The Hmong dwell in the NW part of Thailand near the Myanmar Border. I live currently in Phuket in the southern region and in all the years I have lived here (over 10) there has never been a "5 spice" Thai tea offered at any Thai place or gathering I have ever been to. They also don't have cloves in their tea, down here in the South. So you are not getting exactly "Thai" tea but something more like a mix of Chinese 5-spices plus possibly a Burmese recipe for tea. In that area also has been trade routes so the influence of the Chinese, Burmese, and the Indo-Pacific region has impacted the cuisine of that very tiny ethnic minority, the Hmong--Thais do not consider them exactly Thai and they are discriminated against as well by some in Thailand.
