I bought a Gucci bag at C21 at the beginning of October 23. A small bag to take to chruch. Within a month the handle broke. The leather or pleather or whatever it is is now peeling. Wtf%$#@

(Not an IP) Lawyer weighing in, but I do fraud work and your report checks out. G would need to prove C21 knew that its claim the bags were authentic was false to be liable. C21 claims it relied on another expert (supplier) to authenticate. So in that way, C21 doesn’t have to prove the bag is authentic against G’s challenge. They just have to prove they didn’t know it was fake.

These brands need to drop their prices by a minimum of 50% for me to look at them again. 75-80% for me to shop.

Something you may not be aware of is that Walmart has a contract with Lord & Taylor to sell luxury goods through their website. This means that two major businesses in the Walmart family are impacted by the fake sales, as Sams Club is a Walmart company. This will get L&T kicked off the website as it damages the reputation of Walmart!

"In furtherance" doesn't have the same meaning as "furthermore". Furthermore means in addition; and; also. In furtherance means -in order to accomplish.

Didn't Sam's club also get a lawsuit several years ago regarding Tiffany and Company? My question is, haven't these fashion houses sold their original merchandise to these retailers in the first place?

This is crazy, even Lord & Taylor? WTH? This is madness because I can see how someone would not second guess a department store. Even Century 21, for that matter. Them being listed is a surprise to me because unlike Sam’s club their whole shtick is "affordable luxury" and they’ve been around forever.
    Who can be trusted? 🥴

@@catnip4587 Yes, I know they no longer operate brick-and-mortar locations. Still, that does not take away from how well-established they were amongst their competitors here in the United States. Color me foolish, but I would have never guessed they would be listed as a business selling fraudulent goods. No one is safe!

The problem I see in this case is that these retailers were still charging a high price for items they knew were fake and possibly claiming were authentic. So they were lying to people. Yea some people want fakes but I’m sure retailers like this isn’t where they are looking for them and not for those prices.

Wow! What a mess! 🤷‍♀️ Gucci make your prices reflect the quality you are selling (drop those prices). You’d be amazed how many consumers would return to your actual stores.
If you’re going to sell fakes just be honest and tell the consumer it’s a fake. I don’t care what anyone buys as long as they a properly informed of what they are buying. Just don’t scam people.🤷‍♀️

Salve Dacob. Love your channel and your Italian. I am going to voice what is probably an unpopular opinion, so I apologize in advance, but here goes: In my opinion, the original decision by Kering is what got them into this ugly mess in the first place. This decision (to have authorized dealers) was naive and misguided. Personally, I believe it also cheapened the brand (Lord and Taylor, Cent21, really? Are they intentionally trying to destroy the brand and its Italian legacy?). It is one of several decisions to date that I believe will cost Kering (which I am delighted about)- and also unfortunately for Gucci - dearly. It also illustrates to me yet another example of corporate greed, hubris and laziness - what I like to call a globalist mentality. Kering management, I imagine, saw the move as a profit-increasing maneuver (logically) but didn't take into account that consumers are not idiots. Things like QUALITY, CRAFTSMANSHIP, CACHE matter. They matter so much that even if they are not super mega wealthy, they will open their wallets, choose to be separated for their hard-earned money, for that "oggetto prelibato." Take the Hermes Birkin or Kelly as one tiny example: People of all income levels open their wallets with little or no questions asked, just to own one. For the consumer (but this one is for you, too, Kering Genius) - It DOES matter WHO designs a product, it DOES matter WHERE the item is produced, it does matter HOW it is produced. Stop trying to appease your stockholders and puppet masters - cater to your consumers, be loyal to your consumers first and last. Lavish your consumers with the best creative ideas and materials possible. That's how houses like Gucci were originally built and why their name is iconic. I just hope this is not the first death knell for Gucci. Greetings from Savannah, GA!

It’s the battle of the experts. Gucci will bring an Expert to testify and Sam’s club will hire an expert to testify as well. So whoever the jury believes wins.

At a certain point I can’t justify these prices when quality is crap. I love certain brands and will continue to buy Hermes, Loewe, Moynat. These brands like Chanel, Gucci and LV, no thanks! I’ve seen a top tier fake LV and dare I say, the quality was better than a real one. At this point I’d consider a fake. How sad.

  • @yes_that_dolly
    @yes_that_dolly 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Dacob I don’t understand your point about consumers preferring fakes? Even if that were true (it sounds odd?) that would only apply if they knew they were getting fake goods (but how likely is that if you buy from a chain retailer? Unlikely!) ***and*** if they were paying cheap “fake” prices which it doesn’t sound like they were. They were paying thousands of dollars for the fake bags as if they were real.
All over the internet you can find people complaining about the declining quality of “luxury” bags. Does it matter if your new $4000 Loewe bag is “real” or “fake” if it’s falling apart? You’ve mentioned declining quality before too on many brands.
Maybe if they don’t want to lose customers, their quality will go back to higher levels and their prices will be more in line with the quality of what you get. Then they wouldn’t have to worry about fakes.

What’s crazy is in 2008 Gucci used to sell all their off-season bags for 30-60% off. That’s how I got my entire Gucci luggage collection.
And it was known that these brands would sell their excess items at half off after season, then they started creating outlets and then they started destroying the product and now I’m sure they’re joining the super fake market like we all think they are, and again this is just alleged just my thoughts and opinions, but if they had just sold all the excess inventory at 50% off, they would still be making the money and not have excess inventory.
That’s when everybody was profitable I don’t understand why they have to get crazy like now, there will always be the person that wants the new bag when it’s new, but there’s people like me that will wait a year or 2 to buy it at 50% off but I’d rather buy it from them at 50% off then from the secondhand market.

It could just be their way of trying to create doubt in the minds of people, so that they will stop shopping at the stores and buy from Gucci directly.
