Scott, as a Wisconsin girl, only *fresh* cheese curds are supposed to be squeaky - that’s how you know they’re fresh! Deep fried ones just have to taste good haha
Scott, I realized during this video that one of the reasons I love your work so much is that it reminds me of the best of PBS programming. It's so genuine, a little quirky, and feels like we get to join you on an adventure like we're a friend (not parasocially!). Thank you being you, you are so awesome. Be well!
I watched the whole 2 hour long video about going to different states in video games. Real shame youtube decided to bone you. What the hell was a Nevada boy like you doing out here anyway? and what was your favorite thing at the fair?
Thanks for paying for all my food…I mean having me on!!! As someone who doesn’t really “love” the fair, I had a blast! 5/5 Uffdas. Would stuff my face with you again. WE ARE RANCH ❤❤❤
If you guys ever feel like making a 'quick' trip over to PA, come to our Renaissance faire! You would love it, and you could give the Scotch egg a second chance (THEY'RE MOIST). This faire is unfortunately BYOR(anch), but I think the food is slightly cheaper overall than what you mentioned for your state fair!
You are not alone! I love the process of eating cotton candy, how it melts in your mouth. Or you can squish it down into a cube and bite it, the texture is unlike anything else (pleasant:)) I also love green olives and funnel cake, as a way marker for how I'm not matching their preferences :p
I am dying at the immediate wide eyed wonder on your brother's face when he bit into that bacon like a child coming down the stairs on Christmas morning 😭
For all the Strugglrs out there: Pronto Pups and Corn Dogs are different, and they sell both at the fair. The Pronto Pup batter uses less sugar to make it taste more savory. And from what I know, you can mostly only get Pronto Pups at the State Fair! It's my favorite treat to get.
I will never not click on a Scott Cramer video. You're just one of those dudes that you feel chill watching. Bro is just hanging out eating food in the Midwest. Who doesn't need those vibes in their life?
As a fellow extreme corn enthusiast it made me think of Scott has ever tried a Mexican street corn or “elote” grilled corn lathered with butter mayo lime juice Mexican cheese and spices. Immaculate.
IDK what it is about Greg but when you bust out cinamatic mode of him eating those cookies all of a sudden he was the star of a hallmark romance movie??
For MN State Fair, I suggest adding 3 categories: Scandinavian, immigrant/refugee food, & bizarre food. (Bonus category: wild rice dishes if not broke.) Real examples: Swedish lingonberry ice cream, Somali sambusas (a dumpling pocket w spicy beef inside), & alligator sausage on a stick (props for trying it) + (bonus category) bison meatballs on wild rice (even had an option of fried crickets on top to add a bizarre criteria).
Thank you for reviewing our product, the freshly cooked-to-order funnel cake! A bit of background, my father built that trailer by hand. He has built and worked on many trailers of other vendors as well. My mother designed the art. The funnel cakes and elephant ears recipes are my grandmother's, tweaked and perfected over many years. I take a break from my regular job as an ER pharmacist (and so does my sister as an ER nurse) to help in MN every year. We have always served our food to order and regularly toss or give away product that we don't see fit to serve (i.e. too small or a bit too overcooked, etc.). I can assure anyone who visits us is receiving the freshest, most cared for, high quality product, backed by years and years of dedication and experience. It is such a joy serving everyone who visits and watching people enjoy what we've worked so hard to perfect. Thank you, again, for visiting the fair and for purchasing our product. If you try again, I recommend adding some homemade cream cheese glaze and/or strawberry! Cheers.
I'm shocked they didn't ever have a funnel cake before. I think Scott's taste buds are broken anyway, he said turkey leg tastes like ham. Sounds like a great family business you have!
Greg’s face when he tried the cookies at the end told an entire story. I’m not much of a cookie guy, so I don’t think I’d get that excited, but I have to say that I’m intrigued. I just know I’d waste so much money trying all the weirdest stuff.
My favorite Scott videos are these kinda field trip ones where you take us through an experience like this. Especially when there's food and you talk about the food
My favorite thing that I ate at the State Fair this year was the bao served at the Hmong Union kitchen stand. I asked my friend if they wanted to split it with me and they said they weren't hungry enough to have half of it but they'd have a bite. It was so good that they had to get a bao of their own. Also, I went on the Friday before Labor Day and it was absolutely beautiful, the two hours it took us to get from the western suburbs to the Fairgrounds was worth it.
This is one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time. Scott's Brother: I don't know if I've ever raw dogged cheese curds before. Scott: It's actually pretty dang good. Scott's Brother: It is. *A. VERY. LONG. PAUSE.* Scott: Also, what did you say?
Technically he is 200 miles away from his home. Fargo to the Twin Cities isn’t a huge difference in culture or dialect, but there is definitely a difference! Still a very fun video about upper Midwest shenanigans.
As a Funnel Cake connoisseur, the first mistake was getting a plain one. You absolutely have to get it with fruits (strawberries to be exact), powdered sugar, whipped cream & ice cream (optional; but a must try at least once). & it has to be fresh! What’s a State Fair without a good Funnel Cake?!
14:42 For what it’s worth, I think they gave you the wrong order. In TX/LA, fried alligator is literally deep fried pieces of alligator, like popcorn chicken looking things. Sorry your order wasn’t very good. Those fried pickles look amazing tho! 😊
100% agree with this. I stop at that stand every year and he got the wrong order. Exactly like you mention, it's like popcorn chicken and it is amazing. Scott should really go back next year to get more food and get the real alligator experience
Yeah, my step brother and I got fried alligator bites to share when we went to New Orleans. It also wasn't fried XD, though I guess you could make a sausage out of alligator if you wanted to
Reason the funnel cake might of had a "chemically taste" was if they used silicon while baking it, sometimes the mould or nozzles used for them can give it a weird after taste if the equipment is new and hasn't been cleaned properly
brother. Cotton candy grapes break my mind every time in the best way possible. That fruit makes no fucking sense and it's genuinely the funniest thing i've ever eaten. love em
Oh Scott, if you want cheese curds you don’t go to a random stand. Go to the mouth trap in the food building. Best curds at the fair hands down. And they give you ranch.
That lead up "the most iconic thing..." I literally said out loud the cookies. No doubt the cookies. I live in MN and haven't been to the state fair in years but those cookies live in my taste bud memory forever
I gotta say I appreciate the different palates everybody has. The fact that some of you loved some items that the others hated really adds some variety. A lot of channels will do these taste tests with a yes man where everybody needs to agree on a single number. NAH form your own opinions! I love that

Ive actually had alligator before; when I was younger and my family visited my grandparents in Florida my gramps would take us to this restaurant that you could get to by car or boat. They sold “gator bites”, so you picturing it to come in bite-sized type pieces was pretty accurate. The first few years that I went and had some it did taste like chicken and it was pretty good, which is why I continued ordering them each year. But as the years went on it started getting fishier and more rubbery. I guess it really just depends on how it’s made and I guess the actual quality of the alligator itself; that is at least what we thought happened. The alligator sausage does look and sound really weird though, I’m sure some of the other products they had tasted better
Yeah, breaded and fried bites like popcorn chicken. Also, I like you remember alligator being not very fishy at all and now it tastes very fishy to me.
I feel like you stole this memory straight out of my brain. I too visited my grandparents in Florida as a child and ate gator bites. I too thought it tasted like chicken. I also call my grandpa gramps. I’m scared.
Scott has the best ad spots of literally any youtuber. Usually I automatically skip past them as soon as I notice it's an ad spot. But Scott makes his so enjoyable i actually watch.
Your content always gives me wholesome I love people and the world vibes. Just you and your loved ones enjoying life and god it makes me happy every time
@@maxbracegirdle9990I’m not from the USA either, it looks like a long misshapen American donut/doughnut. The tiny ones that are overpriced and everyone seems to like despite being overly sweet. A lot of places have fairs, theme parks, etc, they’re usually available there. Again, never had it. Visibly it looks like that, if they’re so popular I’m curious to know what they’re actually like.
@@PansyPops Yep, you have the gist of it. A donut is a pretty good comparison but funnel cake has a different texture and consistency. I find it thicker and more dense than a raised donut but fluffier and not as crumbly as a cake or old-fashioned donut. Maybe a little closer to a Belgian waffle.
You should've had the cheese curds located inside the diary building (where the Dairy Bar is), those were absolutely fantastic. Idk if they still have them there though because it's been 10 years since I've been there. Bringing me some nostalgia towards the end with Sweet Martha's 😅
I grew up at this and the Valley Fair. My mom was born & raised in MN and the whole state has my heart. I wish I lived there. Many adventurers and many many good memories, mostly in the woods building the fort of that summer. I found your channel just after having my first child and stayed around. About a year and a half now. Always makes me reflect when you upload on where my life is currently. He was a few months old when I found you on recommended and a tired mom was very interested in your video on pillows and getting some more comfortable sleep. You’re now responsible for my entire bed set excluding the frame. My mother passed the day our son came home. Most of our MN family has grandkids they’re chasing in other states or have too passed. I can’t see myself having another organic opportunity to visit this glorious state fair and get deep fried twinkies. and gawk and the spaghetti on a stick. I got to remember a lot of good times watching this. And it makes me think I’ll have to take both my kids to Minnesota regardless of not having people there to visit anymore. Thanks Scott for this unexpected trip down memory lane after a long day running after little kids. Hope my mom is up “Home” enjoying a funnel cake with extra whipped cream and of course her favorite, deep fried cheese curds 🫶🏼
If you ever do, here’s your friendly midwestern warning to go to a nearby city and take the bus there. You WILL be stuck in the parking lot for 6 hours plus if you take any car or taxi. ❤
My favorite things at the MN state fair are the corn fritters with honey butter and the beef burrito from El Sol Mexican Foods (it is only sold at the fair and is honestly such a solid, filling fair food)! Also, pro tip for my fellow Minnesotans, you can buy Sweet Martha's cookies frozen at Lunds & Byerly's if you live in the metro and sometimes at Target (which means you can eat them year round)!
As a minnesotan I gotta scooch on in. For root beer you have to go for the 1919 root beer, it comes from a brewery in Minnesota. The sweet corn icecream from blue moon is incredible. Hummus from babas is some of the best I've had. And highlight for me this year was the new paella vendor, hoping they stick around!
Took inspiration from this video and me and my bf went to our district fair and got about 5-7 items we’ve never tried before from different food trucks and spent a few hours just walking around, eating a snack, finding a different thing to try. It was such a great, relaxing (and filling) day-date! Even got roasted corn for the first time and it was FANTASTIC!👍
I have never been more excited to see a video pop up on my feed. I literally yelled to my wife "Yo my favorite North Dakotan just posted a video about our favorite state fair". That said, you should do Iowa next year. Fair is smaller and not as fun in my opinion, but the food is way better.
you’re so right about the direction of comedians. for whatever reason crowd work does really well in tiktok/shorts/reel form. there’s some comedians who use it to show off their improving but takes so much practice and wit to be funny
I cannot believe Scott has played the most hours of fair games of any non-fair employee person alive, but he's never had a funnel cake before and didn't even know what they looked like 😭 Edit, just got to the part where he said no one likes eating cotton candy... nooo I love eating cotton candy!! Honestly the mouth feel of it is better to me than the taste. I'd rather eat completely unflavored cotton candy than a lot of other fair foods tbh
Thank you for this Scott. This was the first year in maybe my whole life I didn’t go to the state fair. So genuinely, thank you for letting me live vicariously through you.
Really loving these videos from Scott, it's weird to say but as someone who lives the furthest away from the States across the globe, these videos are a really comforting peek into real culture and food. I feel like the States can get a bad rep and unfairly stereotyped sometimes but these vids are like the antithesis of that; just wholesome vibes and good times. Then again, maybe Scott's just doing a really good job at showcasing all the parts of his local areas that he loves, and the enthusiasm is infectious!
I know you specifically called out the endless milk bar. But that thing was made to go with those cookies. Shame it's gotten so expensive though. I remember going to the fair with my family, getting a bucket of cookies and just walking around drinking milk and eating cookies, having a competition to see who could get the most milk refills... good times.
The audible sigh of relief I emitted when you guys finally visited Sweet Martha’s at the end. PS Hot tip for my fellow Minnesotans, Sweet Martha’s sells frozen cookie dough at certain Cub Foods stores, so you can make your own at home. Not sure how long they’ve been doing that but I just discovered it this summer and it’s been such a game changer
Im a native Minnesotan, now living in Kansas, and it breaks my heart that I couldnt go this year. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you!
I a Minnesotan, SPECIFICALLY a Minnesotan who performed with her band at the fair this year ON THIS DAY!! Am so so so excited to watch this. Shame I missed you, I was walking around all day!
I was so hoping you would do a MN state fair video, and I'm so happy you did one, Scott!! For some reason, I felt like you were gonna do one! I was thinking of your previous video about smell town fairs when I was at the MN State fair on Labor Day!😊
Just started watching this and I love it. I love food and I always get jealous seeing clips of the food from the Minnesota State Fair so this is a great watch!
Next time get the alligator bites and the sated alligator with the fries. Much better. Don't miss out on a deep fried candy bar (3 Musketeers is the best), deep fried Oreos or deep fried Reese's peanut butter cups. I tried the Mini Doughnut Beer once, but I swear they gave me beer with sugar on the rim.
That SMILE during the cookies! The look of absolute BLISS on that face! Also, as a fellow NoDak/Minnesota fella, you should try out Draft's Sports Bar in Crookston, or the burgers at JL Beers in Grand Forks.
The best thing about the Pronto Pup is that they paint on the mustard and ketchup for you so you get some in every bite and it doesn't drip on your shoes.

I feel like you stole this memory straight out of my brain. I too visited my grandparents in Florida as a child and ate gator bites. I too thought it tasted like chicken. I also call my grandpa gramps. I’m scared.
The fact that they serve a whole dang bucket of cookies for TWENTY BUCKS is such a steal. If I was a cookie lover I would loose my mind
I love that we have the best state fair in the country. Extremely common Minnesota W.
Scott has the best ad spots of literally any youtuber. Usually I automatically skip past them as soon as I notice it's an ad spot. But Scott makes his so enjoyable i actually watch.
The MN State Fair is like my Coachella. I look forward to it EVERY year!
Your content always gives me wholesome I love people and the world vibes. Just you and your loved ones enjoying life and god it makes me happy every time
Funnel Cakes are an absolute S Tier Fair food! Deep fried dough with powdered sugar? There's literally no way for it to be bad!
Maybe it was overly dry... I agree, Funnel Cakes are S Tier.
Not from the US, is it just like batter poured into a deep fryer through a funnel??
@@maxbracegirdle9990I’m not from the USA either, it looks like a long misshapen American donut/doughnut. The tiny ones that are overpriced and everyone seems to like despite being overly sweet. A lot of places have fairs, theme parks, etc, they’re usually available there.
Again, never had it. Visibly it looks like that, if they’re so popular I’m curious to know what they’re actually like.
@@maxbracegirdle9990 yep pretty much.
I normally skip all ads but I gotta respect your segue into the ad break. Bravo
As a root beer man myself, I think Culver's makes the best floats
Scott, you need to try a funnel cake with strawberries, it makes it much better
I had apple pie funnel cake last year and it was incredible! Definitely wanna try strawberry next
fruits are a game changer for funnel cake fr!!
3:22 Scott got serious, had a game plan AND categories? I mean of course he did. It’s Scott. 😂
Thank you for posting! You are one of my comfort youtubers. Needed your positive energy today, it’s been a difficult week.
As a Minnesotan, who also went to the state fair this year can confirm Bacon and corn are the best things ever
Those are my first 2 stops, every year. Then on to the new stuff after knocking those out.
We’ve been blessed with an almost 40 minute video of Scott trying weird ass fair foods? Hell yeah!!
Being in my early 60’s, and having to watch what I eat, I’m enjoying all this food vicariously though you three
This channel is slowly becoming one of my favorites
I can't believe there's a fair out there where you can just get a bucket of cookies. Now I want to go.
And they also sell that cookie dough in local grocery stores year round.
as a european i love watching scott's videos to observe and study american culture
Fun MN fair fact: They make 3 million Sweet Martha’s Cookies a day! And a bucket of cookies contains approx 4,300 calories.
They look amazing..
@@delveaking1188 can confirm…they are!
Your videos about fairs and all those local attractions and events are so comforting ans cozy, they're my favourite anti-anxiety watch
I’m a Canadian, and this video made me think “I GOTTA go to the Minnesota State Fair” more than once
If you ever do, here’s your friendly midwestern warning to go to a nearby city and take the bus there. You WILL be stuck in the parking lot for 6 hours plus if you take any car or taxi. ❤
Cheese curds and ranch? What.. that’s fucking gross 😂 Canadians would never.
@@jaredS_Ehbooo let em have their fun lol. we eat cheese curds w gravy and for what?? 😂😂
@@jaredS_Eh I was SOOOO confused why no one was talking about gravy….
we'd be happy to have ya!
When I need to restore my faith in humanity or just need a smile and laughs- I always watch Scott's content! :) ❤️
Scott, I moved away from MN a while ago and the thing I missed most is the state fair. Thank you for uploading some nostalgia
HELL YEAH MINNESOTA STATE FAIR THE BEST PLACE IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD
I’m glad you said what you said about bacon. I married into bacon and will always support my wife, but that’s the place I’m on too.
I have never been more excited to see a video pop up on my feed. I literally yelled to my wife "Yo my favorite North Dakotan just posted a video about our favorite state fair".
That said, you should do Iowa next year. Fair is smaller and not as fun in my opinion, but the food is way better.
He needs to try the fried butter, tot-chos and those spiral cut potatoes lol
you’re so right about the direction of comedians. for whatever reason crowd work does really well in tiktok/shorts/reel form. there’s some comedians who use it to show off their improving but takes so much practice and wit to be funny
I cannot believe Scott has played the most hours of fair games of any non-fair employee person alive, but he's never had a funnel cake before and didn't even know what they looked like 😭
Edit, just got to the part where he said no one likes eating cotton candy... nooo I love eating cotton candy!! Honestly the mouth feel of it is better to me than the taste. I'd rather eat completely unflavored cotton candy than a lot of other fair foods tbh
Love to see you visiting your friendly Midwest neighbor! Its so fun to see you out in the wild doing this kind of thing!
I’m getting scared of how good you’re getting at ad transitions
Great video! I myself just went to the Washington State Fair which was pretty good.
“Rawdog” being the word of the week is the biggest mindfck when I’m watching channels which are usually “wholesome”
Im a native Minnesotan, now living in Kansas, and it breaks my heart that I couldnt go this year. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you!
I love the Scott and Greg brotherly bond
I a Minnesotan, SPECIFICALLY a Minnesotan who performed with her band at the fair this year ON THIS DAY!! Am so so so excited to watch this. Shame I missed you, I was walking around all day!
I was so hoping you would do a MN state fair video, and I'm so happy you did one, Scott!! For some reason, I felt like you were gonna do one! I was thinking of your previous video about smell town fairs when I was at the MN State fair on Labor Day!😊
I love these cozy, sweet videos and now I want to go to this with my bff who lives in North Dakota.
Sorry Scott but cotton candy is amazing. The way it literally melts in your mouth is fantastic.
0:56 Alexandria mentioned !! 😮
I love this type of content. I find America a fascinating country. Hope to get to go the fair one day. Keep being such a great bloke Scott
The best thing about the Pronto Pup is that they paint on the mustard and ketchup for you so you get some in every bite and it doesn't drip on your shoes.
My diabetes is screaming, never stop making these videos they're my favorite :D
