I had an old tech teach me the best way to use a spring compressor was to use a jack on the control arm and compress the spring, then put the compressor on tight and then let the control arm drop again.
Dear Angel, the rookie pilot. 👍👌👏 Great to see you having fun. It's very important to be able to laugh/joke about ourselves. This shows that you are truly a funny/humourous person. 2) Congrats, icely done spring compressor. 👍👌👏 Hope we will see your spring compressing helper on this channel soon. 😁 ;-) 3) Please don't get me wrong but aren't there spring compressor tools available with clamps in shape of horse shoes? No need to have two of them because with this type of spring compressor you only need one per spring. I think that you are able to modify the ones that you already own (and don't like just as I don't like to use them). And what would fit better to work on a Mustang pony car than tools in shape of horse shoes!? 😁 ;-) Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all of you.
I couldnt help but to laugh at the situation, but it just gave me another chance to try the new spring compressor! I believe that horse shoe style would work with one side like you say! The horse shoe definitely would match the theme lol!
@@rookie__pilot Thanks for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment. I always and totally appreciate both very much. 2) Maybe I explained it wrong. There are two horse shoe shaped clamps on one of those spring compressor tools. Sincerely yours.
Nice job mate,l remember my bro got hit in the jaw with a spring and spent sometime in hospital. ln the day when cars didn't have thermo couplings on the fan some women used to get their hair and faces ripped off because their hair used to get caught🤥
WHAT ? I was told by 4 mechanics that the bushings on my Mazda were safe and they looked way worse than that , not to mention the hardware was so corroded you couldn’t get vice grips on them . Actually what happened was that they clocked me as trans because I am actually intersexed ( I am also Asexual) . I knew it was not safe for the road . Awesome job 👏🏼 Honestly you should patent the spring compressor
Fear of getting a mouthful of spring is the mother of invention in this case. Great job. Regards, Dave
Exactly!
Cool idea, awesome when you come up with something that works.
Great job! Your ingenuity made for a safer and easier way to do the job, well done!
Thank you very much!
I was yelling at my screen when you were compressing that spring. "wait....that's the old part" Keep up the great work.
Haha! Thanks!
I have always hated to use those types of spring compressors. Great job on the one you built. That's awesome.
Thanks bosshog 👍🏻
Very creative, Mr. Cake!
Man that’s a great way to make your own tools save money and time, don’t think you’ll be a rookie too much longer, great job
Lol thanks!

Well that did the trick, reminds me of the tool I used to have to borrow for old Renault's can't remember the model but similar set-up.
nice work angel foodcake!
Sweet! Hopefully the channel does well and you can get a set of large open end spanners.
Great attitude. Nice custom tool.
Thanks!
sweet background tunes as well!
Thanks!!
Awesome job on that! Get a crescent wrench!
I have 2 but both too small for that nut lol

I absolutely love watching your videos, even if it’s the second or third time 🙈❤
You're the best!❤️❤️
LMAO😅 Food Cake smiled pretty big as he said WE HAVE A HUGE ASS NUT🙌 while he was assembling... He was trying not to laugh 😆💯💞
LOL
God job!... your a problem solver!
Thanks!
Great laugh and attitude Angel. Pretty sure I'd have launched a barrage of anglo-saxons.
Very cool...
Still genius! 👍
I agree!
Slurps the spring is the best description! Your right!

Oh man, thats a huge fear of mine! I hate these springs, also the hair getting caught is scary!
You need to get a set of Knipix adjustable wrenches, they will work a lot better than the channel locks and won’t mar up your nuts.
Youre right! Once i made the tool i realized i dont own a wrench that big
Excellent idea!
Thank you! Cheers!
You should patent that spring compressor. I bet you could easily sell them to anyone working Mustang suspension.
Hadnt thought about it!
I could use one. I'm going to be doing front suspension work on mine
@@davehendel9365 definitely helps, I absolutely HATE using traditional compressors on these cars
Thumbs up on the safety goggles....but the reflective vest?????
LOL, it was for skit that hasnt been posted yet i forgot i had it on.

What a wild story! Always get a second opinion. Thanks!!
@@rookie__pilot
It was 4 mechanics who all worked in the same shop and I couldn’t afford to send it to a second shop
I'm terrified whenever I change strut springs. Compressors never look strong enough.
Did you say wife??? 16 is the AoC in Arizona??????????? ;-)
Lol, were both 23 and known eachother since we were 10
@@rookie__pilot baby faces!!!!!!!!!
Forgive me if I am making a stupid comment, all that excess shaft seems like it will be in the way.
Not a stupid question! It was actually about 1/2 away from the hood at full compression so for the next side i cut off about 6 inches from the tool!
