I do have a Kymco 200i and I like the fact that I can ride and never have to shift. That means I can considerate on where I am going and on the road. The belt is rated for 7,000 miles and is a lot easier to change out that a chain and sprockets. Oh, did I mention I am 76
I bought a used Kymco 500 xciting last year and it's been a great bike to ride. It cruises at 70-75 miles an hour with no problems. I ride it to work at 43 miles one way and it handles great. Would love to try the 550. Thanks for the video!
Good work! I traded my Burgman 650 for this one last week. And it is completely different to ride on. The AK 550 had only 2000 km. It feels like a real motor bike (again). And the funny thing is that I noticed that now I am being hunted by the real motor bikers....they just can's stand this thing. It is so fast at stop lights or when you overtake a car and the cornering is just fabulous. Even my wife said that I am a completely different rider compared with the Burgman. It is such fun to ride on it. And compared to the Burgman he is very light! The only thing is that I experience a weird sound somewhere in the bike between 4000-6000 rpm equaling 40-100 km/h. I cannot describe it you should experience it. And indeed I do not notice if my wife is stepping on. Not in suspension nor power. Now I am going to a Kymco dealer in Germany because there is a lot of experience there with Kymco AK 550. He told me that the external V belt is probably to tight. So they have to slack it but that takes about 2,5 hrs...It is not a pleasant feeling. But for the rest it is a super bike. Just wow. And I had also the T Max 530 but there is no comparison. Greeting from The Netherlands.

We can't get Tmax in USA, so bought the AK Symco 550, very comparable and cost a lot less, accelerates very fast and comfortable in long distance drives
I own a Suzuki Burgman AN650 Executive which I consider to be the benchmark of maxi scooters. I haven't ridden the Kymco but I would consider it as an alternative or maybe if I were trading to a new bike. After reading the review as well as the video I have a much better idea of the bike's overall performance and specs. I now know it has ABS but no traction control. It appears as if the screen is not electrically adjustable which I feel is a downfall. The Burgman screen is electrically adjustable meaning good air flow at low speed and good wind protection at high speed. I have a concern that the mirrors are a long way from the rider making it hard to adjust while riding but necessary when you have a pillion. Thanks for the rieview.
I have a Burgman 400 & 200 and cannot find a decent used 650 anywhere near me, seen the Kymco for sale near me and now I'm looking for honest reviews. Much as I love my Burgmans I might have to cross over
Goru its Space Grey. The bike is 550cc with 54hp. It’s a great bike, I have just about done 5000km on mine and have ridden with Naked bikes up to 1200cc and not been left behind. All of my friends who have ridden it have been amazed. Very, very competent bike.
I know I’m late here.. but can anyone compare the ride comfort to the Burgman 400? I really like the comfort in the Burgman . But I’d like to go bigger. The 650 is a heavy bike. I do a ton of city riding along with freeway. This Kymco looks to be the best if both wolds. Just not sure if it’s as comfy as the 400. Thanks!
It was a super comfortable ride, the wide/low seat and lumbar support made for a perfect combo. You shouldn't struggle with the weight if you've been riding the Burgman as the KYMCO is only about 10kg heavier.
I took the butt/back support off the seat and now I can have my legs fully stretched out in front of me like the big cruiser bikes.....so damn comfortable I never want to get off.....amazing bike....and yes I said BIKE because it is a full-blown motorcycle and the only reason they call it a scooter is because there are no foot pegs or clutch!
I would pay big money to see someone take all the plastic panels off and put them back together nice and tight! I want to paint mine but worried I cannot get them apart without breaking something and getting them back on perfectly.....
Nice review, good job. I'd possibly prefer the T-Max but being s shorty, I understand the Yamaha is very wide so seems a taller than it is. Hope the AK is less wide and can get my feet down. AK way cheaper too
I'm 5'8. I've tried both Tmax 560 and the AK. Tmax is a no go for me as the seat is so wide, I'm on my tippy toes. The AK has a better seating configuration as the seat is more narrow and low. I can flat foot one side or both feet are on my soles with the heel very slightly lifted. You can say its almost feels flat footed on the ground. All in all I have more confidence on the AK than the Tmax. But I'm not saying the Tmax isn't great. It is! I just don't like the seating position. It spreads your legs too much. But maybe if I was 6 feet tall lol.
All other stats aside, 6'4"/ 250lbs, coming off a Versys 650LT, would you recommend or not? I love scooters. I'm just afraid that it is gonna be too small, size/ comfort wise. My dealer is a state away so I can't just go and sit on it. There is only one left, and I would have to commit without actually sitting on it.
I bought the 2022 AK 550 and removed the butt/back support from the seat and being 6 feet tall with long legs I can now have my legs fully stretched out in front of me like the Big cruiser bikes! So damn comfortable and enjoyable and nobody will beat you from one red light to the next!
Hi. Some people complain about fuel gauge accuracy. Did you experience this kind of problem? Is is possible to use an external gps device like tomtom or garmin? How good is the app that Kymco provides us with? Enjoy your rides! :)
What Jeff didn't tell us is that he doesn't fit on the scooter. If you are over 6 feet tall you won't fit on this scooter. One way to solve that is to get something like this - Airhawk air Seat Cushion. That will elevate your body on the seat and allow for better angle for your legs and more upright position.

thats because they changed the muffler thats not the stock muffler anymore
