    Echoes, From this concert. Which was the last time it was performed with Pink Floyd band mate, Richard Wright is an absolute masterpiece. & well worth your time. The chemistry between the two in the end part of the song is emotional & brilliant. David Gilmour has since retired playing the song. As he said he can’t perform it without Richard Wright (RIP)

    David Gilmour's black strat, the guitar you see here, sold at Christie's auction house in New York for $3,975,000.00 in 2019. It was the highest price ever paid for a guitar to date. All proceeds went to charitable causes. He put up most of his guitar collection that year raising over 21 million dollars... all of which went to charity.

    This was probably one of David's greatest solos ever. What he was able to pull out of the black strat this night was absolutely unreal. The black strat is literally "crying". EVERYTHING he did on this solo is perfection. Every little detail of it, from his note choice, the bends, the vibratos, the way he holds the note through the chord change, and the way he gradually increases volume as the solo progress, and change to the bridge pickup near the end, at full blast.

    No one plays guitar with the emotion that Dave Gilmour does, you feel it in your soul, with every bend, hammer on, and pull off, and most especially as his solos rise majestically, only to descend and rise again, with even more impact!
    His solo compositions in virtually every song are off the charts, whether it be Pink Floyd or his solo career!
    I've been playing guitar all my life, I started in 1966 at 10 years old,.. and David Gilmour has been one of my biggest influences.

    I’m a 49 year old man, in the most superficial place on the planet (California). I cry almost every time I hear David’s guitar. I did when I first heard it when I was 12. I am crying now. Even when David smiles, it hits me.i know I will never meet you two, but I would love in an alternate universe to share some wine and dinner with you. But short of that, cheers to you and your amazing spirits.

    I totally understand what you mean Andrei, Dave Gilmour just stands there looking so ordinary in his jeans and t shirt with a guitar slung over his shoulder, and then when the music starts, something magical happens, and he does what only Dave Gilmour can do. It's almost like he's plugged into the universe and he's there for everyone to enjoy.✌

    Live at the Gdansk Shipyard, celebrating the 26th anniversary of the solidarity movement, accompanied by the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra, the greatest guitar player on earth, playing the most valuable Stratocaster on earth, doesn't get more beautiful than that.

  • @lubos1207
    @lubos1207 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Along with Jimmy Hendrix's guitar, Gilmour's "Black Strat" is truly one of the most famous guitars. Gilmour bought it in 1970 in New York to replace a virtually new guitar that had been stolen. He recorded all of Pink Floyd's seminal albums on it (The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979). Compared to regular Stratocasters, it is specially modified - it has its own mini switch for the neck/bridge combination. Despite being David Gilmour's favourite guitar, he still included it in a 2019 auction in which he sold almost all of his guitars (125 pieces). The total proceeds from the sale were $21,500,000 (the Black Strat sold for $3,975,000) and Gilmour donated all the money to charity.

    I especially enjoyed this reaction. David Gilmore is the absolute perfect guitarist, when it comes to making you “feel” the music and the subject of the song. Being that, Dominique is from Poland the whole song had an extra weight to it for you both. Being from the other side of the world, makes it difficult to really comprehend the decades of separation and loss that the Cold War imposed on all of you. I felt your emotion in this song.

    Thanks for your genuine reactions.16 Years old the first live act I ever saw was Pink Floyd, Opera House Manchester England 1969. Felt the bass through the floor and up through my body. My eyes and ears witnessed something otherworldly. Came out a different person. Never used drugs, the music is what will take you to another place. Ummagumma first album I bought . Would close my eyes and everything else in the world did not exist for the time I listened. I have been blessed to have witnessed Pink Floyd many times and David Gilmour and Richard Wright with the rest of the band here. If you can take it, the Gdansk version of Echoes is a must see. It is beautiful, it is dramatic, it is epic, it is long, it is ..... The HDPinkFloyd channel version is the best quality.

    David once said that he expresses with his guitar, things he can't say in words. he does have a beautiful voice, as well. i can listen to it all day long, too. this track is one of my favourites, from my favourite album. this was a great concert, as was his next, at Pompeii, in 2016, except that, as you said, the orchestra does add something extra, here. i notice that other commentators, here, echo what i suggested in you reaction to On An Island, that you react to Echoes. there are no great solos, as such, but there is beautiful guitar work and it's an epic ride; a journey that might overwhelm you, a little, but from which you won't wish to return. it's my favourite piece of music, ever.

    Only Dave can play with the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. FYI: this song ( P.F. song)lyrics and most 99% of Daves solo work are written by his wrote his wife Polly. Polly Qoute: Dave is pretty much an introvert. He records his music first, puts it on tape with a little bit of scat what he trying to say. He said she hits it almost what he trying to say all the time. Checkout same concert "The Blue" " Echoes" Dave "live at Pompeii" starts with 5 A.M. no words but think about the volcano behind him "in any tongue" Polly first credit " what do you want from me" Thanks hardly find anyone reacting to Dave's work. *********************
