I use vinegar and table salt. Table salt can kill you, so I know it works. I drilled holes in a stump poured in the salt and then the vinegar. The stump turned into dust in less than a month. On my way out to do another now, someone offered to do it for $230. No way.
I have a half dying 4 ft shrub in front of my yard that just chainsawed off, but the roots and stump hard to remove. Will this kill vinegar and table salt like you did kill it with drilling holes? I was just gonna spray it.
I find vinegar has a "through the fires" effect. It kills MOST plants. But sometimes they pull through and are insanely stronger and just grow really fast.
I used the industrial strength vinegar, epsom salt & dawn dish soap on 3 trees last spring/ summer. drilled holes as deep as I could, filled with solution then covered with dirt & mulch, some say to cover with plastic bag but I have too much wild life around for that. I repeated several times. My tree stumps seem to be dead, there has been no new growth and the bark has fallen. I also use this solution as a weed killer on sidewalks, driveway but not in flowerbed or garden (obviously)
@@Fardafaghad Sorry, I don't know the science details but I have tried 2 other brands without the same effect. It's not a total miracle solution, it takes several applications but it's safe and does eventually work.
might it have killed the weed trees if there had been some broken branches to give access to the living inside parts? i am gonna try this on a 40year old tree cut to the ground last year, trying to regrow. thanks for the idea!
I took a huge Chinese Elm down and the stump got ground down…BUT lots of growth around the original stump and even in the yard further away!!! Want to plant the area and it’s close to my house…don’t want to ruin the soil for planting! Please HELP with ideas.

Cool...Any idea on how to prevent a tree from growing taller instead..? I have two coconut trees that keep growing taller, I don't want to kill them, i just want to stop them from growing. I'm curious to know if watering them with a solution composed of water + 5% vinegar would do the trick
Smaller pot or root space should do but vinegar will just make the tree sick and slowly die. The trees will die anyway in a pot thats way too small tho
I had an oak tree removed because the roots started to grow towards the surface. I had the stump removed and now the roots that were left in the ground are sprouting new little trees . How can I kill those without d÷terring grass growth?
Many years ago, I cut down large pyracantha bushes, drilled holes, and filled with salt... regular table salt. The stumps rotted and I hammered them away.Yes, it took a couple of Summers but they've never grown back... So, vinegar will work!!!
It's not a tree, but I'd throw in the Chinese Privet. It's very, very similar to what he destroyed here, and it may be the same plant. It's classed as a large hedge or small tree, but here in the South (and according to Southern Living website, from Maryland to Florida to Texas) it's EVERYWHERE. If you're familiar with kudzu, then this is the woody version of that, and like kudzu, a Chinese import. It's super-fast growing, and if you kill it residual seeds on the ground grow two years later. Very hardy, and I've had success with Brush Top killer, but I hate the toxicity to humans. I'm going to try the vinegar on some grow-backs I've got. The root system grows like in the video here, in a huge radius around the stumps, and I'd bet that those later growths he showed were from the same roots.
Like your backyard expements. What solution would you suggest for keeping eucalyptus bark tree permanently moist/ prevent the bark from recoiling as it dries out?
Oh yeah. Drill the holes at an angle, and the main area of tree suction from the roots, is JUST UNDER the bark. The first 1/4 inch or so, of the actual WOOD of the tree. Holes should be facing a downward angle ; work WITH gravity, not against it. Epsom or rock salt, and a strong vinegar, DON'T USE WATER. Vinegar of 7 or more percent acetic acid, i use even 10 %. Cover those holes, to keep rain water, bugs, etc OUT. Tarp strap a large bag, over the holey area......for lack of better terms....
Maybe just cleaning up the yard and disposing of all that mess would help you have a better looking yard. Vinegar and waiting. Just get busy. Yeah. Use roundup as you said. ROUNDUP? Yep, we need more carcinogens in the environment. Great thinking!!!
Did you know Roundup becomes ineffective once it hits the soil. Yep, soil neutralizes it. I learned that from a Master Gardener who is a retired scientist from USDA. Very good, Suzanne ! Strong vinegar, epsom salts, and Dawn, to keep the previous two ingredients, to ' stick ' together. Also, usefull for ants.
Why dawn ????

Pour laundry bleach few time , it kills well in short time !!

I set fire to stumps, adding limbs, twigs, etc. Works great to stop regrowth and a fine way to help me drain beer cans as i watch stumps burn.

I like your experimental approach. I'm wondering if you saw any damage to the concrete of the foundation of your home from the use of the vinegar?
I wouldn't use high concentration on your driveway or any concrete setting

Stihl MS661 is your answer
Dish soap is a fine surfactant, cheap and everywhere.
Bubbling in the yard, also what about the other ingredients in the soap?
@@dfinite1111 they sell plant based liquid soaps
Maybe if the treatment was applied to the living layer, rather than than the stumps
Put caustic soda granules in the holes you drilled into the stump.
Vinegar and salt... it will work
هل الخل والملح يقتل شجرة
Instead of vinegar you could use hydrochloric acid (stronger). You can use dish soap as a surfactant
Where did you buy a hydrochloric acid?
Muriatic acid is a dilute hydrochloric acid sold everywhere

Okay, thanks
How to mix muriatic acid to dish soap to kill the trees is it directly to put in the trees?
Other options include Oxynonconten Anti Acid.

Seems like you have fertile soil that wants to be a forest. Does this grass have a use or are you protecting just useless lawn from trees?
Probably would have to be a yearly treatement each spring when the trees are absorbing more to grow
So what is he mixing with the vinegar?
Yucca
