Just beautiful! I recall mine from a very long time ago. By God, did turn heads. It's such a shame that we can't keep all of our precious things. I'd love to be back in 1988, and be 18 again. This was my favorite memory.

I took a Beautiful 2nd hand VFR1000R for a 1 hour, 245KPH Test ride in 1987, down a rough section of Highway and twisty Backroad in West Auckland.
Mind Blowing Sound/Torque/Stable handling!!!!! Me and the Honda spent 1/2 the time in the Air, It was a WONDERFUL RIDE!
I didn't mention to the salesman I could not afford the $10,000 price tag.
SO GLAD I took the opportunity when it came, I was 18 and I have ridden 100's of different 'Bikes, the VFR was a STANDOUT!
A VERY Special piece of Motorcycle Engineering.

I just sold mine. Was my first bike about 15 years ago. Due to a lack of space I finally had to let her go. She had 135.000 km's on her and still ran like a swiss watch. Over-engineering at its finest. V4 4 ever. 👌

Lucky Guy!!! I have the White 84, VFR 1000. Needs so much work, don't even know where to begin!!! I bought it in 1993, in Minnesota. I put over 25,000 miles on her, up until May 2000.

I used to visit the Honda dealership and sit on these bikes after school while waiting for the bus....Time has gone past since those days....

When I was 23 a guy I knew had this bike let me take it for a drive, I fell in love immediately. It had everything: Looks, power, speed, comfort. Later he would offer to sell it to me and I would pass on it because of lack of funds. I've regretted it ever since. I'm 57 and have been riding for 37 years, it's the ONE bike I regret never having owned.

I owned a 1985 VF1000R for many years. I worked at University hospitals in Cleveland Ohio. My VF1000R was stolen from work while it was parked in the police department parking lot parked under a security camera. They recovered the frame 10 years later. Enjoy your wonderful beast of a Superbike. I miss mine. :)

Had same bike bought it brand new in San Diego.
For the time it was way ahead in engine tech, V4 water cooled and cam gear driven. Friend had FJ1100 said he could hear my bike coming up behind him at 70mph.
    Good great times.

Awesome! I had an fj1200 (LOVED IT). Especially with it's 4 to 1 V&H open exhaust! But it wasn't the vf.

Did you get that front tyre off a truck? I wouldn't go around any corners too fast if I was you. I had the same bike for years, they had some serious things wrong with them but I've still got a soft spot for them

    👍👍WONDERFULL SOUND!!!!! I just bought a VF1000R yesterday👍unsampled and i have one question:
What do you know about the exhaust, it looks like it’s beautyfully homemade. Can you see what it’s made of and is it one big hole all the way through? I really love that sound.

    • @TonysSuperBikeGarage

Hi! Its one big hole all the way. It is stainless steel. Made by? Nice sound.

Were you able to get those tires on the stock Comstar rims without any modifications? I have an 85 and am due for a new set. Please let me know what you had to do to get them on. Thanks.

Nice bike, love the custom exhaust! It's been a year since you posted the vid: Can you tell what your experiences are: What's good about this bike and what's not?

I just love the design and the look. I like the sound from the engine. But..... its very heavy, you have to keep the speed up. A classic veteran Honda.

HI. I think you have to go to Öhlins homepage and write them a letter for that info. Mine, I am not shure about model, it was on the bike when i bought it.

Hi, I have the same bike. I'm working on it right now. Once I adjusted the valves and clean the carburetor. I'm looking to replace the front, rear sprockets and chain. Do you have any recommendation? thank you

Hi MR Truong Ho. Just buy the best you could find. As you know the engine is pulling hard and it is a heavy bike.

@@TonysSuperBikeGarage i'm doing a valve adjustment but unable to turn the crank bolt counter clockwise is this the right position, if so look like the engine is stuck from sitting for 22 years. Thanks

@@TruongLe-eo8kh Does not sound good. Have you taken out the sparkplugs. Have a good portion of 5/56 go into each cylinder and let it be there ower the night. Maybee some light thin engineoil. to. How did it look under the valvecovers? I wish you luck. Why not turn clockwise.

@@TonysSuperBikeGarage Mr. TONY, I HAVE BAD NEWS the engine is stuck. The carb is out of the engine. When I look down, so much rust on the valves and the stem. After letting it sit for days with a lot of Mystery Marvel Oil MMO in the cylinder piston through spark plug holes and a lot directly onto the rusty valves, I was able to just barely move a little by rocking the bike back and forth. I can hear hissing sound coming from cylinder #2 that's all. I just added more tonight and let it sit again. I found another use engine about 1 hr away but it would need second gear work . Owner said he shows me a shop where they under cut the gear to fix the problem. I also subscribed to VFR forum. Guys from there are giving me tips. They say go ahead and buy the use engine and repair the second gear with has less work than complete tear down for my rusty engine.
