youre right 100%. toya was not born out of love but born with endeavors ambitions placed on his shoulders. and when endeavor removed the responsibility of being his heir he removed all the attention as well. toya as a 7-8 year old kid had his fathers attention for a bit and then was neglected, and it made him think that he needed to get stronger to gain it back. so i think it was less about toya being stubborn and him realizing that the only way to get his fathers love was for him to be his heir "i'll make you glad i was born!" that line says it all really. if endeavor would have just sat down and said that he doesnt care about him being a hero and he will love him anyways, AND actually spent time with his son like an actual father does i promise you toya loses the will to train immediately
Yep. It really all boils down to neither Rei nor Enji not knowing how to be loving parents. Enji being too focused on out-doing All Might and Rei seems to come from an unloving family considering the circumstances she was placed in. It only makes sense she wouldn't know how to act like a proper mother if her own mother never was one toward her.
@Luis Fraga you’re almost right on your analysis. Touya may not have been born out of love but it is clearly displayed Endeavor stopped training Toya and told him multiple times why he doesn’t want him training is because his own flames will burn/kill him. All out of love and care deep down. BUT the biggest mistake is that Endeavor did not properly show love equally to all his kids and miscommunication. He absolutely was a shitty father because he doesn’t know how to be proper one. He had tunnel vision of his selfish ambition but clearly he had care for his kids deep down inside but sadly did not show that

@@ayselengin1798 He didn't know how to AND he didn't care. Even if he tried, I highly doubt he would have been successful.
For me watching this entire flashback it showed that in the end this was entirely Endeavor's responsibility. He's the one who lit the fire under Toya to be obsessed with becoming the number 1 hero he's the one who burned it into Toya's brain that this was the reason he was created and now it's like they're discarding him like a broken toy. So by the time him and Rei attempted to stop him it was already too late the damage had been done to Toya's mind. He's a monster of Endeavor's making and the entire situation is so messed up 😔
This always made me feel for him man, such a emotional episode. Endeavor just gave up on being any sort of father for him once he thought he wouldn’t surpass all might, and then just replaced him with the next kid I’d be pissed too
Endeavor didn't want Touya to get hurt but Endeavor himself didn't give up on his selfish dreams. "I want Touya to stop cause he's hurting himself" - that's care and love. No doubt about it. But as soon as he said - "This is the only way to stop him (he implied that he wants more kids to surpass All Might and replace Touya). Touya could never surpass All Might." - That's not love and care. That's called being too selfish to understand what you actually have to do for your child as a father.
I’ve been saying this a lot, but “The wrong way to put out a fire” is honestly a perfect way of looking at what Endeavor did to Touya. Endeavor sparked the fire, and instead of giving it calm and gentle water or something to put it out, he basically poured gasoline and paint thinner on it, and then proceeded to ignore the fire and let it build, not realizing that he was not only the root of the problem but also the main one making it worse.
And by the time he did realize it, it’s all just too little too late.
It really did spiral out of his control.
6:11 - Endeavor telling Rei to completely take Touya's responsibility; that he won't take it anymore from then on. Again, here Endeavor ran away from his responsibility as a father.

What's sad is that, in season 2, Rei was telling Shoto to become a hero that's not like his father. But here she's telling Touya not to become a hero at all. And that broke him. Also, I know Touya was being rude to his mom and he shouldn't have said those things to her, but he was spitting out facts. We don't know what Rei's actually situation was, but according to Endeavor, she could've refused this whole quirk marriage agreement. But she didn't do it. She knew this was all wrong yet she went along with it. Later she gave birth to Touya and now she's giving him advices about life choices and stuff. Not gonna lie, but Rei was also being a bit hypocrite here. Not only she failed as a mother but also her words were contradicting her actions. Touya got mad because she was discouraging him to become a hero unlike what she usually did with Shoto and also she was giving him advices which she never followed herself.
Might I add that Rei willingly chose to birth more children knowing Endeavor's ambitions. She could've said no. Yeah, there'd be repercussions. Endeavor might've disowned her & Toya. But any good mother would stand up for their child, not make more children knowing it's "replacing" their firstborn. So yeah! It comes as no surprise that Toya has a negative perception of women because his own mother didn't have his back.
This may sound controversial, but I think with Toya's situation, both parents are equally at fault.

Thanks for supporting my opinion. On other reaction channels, my opinion got too much hate. Regardless if what I think is true or not, I guess this subplot triggers so many people that you have to agree on everything. At the end of the day, this is just an anime for entertainment.
The crying is actually implied to be a quality of his quirk. The manga does a better job of expressing things but your quirk literally influences your behavior and personality. Things like Overhauls OCD -like tendency and hives, Shigarakis itching and Bakugos explosive anger are implied to be influenced by their quirk factors.
overhaul s 'ocd' comes from his abuse towards eri, soetimes people who hurt otherwise might get traumatized by what they did and shigaraki s itch comes from stress at home, kids who are too stressed might feel itchy or have stomach pain. and bakugou s anger isnt really related to his quirk, he is not angru because of his quirk, he is angry because his ego is praised.
You pointed out such an important detail that people have overlooked. Yes Endeavor and the others have pointed out that Toya is getting burns so that's why they want him to stop but they never explained why and correctly sat him down and told him all the details. They never said that we went to the doctor and he told us why you're getting burns and that for your sake it's best that you stop and tell Toya something like we acknowledge how talented you are and that we love you so please let us help you find another path... But they never did that especially Endeavor he just threw the responsibility onto Rei but he wanted his attention not his mom's convincing him would've only worked it came from Endeavor's mouth but he ran away from the responsibility and as a result Dabi was born 😭
its not just what they said, those words wouldnt matter since their actions wouldnt change, touya is smart kid so he knew the truth.
@@ayselengin1798 I disagree with that because both Endeavor and Rei (Mostly Endeavor) handled the Toya situation terribly. Endeavor made Toya believe his only purpose in life was to be the number 1 hero and that's why he was created and Endeavor just chooses to stop training him saying hey you're getting burned so stop it already and then starts popping out new kids to replace him with... He could've at least tried to explain it better than that 😂
@@gantashiro978 actions matters more than words. thats the thing. explanatipn isnt enough. they, no, endeavoıur have to show he cares with his actions, by spending time with him, by not neglecting his other kids, by not forcing shouto to train, by acting like decent father, that would solve the problem. i am saying it wouldnt change anything since endeavour used shouto to replace touya besaically touya was right. he knew the truth. truth is endeavour didnt care his family enough to change his ways. touya already knew he was stopped because he was burning himself but he also knew that that wasnt the primary cocnern for endeavour. thats the thing.
It's heartbreaking that Toya mindset wise is the child Endeavor wanted, the one person in the family who had the drive to fulfill his ambitions unlike all the others who hated it. And if Toya and Shoto could've traded places everything would've fallen into place, that would've given Shoto the excuse to just live a normal life and Toya could surpass All Might. When Endeavor is dragging Shoto while Shoto says he wants to play with Toya while Toya stares at them it's clear he wishes he could trade places.
no, it wouldnt. touya would still be used as tool for endeavour. the point is both shouto and touya wanted to be each others a place but they both stil be miserable anyway because neglect and training, both was abuse and would be painfull different way.
@@ayselengin1798 I disagree because before Endeavor had decided to stop training Toya we saw in those flashbacks that Toya actually looked happy even asking Endeavor to teach him an ultimate move, stuff that Shoto never asked because he didn't wanna do any of it in the first place.
You’re absolutely right. Touya wants everything Shouto got. He barely even saw what Shouto went through as abuse. He saw it as having Enji’s attention.
@@blacknoise True and this is just an observation but I think part of why it was so abusive for Shoto is because he didn't want to be what Endeavor was forcing him to become. Toya was the exact opposite to Shoto he was embracing the role Endeavor was putting on him but we saw how it all ended 😔
@@gantashiro978 Shouto got the short end of the stick from EVERYONE. He got the culmination of Enji's obsession (AND, because people forget this a lot, also Enji's toxic protectiveness. I don't think the anime showed it that well but Enji doesn't at all do well with his kids getting hurt. It's a bit part of the reason he had empathy for Deku having a quirk that hurts his body to use. Touya was hurting himself, and he was unstable enough to try to hurt Shouto, so Enji decided "isolate Shouto for his safety/to train him" and "avoid Touya so he'll give up trying to hurt himself for my dreams" were good ideas and ended up screwing both boys up even more.)
He also got the culmination of his mom's breakdown, and the culmination of Touya's resentment.
He got the rawest deal just by being born.
