    I was at this concert and it was the most unforgettable live experience I had ever had, or probably will ever have. One thing you cannot experience from the video is Pink Floyd's complete, immersive surround sound (which they were pioneers of). It was truly incredible. You need to watch the opening song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" - I'd love to see your reaction to that! And I totally understand your emotional reaction. I've been listening to Pink Floyd for over 50 years and they STILL make me feel that overwhelming emotion, even though I've heard every song literally hundreds of times. There has never, ever been another group of musicians who could hit you so emotionally on that level. All the best.

      I too was at the concert in Earls Court, sadly not on the recording night but the next day. The video is good but cannot let you feel how great it was, there was so much there that you miss in the video, the music hit you, the heat from the flares, the millions of lights from the mirror ball (sorry if that's a spoiler, have you done that song yet?), the whole evening was overwhelming. I've also been to a lot of concerts but never one like that where the audience just sat there unable to take it all in. A truly amazing evening. If you haven't tried it yet Comfortably Numb from Pulse or On the Turning Away from their Delicate Sound of Thunder concert.

    • @gbsailing9436
      @gbsailing9436 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only problem with watching the opening song, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was that they omitted to play the 3rd guitar solo prior to the vocals, which was such a shame - they could've done the song huge respect of playing it faithfully to the audio version. Never mind, they have recorded what we have recorded - for posterity.

    I sometimes feel like I lived my life in the golden era of Rock. I was able to see most of the greatest bands to ever walk the planet. Stones, Who, Sabbath, Rush, AC/DC, Elton John, McCartney and many more. But nobody was better than Floyd. I saw them four times live and it still wasn’t enough. Their concerts were spiritual events. I grew up with Pink Floyd because of my parents, and I started listening to them on my own when I was 12 years old. I’m 45 now and I will listen to them till the day I die. It’s not just a band or music, it’s art. Their songs affects you in every aspect… physically, mentally, psychologically and especially emotionally. David Gilmour sings and plays his heart out on that guitar 🎸 It’s like they consume every fiber of your being. I’ve also passed it on to my daughter who started listening to them when she was 15 and she loves them even more now at the age of 23, and they will grow with her forward on. She says that she definitely will pass it on to her children when the time comes. I’m so grateful that I have Pink Floyd in my life, and I wish that everyone could experience them like I do and like you do now. There’s a meaning,, a message and a purpose behind their songs. Pink Floyd is without a doubt the GOAT!! Thank you so much for embracing them and pass them on to everyone you know 🙏🏼 You have a new subscriber here 👏🏼

    Pink Floyd is a trip. I'm 62 and I discovered them at 14. My cousins passed me a joint and put some Floyd on. I had no idea. For a small town kid who knew nothing of nothing, this stuff blew my mind and my ears wide open. I was slackjawed because it went to my very soul which had never happened before.

    Again, I must say…..I am so impressed with you two. Overwhelmed…….is the appropriate feeling. Pink Floyd does overwhelm your senses. I am an old rock n roller who has seen hundreds, if not thousands of bands in my life time, and I guarantee you…..no other band has ever made me “feel” like PF makes me feel. After years over listening to them (especially this concert) I still cry, I am amazed, I sit in silence, I cheer, I clap, and I am in awe of the talent and abilities of this group. Including the light show, the sound engineers and all the support staff that made this concert possible.
    If you want a break from the emotional weight of Pink Floyd……you need to listen to some Supertramp. They are another English band who are every bit as musically talented as PF, but who have a lighter, more melodic approach to their music. I often switch over to Supertramp after a Pink Floyd session. They are well worth the effort. Thanks again for your beautiful reactions.❤️🇨🇦👍

      My big sister is 52 and she grew up with Pink Floyd like my brother (age 51) and I (age 45), and the only song she likes is Wish You Were Here, while my brother also has the highest amount of love and appreciation for their music. I’m sure most people have heard a song from them but they haven’t embraced them. Their lyrics can be very cryptic and metaphorical and not all people understand it. There’s people who’s heard their name but never heard a song from them. Pink Floyd is a gift to humanity because they take you on a journey which only grows as you age. My daughter is 23, and she started listening to them at the age of 15, and they continue to grow with her.

    The word I always used to describe Pink Floyd's music (especially live) is immersive. It's not background music you half listen to while you do something else. When they play, you're in it. It surrounds you, it permeates you. Everything else is background noise you tune out.

    I saw them at Legion Field (stadium) filled to the brim with 70 thousand like-minded people all on the same 'frequency' - so to speak. Probably 9 months prior, I spent the night in line in Ferguson Center on my college campus to be there when the ticket office opened. It was their Division Bell tour in May 1994. The show was total, absolute sensory overload. I don't know how they pulled this off night after night. I recall reading somewhere they had different sections of the PA on different delays so sound would reach everyone at the same time. The stage was just so absolutely enormous. Lasers were beaming just over the top of the south end zone. I have vivid flashbacks of portions of the show but it was so much to take in that I couldn't commit it all to memory. I'd give anything to go back and have that experience for just a few minutes. I expect there will be nothing like it for the rest of my days.

    When the album "The momentary laps of reason" came out, we took our big Loudspeakers out on the balcony at the party for new years day and the song "Sorrow" played into the atmosphäre. I love Pink Floyd since my age of 12, at 1970. My older brother and sister "gave" music to me. I have many LPs and could enjoy them live. Btw: one of the background singer is Sam Brown.

    @MDElam ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is such a powerful song, and the concert is probably one of the best, and not because it's the most sensational, but because it's one of the most balanced performances ever. The balance is in the moods achieved in the various songs (emotions run from happy to sad, relaxed to intense) and in the production (the music, lights, sounds, movements, etc.), all of which contribute to the overall impression of each moment. The crazy thing is that no one in Pink Floyd is a virtuoso in the usual sense, but they are all masters of their craft in terms of the essentially human. This is not meant to diminish virtuosity, which has merit in itself, but meant to highlight the ability of Pink Floyd (and other artists for sure) to connect art to humanity. Pulse is a perfect storm of talent, craft, and the human touch. I doubt anyone in the band was thinking like that on stage (they probably were trying to perform well, had to rehearse hard, keep tons of technical matters in mind while performing, etc.), but the result of such dedication and discipline is something transcendent.
    Someone below mentioned the song, "Fat Old Sun," and I'd say that, along with some others, can act as a counterpoint to the intensity of a song like "Sorrow." In fact, that Pink Floyd's catalogue is so diverse speaks to their overall range and talent. Love your reactions, your interactions as a couple, your appreciation of the music, and also your appreciation of us fans! Peace!

    The best way I can articulate the lighting at the Pink Floyd shows I've attended is...organic. The lighting changes depending on the emotive effect the music is intended to have on the listener. A good deal of the music in this song has a dissonant quality and the lighting for the most part is dark and ominous to match that dissonant sound. In the parts where it looks like the stage is a blowing up or a UFO is landing with all the bright lights, Gilmour is just shredding the guitar. It feels like the lighting is the finale of a top-tier fireworks show where the lights and sounds are out of control. This aspect sets Pink Floyd apart from any concert I've ever attended. The crew that controls those lights are geniuses themselves. I guess that it doesn't hurt that the lighting guys likely had approval for a gazillion dollar lighting budget.

    I note during the comments she said 'I can't put my finger on it' and also 'lost for words', she really is getting into Pink Floyd, the lyrics of their songs are coming into her every day speech. I recommend 'Coming back to Life' from the same concert and the Division Bell album, one of my favourite tracks, sure to bring the tears on.

    You we’re breaking my heart.
    But how do they do it?
    A group of people come together and bring an idea to fulfillment. Imagine if we could all come together in spite of our differences and decide to make the world a better and safer place.
    I think Pink Floyd has that message.
    You two are beautiful! The obvious love you have for each other is wonderful.

    The permisse in Pink Floyd's was Sound & Light. And they fullfill it so well. There's nothing better than Pink Floyd. You should react to the first and intro master piece on this concert (Pulse), the magnificient Shine on You Crazy diamond!!!

    So happy to see Pink Floyd reach into your soul. That is exactly where it belongs. Music yes, but more of an experience of life and emotions that the whole world can share. Dominika I have a solution for your dilemma. When you feel overwhelmed, put your headphones back on and put the music on repeat. Each time it will connect more deeply and your mind and imagination will become one with it. After over 50 years listening, they standalone!

    I have to say - it's OK to feel this music. If you do, then it is mission accomplished for them as artists. I saw them twice in concert and to say it was epic is an understatement. ❤

    this song grabs every heart string of any person, the lyrics tell a life truth that we all face, time goes by, we all get weaker, promises get broken on and on but how david can make that guitar cry grabs ur attention and makes u coil

    I was there, at Earls court. I remember arriving by tube, walking though the tunnel into the arena. The anticipation was immense. How could they be any better than the last time I had seen them at Knebworth. But truly the Pulse concert was a total sensory experience. The vibration of the bass through your body, the balance of the vocal and music was perfect and the lights and lasers were impeccably timed. On the way home on the tube there was one song that was in my head and that was "Shine on you crazy Diamond" A simply beautiful piece of music. You really need to experience it. However if words are your thing try "Keep Talking", you have heard nothing like it.

    when the music is more able to express the feeling of sorrow, than words can ever do! Thats what it's all about to create a masterpiece, and its not only the music, its the kind of tone chosen and composed, the ambience and the light, that perfectly support that. No wonder, that you could not express your feelings, words simply can not do this. So, that is the epitome of psychodelic rock, which comes from the 70s and aimed to pinch the psyche and create delight or sorrow or whatever feelings are possible, No drugs needed, just music. See, this is 45 years old and still has just such an impact today. When i was a child, i heard o lot of classical music which then may be 100 years old or 200 and was considered important for ever. I think this is not bit less important and will also stand the test of time. It once will also get a period adequate classification like baroque, rokkoko or romantic music got. In the last decades i have not heard any nearby in depth music, since that very very productive and versatile music period.And all the classical composers hat the ability to get such a variety of tones and ambient support.

    You guys are not seen for who you are. I know you are awake to feelings and reality that almost all of us just think of as a science fiction movie. In your case though, it is real and down-to-earth. I celebrate your wife as one of the most wonderful people on this Earth!! I praise your kindness and compassion!!! Thank you! To the rest of you who think I'm nuts. So be it!!!!

    I can only say, I Love you two. I was there for this tour in BC. I was in back. it was insanely perfect. What i would like to add. In the video when the lights white out the entire stage? that is not how the camera percieves the event. it actually looked like that. the entire stage whited out in a soft glow of whiteness. the peak of the arc of stage lighting was about 5 story building high.
