I just wanted to say thank you for providing this information. I have used this method with great success for the extensive amount of buckthorn that was overtaking my small woodlot.
I made one. Cut toe of sock and put over sponge and put edges of sock in hole to keep sponge in hole coz sponge kept coming out. I love being in woods cutting and killing invasives. Wish could do it for living.😊
What if I want to use glyphosate in different concentrations for an experiment? How can i make sure that the concentration don't get mixed up? Or what if I want to use another herbicide after using Glyphosate? Such a nice video by the way.
We recommend always following the label directions for any herbicide application. Chemical applications are highly regulated and using chemicals outside of the amounts listed could have harmful effects and is illegal. Contact a local biologist, chemical representative, Ag Extension office, or other local resource professional for site specific recommendations. This will include the best site preparations for chemical applications to achieve the desired results.
This is brilliant!! I was looking for some method to kill bushes and small trees between my neighbor's fence and mine. It is just a foot or so of space so this is going to allow me to reach the roots easily when I cut them with a small saw. Every trick here in YT is about bushes and trees in open spaces. Thank you!!
Sumac trees are not invasive, they are native to northeast USA. Unless you mean tree-of-heaven? ToH is an invasive tree that looks strikingly similar to sumac and is found all over North America in large numbers.
Yes, using a spray bottle is also an effective form of herbicide application, especially on basal bark treatments and larger stumps. The "Kill Stick" works well on smaller stems when herbicide applications can become more frequent and strenuous.
Do you know how to kill the root system of a trumpet vine (campsis radicans)? I killed the vine itself by shaving the bark off and painting the trunk several times between 2 seasons with straight concentrated roundup. It took 2 seasons to kill it. However the root system is still very much alive. It sends out tubers/runners and those runners send up seedlings all over my yard. Last year, I sprayed every seedlings every week during the summer with a selective herbicide (so as to not kill my lawn) but all it does is kill the seedlings, not the whole root system. In fact, it seems the runners are more active now than before I killed the vine. Any tips? This is a very invasive/noxious plant in my area.
Vlad The Impaler Țepeș III are you able to obtain 2 4d and place directly on the root. The product is controlled in my state so only certified herbicide applicators can obtain the product.
2 4d is the main herbicide in many widely available selective herbicides in home depot and lowes and does nothing to kill the root system of a trumpet vine.
Mike Johnson you don't have any land do you? I bet you live in some city driving to and fro. I've had enough of inexperienced city dwellers telling hardened land owners and developers how to do it. have you even cut a tree down before?
Round-Up (aka glyphosate) does not kill everything. Try killing highly invasive species like Campsis Radicans (aka Trumpet Creeper) with Round-up. As soon as you apply the round up, the trumpet creeper will laugh at you with the most evil, bone chilling laugh you have ever heard.
Not for woody plants encountered in habitat management. As Nunya said, there are quite a few plants that Roundup won't touch. I've had good luck with Garlon 4 for basal bark applications.

Great to hear, we're glad you have success and we appreciate your support of local habitat!

Great! We're glad to hear it! Thank you for your support of conservation.

We're glad you enjoyed the video Gloria, good luck with your project!
Might want to try a small 4-6" for paint t roller instead of the sponge just drill the appropriate sized hole in the end cap and wedge it in.
great videos guys, this helped me get rid of a bunch of hickory saplings choking my chestnut trees
That's great! We're glad it was helpful for you!
I'm in Mass. Would this concoction work in invasive Sumac trees?

Vlad The Impaler Țepeș III hogs for the tubers and goats for the vines.

So, basically, a giant magic marker?
does it work for weeping willows?
Yes, it sure does!
Nebraska Pheasants Forever good deal. I've cut this tree down twice since I've lived on my property. what's an appropriate mixture for that tree?
Pete suggests 1 part Remedy Herbicide and 3 parts dyed diesel fuel
Nebraska Pheasants Forever : Polluting the land with these toxins , is stupid dinosaur thinking.
Tho you'll probably get cancer from this poison.

Clever !

Thanks - nice
just use Tahoe 3A. you're risking heavy fines with the plant board using diesel.
As per the Label - Remedy” herbicide can be applied as an oil-water emulssion using diesel - as are many registered herbicides
Just use Round-Up. That will kill anything vegetable. And get around the tree hugging loonies in the local community council
round-up has nothing on remedy. The cost is high. Remedy is about $90 a gallon and produces 4 gallons of finished product.

It's pronounced ERBacide..silent H, unless you've named your device Herbert.
Haha!
