Isn't so much a bad thing having the bmw engine be pretty simular to the 2jz. Just a big shame it's not available in manual. Looks of it I quite like. No doubt the performance side with match up to mk4.
If the only gearbox option is the 8 speed zf and not the dct then then that is actually disappointing. But considering the zf has been around since the n55 there’s a good chance the bell housing could be thesame as the 6 speed manual used for the n55. Which means... 🤷🏻♂️
There’s so much to consider. B58 is a brilliant engine, and it is tuneable, if in 15 years the car costs £20k and you chuck another £20k at it, what are you going to get...? Considerations for emissions and regulations enforced on engines these days, so any limitations and things to follow that developing a new engine, hitting those targets and keeping the price down is next to impossible. The MkIV, not everyone that bought the it instantly aimed for 700.
If you spent the same amount on the new supra as you would to get a mkIV up to 1000bhp, back when it was released, you would end up with the mkV up there. Its a new engine. From the people who gave us the m3s. The m5s etc. Some of these are pushing crazy numbers too. The supra is an awesome car. But when they came out. No one was even thinking, can we push 1000bhp? Yes they could've developed a new car with a 600bhp+ set up but then put a 100k price tag on it. For one I'm glad because maybe one day I'll be able to afford one 😂
Personally I think the new Supra isn't good looking mainly due to the shorter proportions. Plus, only being a 2 seater could cut out a lot of potential buyers.
