It was definitely touristy. We enjoyed seeing it to check it off our list, but it did seem like mostly new buildings. There were a few historical ones, but not as many as we were expecting. There were also a ton of small slot machine casinos. We later went to Tombstone and enjoyed that one a lot more (more historic buildings, lots of historic tours in town...just felt more authentic).

Something about the feel and smell of an old historic building is just great. To think of all the long gone folks who stood in the exact same spot

Seriously disappointed when we visited Deadwood.
It wasn’t quite what we expected, although I’m glad we had the chance to see it. We did enjoy Tombstone a lot more.
