    Use some big quilts. Tack or sew them in place! Don't forget the insulation! :)

    For the roof you could liquid nail the ply wood to the roof

    I think it would be cool just to cover the roof with some type of spray mount, put some kind of insulating fabric, and then cover that with a printed tapestry! It would add some nice color and brightness 😄

      @mari.johnson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like where your mind's at! I've been kind of thinking of something similar and the thing we ordered online was fabric, but still not sure how it will work.. Thanks for your input!

    Hi Mari (and Nick), for your roof why not just use a bamboo Venetian blind, when closed it would look totally cool , can be cut to size and weighs nothing!

    • @mari.johnson
      @mari.johnson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm that could be cool! The only thing is we were hoping for something that would be an extra layer of insulation, but you never know! Thanks for the tip :)

    It's so nice to watch a van conversion video where you guys don't entirely know what you're doing! Makes me feel like I, or anyone, could do it too. Keep with videos, I love watching them!

    My wife and I are going to mount cook and tekapo on show weekend in 3 weeks, hoping to fly my drone over icebergs in Lake Tasman, and over the lupins in Tekapo.

    You guys are moving at lightning pace! For the roof, I'd say screw some .5cm plywood to the frame just above the side windows from one side to the other. As long as the plywood is curved towards the roof slightly, they shouldn't need any support in the middle... but that's just a guess^^

    • @mari.johnson
      @mari.johnson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooh I like this idea! I can picture exactly what you mean. I'll have to look around for some thinner plywood! haha, it feels like we are going so slowly!

    Nick Question:
    What tools (clippers, scissors, beard-comb) does Nick use to keep his beard looking so good?
    And you please do a quick walk around the garden in one of your vids? We always get glimpses of it in the background and it looks amazing :)

    Fiberglass for the roof? It's light and can screw in to places with ease. I have no idea if that would work but worth looking into.

    Hey Mari! The van is coming together, I can't wait to see what beautiful places you explore in it. Maybe you could use peg board for the ceiling? Zip ties as well as screws could keep it up. Or possibly longer thin pieces of wood? Good luck! :)

    Hi Mari
    The way he put on those gloves I thought he was going to say "bend over".
    NorCal Bay Area...we had wildfires in the North Bay 40 ppl died hundreds still missing and the smoke blanketed the Bay Area. Stayed indoors mostly for the past couple of weeks.
    When I'm free I'll buy a post card from you and maybe be a patreon?
    I want to help. ☺️ ❤️

      @mari.johnson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been watching the news and trying to keep up to date with those fires - so devastating. Hope you and your loved ones are safe. Aw thanks for the continued support! I never set up a patreon, but thanks for thinking of me. Though actually, I think I'd rather you donate that money to those who were affected by the fires :)

    Not sure how easy it is to find but you can use 1/8" thick sheets of wood and cut/bend to fit your roof. Then you can use spray mount and fabric to cover the wood.

    • @mari.johnson

    Instead of the plywood, why not use the same type of material you're using for the walls? It would work with some insulation between that and the roof. Otherwise, perhaps someone could weld in a couple of extra metal struts across the roof area, to give more support for the heavier plywood. BTW, am I detecting a slight New Zealand accent coming from you? It certainly sounded like it a couple of times. 😀

    • @mari.johnson
      @mari.johnson  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the walls we did use plywood ha! Hmm some welding might work... Not sure about the accent! 😜

    • @karmatso4844
      @karmatso4844 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, It was kind of hard to tell on my phone, but the material you were using for the walls seemed pretty thin and light. There shouldn't be an issue using that for the ceiling. When you said plywood, I was thinking of the heavy stuff they use for homes here in the States. It's coming along nicely. I hope to start on mine this winter.
