have been trying but the concentration has been on bigger road infrastructures issues mainly bridges where over 10% were deficient due to lack of maintenance.
Trucks weighing so much don’t do any extra damage, the extra weight is spread across 11 axles. 13k per trailer axle. The damage is from the frost laws, the standard 18 wheeler does more damage to the roads than the heavy haulers do.
The condition of our roads is probably the easiest way to tell your in Michigan
I live in Brownstown!
For a rookie sure do a good job backing in and to docks.
Boom back!

Over use of salt 🤣 that’s why MI has 100 vehicle pile ups because of salt over use 👍🏼
Check engine light is always on.
Most trucks are like that one bad sensor will make it come on
Every time mine came on like that it was usually a sensor or it needed a forced regeneration. The DPF systems suck so many problems.
