So fun fact, "Call me Little Sunshine" is a reference to Aleistair Crowley, who once told a judge to call him little sunshine after he explained that Beast 666 meant sunlight.
As we've said before, they are taking organized power structures to task via subversive music/lyrics/iconography. So, to assign a belief system to the subversiveness is to misundertand the point. So, to borrow your condescending statement, "You can think that, but... I mean... come on... do your thing."
This song is honestly a masterpiece of studio production. If you haven’t listened to this song through a decent pair of headphones, you haven’t listened to this song. It’s next level when it’s being piped directly into your brain.
Ghost is a theatrical band. Papa and the ghouls are all part of a story and it's all fiction. (BASIC LORE) The clergy, an organization of satanists created sometime before the 1960s, wanted to spread the word of Satan through a band and music. The lead of the church (organization) must sing lead in the band, that's why there's been multiple papas. You can look up the chapters of the story on ghost's TH-cam, or look up a "basic ghost lore" video on TH-cam and theres one by "fx Lauren" which I found helpful, and one by "just another sad zoomer" which was also helpful. After finding the basic story, you can look up and dive into theories, potholes, twists, how the meaning of the music ties into the story, and much more. There's so much to ghost than what meets the eye and it's so interesting. Take some time out of your day to fall into a ghost rabbit hole, it is really awesome.
I genuinely think that cirice is a masterpiece of a song, it was the one that introduced me to the band and instantly made me fall in love with them, I would love seeing a react vid to that song
I love your Ghost reactions really. As mentioned (tons and tons of times) before, can we have a Ghost - Kaisarion reaction? It has some awesome vibes to it as well!
If you wanna hear something Ghost had never done before, listen to Twenties from Impera, took me a couple listens to get my ears used to it, not one of my favourites but it's still good on Ghost terms
I think this man has had enough of a taste of Ghost to where he's ready to take on their song He Is. Time for him to mix it up and see what else they can do, haha
If you want to know a little bit more about Ghost and especially Tobias watch the new interview with him on Loudwire. They just named Ghost Artist of the Year. Revolver Magazine had Impera as best album of 2022. So did Metal Hammer. And Ghost won the AMA for best album just a couple of weeks ago. Call me little sunshine is Grammy nominated for best metal performance. Do watcher in the sky or Respite On The Spitalfields next.
Little Sunshine can be interpreted as a reference to the morning star, one of the devil's names. The second possibility is a reference to Aleistair Crowley, who asked to be called Little Sunshine However, given Ghost's lyrics I think option one is closer to the truth.
I wouldnt read too much into the lyrics.....Ghost is poking fun of the hypocracy in organized religion.....all of this is true. Tobias is a damned good guy, just watch some interviews with him....hes a very positive and smart guy. They are shining a light on what religion has done to us as humans and the atrocities its given to the world. I would guess that Tobias isnt an atheist...i think hes agnostic. He has a great spirit. Its not meant to be feared.
i feel like ghost very much plays in the space of "believing in heaven means you also believe in hell". to me, this song feels like the mirror statement of "God is always there when you need him"-- the same could be true for the devil as that's the basis of temptation and free will. they seem to show that Christianity's "evil opposite" isn't really all that different in many ways your reactions have been very entertaining to watch! some of my faves that I recommend are monstrance clock, deus in absentia, and ghuleh/zombie queen :)
Great reaction matey :) Seeing as they mentioned Hunter in this song you have to listen to Hunter's Moon which was used in the end credits of the latest Halloween movie, you won't regret it :)
As far as whether they believe in the iconography they use in the videos and lyrics, it's no different than someone who belongs to The Satanic Temple. They call themselves Satanists, but they don't believe in a literal Satan - they uphold ideals that the Christian Satan represents. Glad you liked the song, and as others have recommended, Kaisarion and Hunter's Moon are a couple I think you'll like.
I’m a new fan of Ghost within the last two months, after hearing this song, the first song from Ghost that I heard. At the onset, I held some reservations about the imagery and lyrics. I don’t believe in religion, but everything about Ghost had me holding back… Until I read up on them and watched a few interviews with Tobias Forge, and learned that he is an atheist. That said, to say that “Ghost” is a Satanic band would require Tobias to hold some belief in God, Jesus, Heaven and Hell. You can’t believe one side without belief in the other. After doing some light research in this regard, I determined that Tobias, aka Ghost, is a masterful artist and songwriter, and fell into a dark genre of music after penning and recording his first three songs (with members of former bands he was in) and realizing that “Tobias Forge” cannot be the “face” of the band, so he crafted the entirety of the “history” of Ghost. If you watch enough “story of Ghost” videos, you’ll easily see that the entirety of Ghost is quite tongue in cheek. And for that, I am all in! To date, my favorite song is “HE IS”. And it’s already 8 years old. Wish I’d heard of them sooner. Going to my first “Ritual” in August, and taking my son with me. Can’t wait.
I reckon Ritual is about as dark as Year Zero if that's what you're looking for. Also Bible, He Is -- you'd think he was singing about God but no, Crucified, Monstrance Clock and Body and Blood
Tobias Forge is actually a Satanist~ so am I, Satanist might be more common than you think! (Satanist are nothing like the stereotypes, most don't actually believe in Satan!)
Every time you've called a Queen Ref in previous Ghost videos i'm like "wait until he hears Call Me Little Sunshine..." the second half of the song is We Will Rock You
I can't say what Tobias Forge's religious beliefs are, but I can tell you that Ghost is not meant to "make fun of" Christianity. It's to critique it. To earnestly call out organized religion on it's worst tendencies. So in that way he definitely "believes" in the message of this song... what that message is can be debated. I personally think that because it name checks Mephistopheles that the song is about the moment in the story of Faust when he makes a deal with the Devil... A Faustian Bargain. That moment when he trades his soul for power and knowledge. So this song is basically that moment told from Mephistopheles perspective. The "you" is the person summoning him to make the deal. And since it feels so seductive I'm pretty sure "you" is also meant to be the listener. Meaning that in this story we have called Mephistopheles to us, and this is him sort of wrapping us around his finger.
Someone interpreted the girl as overdosing on opium....tracks...as tracks on arms...she's dying...then crosses the river Styx on a barge...walking into the world of the dead...
This vid is not one of my faves but the song is! Slow and sexy! The man is amazing with a voice to die for mixed with his backing vocalists especially live, its pure magic. Do Hunters Moon. He wrote it for Halloween Kills. 🎃 Hell any song will be good and I'll watch all you're reactions 😂 You really seem to be enjoying Ghost 👻 🎵🎵🎸🎸🔥🔥💖😈😈
I think there is real sentiment in the music. A lot of their work is about poking fun at Christianity- but it goes deeper than dismissive side cracks- it's about real longing for love and devotion- and also about the short comings of Christianity and specifically it's followers attempts through history to control who we are. They talk in their concerts about the fact that the female orgasm has been at times viewed as demonic. Creative artists and rock and rollers have been declared as demonic. There are as aspects of humanity that have been shamed and punished by institutional religion- when in fact they should be lauded and embraced. Defiance, individualism and skepticism can all be forces for good. Ghost kind of addresses that on both fronts, criticizing the Church, but affirming value for what has been persecuted or maligned.
Ghost doesn't necessarily have to hold Satanic or any other belief; as there are a number of priests who no longer believe, but don't come out as a non-believer due to fearing rejection from family members and friends.
I have two suggestions, both from the same live performance during the Papa III era: Monstrance Clock and Body And Blood, both from the Hellfest 2016 festival.
Its about someone who lies and put you in a bad way, in this song is mephistopheles. In real life can be anyone, thats why demon change face many times in the video. MY interpretation of this only
they are def a satanist band but not christian satanism. Tobias went on an interview and said he believes in satan. here is my reference: th-cam.com/video/JORuEq5ejSA/w-d-xo.html
Try and remember when you try to put the works in context, it's not "these guys." The driving creative force is one dude. There's definitely input from those he works with but the idea, the theatricality, the themes, that's all Tobias Forge. And his beliefs are fairly well documented. I do see what you're saying but no, you hit off the mark on that one. He's no fan of organized religion at all, regardless of the focus, and the whole shtick is a multi layered critique of those types of power dynamics. There's a kernal of truth to the "they have to have some belief" but it's the Laveyan Satanism (who don't even really believe in Satan, let alone worship) notion of no gods and free will.
So fun fact, "Call me Little Sunshine" is a reference to Aleistair Crowley, who once told a judge to call him little sunshine after he explained that Beast 666 meant sunlight.
Also a reference to the second brightest object in the sky: Venus, morning star, Lucifer
As we've said before, they are taking organized power structures to task via subversive music/lyrics/iconography. So, to assign a belief system to the subversiveness is to misundertand the point. So, to borrow your condescending statement, "You can think that, but... I mean... come on... do your thing."
This was my first fave off of Impera. It's so seductive! I can't ever get enough of it. 🖤
@@MetalJosh_ haha yess, Ty! That's cool 🤘🌞
There is so much emotion in Ghost. Magnificent🤘🤘
People rarely mention the organ keeping the song together. Love this song! Thanks for the vid!
This song is honestly a masterpiece of studio production. If you haven’t listened to this song through a decent pair of headphones, you haven’t listened to this song. It’s next level when it’s being piped directly into your brain.
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"
My take on this is that we all have our demons - and they are always with us ... Awesome song!!!! :-D

This is my favorite song 🤘

@@MetalJosh_ OH damn! Thanks!
It's tongue in cheek.

..or just Venus (the planet) Cuz it's evil and ♀...Tee-hee
"Light up in the middle of the day, for how else could you see me" (the Demon)? Tells you basically what the song is all about
I’m gonna need a reaction to Kaisarion and/or my favorite song Respite on the Spitalfields
I wouldnt read too much into the lyrics.....Ghost is poking fun of the hypocracy in organized religion.....all of this is true. You are right. The music is exactly what "you" think it is.... its not a joke... it is powerful... dont waste your Sundays on your knees.
*GRIFTWOOD NEXT* ♥
This song live is even better 😉
The lady looks like Rebecca Ferguson and the song has some Type O Negative vibes.
The Singer is a completely ordinary father of 2 children.

Mummy Dust has a harder sound than most Ghost songs. I think you would enjoy it.
I have two suggestions, both from the same live performance during the Papa III era: Monstrance Clock and Body And Blood, both from the Hellfest 2016 festival.
You should do Elizabeth next :)
All im saying is that you need to listen to faith by ghost...you didnt hear that from me though
I think you really, really should watch and tape a reaction to "Year Zero" - dark, and an entirely different style of Ghost than this!
Like number 666 reporting for duty
Its about someone who lies and put you in a bad way, in this song is mephistopheles. In real life can be anyone, thats why demon change face many times in the video. MY interpretation of this only
