J CUTS ARE MY FAVOURITE! Also, how many times did I say story in this video?
Hey you guys!!! 😘😊😚Yayyyy another video! Finally 💉💉💉 gonna watch now!
Love the video. You look super cute! Gonna make a latte now. 😄👌
Are you leaving the office light or going dark?
Anymore home remodeling coming soon?
It’s the little things make everything else better. 😉
just 13 times

+100 respect points for using the term 'techniques' instead of 'hacks'.
or tricks
or tipps
Thank you! Hacks is not only grossly overused but an ugly-sounding word as well. Sounds like a person trying to clear their throat.
She says "this trick" right at the beginning lol@GustavoMendozaCanales
Audio is the element that holds EVERYTHING together in the edit. Great video
J Cuts are the BEST! They also really, really help when cutting down long sequences of dialogue! Recently I had to do a corporate video of two people talking, and I basically had to turn a ten minute video into a three minute video. By using lots of J cuts it's so easy to make those cuts super seamless, making it look as if it was just one short conversation all along!
AronBagel absolutely!!!
impressive technique to use ............. Never stop teaching us new stuffs , we always need more .
lovin u Becki and Chris 3000 .
I like how you showed the timeline and how it looks on the timeline, because so many of us are visual learners and seeing how it would look helps because we can go back and look and if we see something way different in our panel, we know we messed up somewhere and also you two are just awesome.
Dmogul thanks! I’m also a visual learner so I need to see something to really make sense of it. Glad it was helpful!
I know that I'm showing my age but in my day we called that VO/SOT( voice-over/sound on tape). Now that we have nonlinear editing I see why you call it what you do. Great video Becki!
Super helpful! I’ve known what J and L cuts were but your explanation of when and why to use them makes things 1000x more effective. Thanks!
Extra points for using an espresso machine!!! In my opinion - the only way to make decent coffee. Well done!
This is the ideal TH-cam channel. I get editing advice and I get to see footage from a fellow helicopter pilot! You are both so energetic too.
Those winged eyeliners are on point! Love it!
super helpful!! something so simple can make such a difference.
J and L cuts are great stuff! Thanks for sharing.
You know those things that you've seen a gazillion times but never thought what its actually called?? This is it! So good! This one video just made me a subscriber. :)
it's 3:20 am. love the setup and thanks for the techniques.
OMG I was going to put up my travel video and I saw your video, I just re-edit it LOL
Going to try this! Thanks for opening my eyes!
I've seen this technique used so many times but its never been explained to me. Thank you for this video.
Your new setup is a aesthetic beast! Love it!
I like this, it literally glues the scenes together
My absolute favorite cuts. I use them in every video! They’re like the every day carry tool for video edits. ❤️👏❤️🙌❤️
Genki Hagata hell yeah they are!
I love the way you teach so cheerfully.. 😆
Brilliant, thank you for this! Editing tips that help with storytelling is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing, this was incredibly helpful!
When you look at it visually in the timeline, the name becomes more obvious. Such a great technique thank you!
Juan Manuel thanks!
Good tips! I’ve already used these in my videos, but this really reminded me of how useful these cuts can really be. Thanks!
I think I’ve used these techniques to a degree without knowing it (ie cutaway), but I loved learning more about the how’s and why’s so that I can practice better in the future
Great tip!! I’m totally going to try this!!!
just found your channel, going to use these now! woohoo! never heard of these before!
This is great. I'm glad I found this channel. Much to learn. We are trying to be story tellers on TH-cam. Your stuff looks fantastic.
your examples were beautiful, they work so well!
Ha you guys are always so entertaining to watch! I've been aware of these cuts for ages but never really saw the point in using them, now I get it! Gunna give it a a try.
Alex Absolute thanks much!
this video is a work of art
J cuts really help with longer B roll sequences. The latte looked delicious.
awesome tips with short period of time! great job
This was awesome! Thank you! 😊
Thankyou for this video! So simple yet it hadn't occured to me.
I’ve seen Peter McKinnon do this technique a bunch of times and I’ve always noticed and thought “is there a name for that?”
Thank you for teaching me the name Becki! Great video
Thank you Becky!!!! Learning so much!!
Your hair looks so cool!!
You're actually really good at explaining things. It just seemed to click. Thank you!
LOL... I do that all the time and didn't even know what I was doing. Great video!!!
I love learning this stuff, never heard of this but noticed it now I think of it
Hi guys, just wanted to say I love the freshness and content of what you both are doing, it's so refreshing to watch. Keep up the great work.
You are great making us watch more than we need to, 5/5
Great tips, Becki!I've used them, but now I know their name. J cut is my favorite.
I’m so glad I’m not the only goofy goober who does silly stuff while the camera is still rolling. I just can’t pull it off in my videos so they get cut. Not J or L cut, just cut.
😂 I just love your videos.
Michael Warth 🤣🤣🤣 i just leave it all in, I’m so bad at talking to the camera
Always excited to watch your videos. Amazing !
Thank you!

Seeing you drink iced coffee at 3 PM made me immediately think, yknow its ok if I make an iced coffee right now. SO GOOD. I like these kinds of technical videos, please make more film theory/technique videos 🤗
What a awesome video. Very helpful and I am going to try these in my next video! Thanks
Useful stuff... Thx guys! 😃🤗

I LOVE the bloopers at the end...it lets me know that you are also human. 🤸🏼♀️
Never noticed thanks for the tip can't wait to try!
Would you say J and L cuts are the same as a sound bridge?
I've used this! but I never knew they had a name, so thanks for expanding my video editing vocabulary!

@@BeckiandChris Yes.. family is a prioriy..:D Btw learned alot from your channel..:D i hope when u do shout outs..it will be an honor to be mention by you guys.. more power!!

I love how you break down these techniques so that they’re easy to understand. I’ve heard of them before but the process and when to use didn’t click with me until now. Love these tutorials!
Melinda Davison thanks so glad it was helpful!
Sub'd awhile back... still the best decision of 2019 with content like this. thanks Becki
Great Video! What cam and lens were used?
This was cool. I was already doing these now and then, without knowing what they were lol
Love it!!! Thanks 🤙🏽
Great video, how long did it take you to put this video together. Recording, editing.
PERFECT explanation of a really valuable technique. 👍
So well explained. Love the tips.
im so gonna use this technique. CHEERS BECKI!
Hey Becki, thanks for this! Question, can you tell me what track you’re using at the end of this video? Thanks 🙏🏼
Love it! Great to put names to those techniques you see people applying! Also helps me focus on how to use them. Give my regards to the plant!
great technique 👌🏻
Love this! I've been using them but never knew what they were called.
Needed this Becki!!
What filter you're using on top of all of your videos?
Wow, Thank you Becki... We have been struggling with telling stories as we new to editing and this is the first video to actually give a technique to telling a story and WOW WOW WOW :) Very VERY HELPFUL :) Thank you
Thanks, Becki for this.
Loving this video as always, and your hair looks amazing!!
Found this really helpful, thank so much!
Many Thanks becki....! Good stuff.....
My parents, grandparents, & many relatives are either from or still live in Big Stone Gap in Wise County near Wise, VA. If you ever go in the summer, check out the outdoor play "Trail of the Lonesome Pine".
I was using this but I didn't knew what its called!! Thanks!!
When I did media studies and we were discussing this technique in movies they were called "sound bridges", when sound overlaps from one scene into the next or vice versa.
that was really well explained!
3:30PM in the HIZOUSE! Just kidding. 4:58. J/L cuts are my jam!
And before I get into this I just want to say your hair is top tier and your vibe too. I don't even know if this is going to help me but in advance thank you! I make shitty fan edits, trying to get a bit better yk :)
Thanks for sharing those techniques! Love the the blooper clips 😂
I am coming from Lizze Pierces vids and you two had me at helicopter 😂😂😂
Thanks! Fantastic tips. Can't wait to implement in my vlogs 😘
Great Video! I am a novice and have been trying to figure out how this is done. In my head, I thought this was the way but wasn't sure. Thanks for the tips! New sub!
The subtle way of transition without even emphasising it majorly. It's so smooth, it usually goes unnoticed. Really, didn't know it had a name 😅 XD
Actually it’s exactly 3:30 pm while I’m watching this lol
