I build a moto cross once out of 1977 yz frame and your dt 175 engine it was fast those days from 1977 to 1981 they used same frames on yamaha.my friend bought that bike from me,those 70s bikes were good easy to fix and simple, the good old days.you took me back 40 years, thanks.good video
Not the first bike I got as a kid but my favorite one for sure. I would get up around 8 in the morning and ride all day, every day until sundown. I loved every single second of it. I'd usually go through around 3-4 rear tires a summer. Oh yeah, it's faster to just unclip the ignition wiring under the left side of the tank than it is to use a key. I found that out the first time my old man took my key away for some assinine reason. This example seems to be knocking as if from detonation. It may be running a bit lean.
This is the same bike I learned how to ride on. Pop picked it up in the late 80's for about $200. Guy used to race them so it was stripped of all street stuff. We beat the piss out of that bike!! Still have it. Been sitting for years.
chance mosier same here I just turned 21 and I have a 1976 175cc Enduro that's been sitting in our barn for about 35+ years. it's all siezed up in the motor. basically needs a total restore. roughly how much would it take to have a full restoration? and are parts hard to find? Im in the Northeast PA. thanks let me know!
I had a 175 A 74 model. Slow untill I completely gutted the entire exhaust and muffler and rejetted it with a #180 main. It ran like a scalded dog after that.
I had this bike back in circa 1978. We had it up at the A-Frame in Vermont that my beautiful father built. May he and my dear mother Rest In Peace.
Wow dude!!!
Thanks for that clip
I had one in my youth and this brought a tear to my eye
I used to love my DT175 in the 70's....so cool and a great ride

Miss mine...I also had the 400 from the same year. Yamaha is fantastic.
I love classic yamahas. I like when he said "IL give it a kick." you only need to kick it one time and this bike is 40 years old. amazing.

Same here!
The first things to go were always the turn signals and street legal tires. I nice MX knobby in front and back and you're ready to go.
Very rad bike man. Just picked up one of these, a 76' 175 enduro street legal ca. And a 75' 125 enduro off highway use only. Winter projects =]
Got one too. Awesome.
Nice , just picked one up ,1976 dt 175

I had one of these as a kid. Talk about a heavy and slow machine. I loved it, but outgrew it pretty fast.

This was faster than any 125 MX bike of the era.
