Great case, great video... ...reminds me of my internship at an architect 30 years ago, where I built dozens of models from cardboard... :-) I also started with cardboard cases for my eurorack system, helped to keep the cost down and find out what I need... now I make cases from folded aluminium sheets...
@@JensPaldam No, I don't use instagram... I'm currently starting to build two new cases (1x126hp, 1x42hp) and I will document the building process. As soon as I'm done, I will post some pictures on the modwiggler DIY cases thread... I'll let you know... The one aluminium case that I've built is not perfect, but I like it. There is still some room for improvement, so if someone else is taking my ideas any further, I would be very interested in the outcome...

I am amazed at the quality and attention to detail in the making of this video and the units . Now its over a year you had them how are they holding up? Do you do any thing differently if you build one now? I am now playing the video back for the 7th time. love the soundtrack!

I still have 12U of cardboard cases working fine. I am building a new 6U cardboard case right now with a design based on some new techniques. I will make another shorter video for this at some point in the near future.
that's true, I'm trying to figure that out.But i saw that you can get a nice finish by sticking the paper on a very smooth surface like acryl or even glass.It depends of course on the glue you'r using.
For power supply, I recommend TipTop Audio 15V 2000mA External Power Supply. It’s build for the uZeus. Depending what the power sockets look like in the country you live in, you might need to buy an adapter. I bought mine trough Analogue Zone, where they had some that fit sockets in Denmark. The two things keeping the distance are 1hp blind panels from Doepfer.
Beautiful craftsmanship! I'd just be careful cutting with your straightedge on that incorrect side - your knife could slip easier and gash your hand. I've got a few stitches from cutting that way myself. The proper side of your straight edge will help prevent your blade from jumping ;)
It will survive falling from table to floor. difficult to predict how well it would take a fist beating, I guess it depends on how much punch there is in you. Do your knuckles itch when you see a cardboard case?
Amazing video. the stop frame in time to music is class is the material used foam core art board? thinking of giving this a try myself i've got 2 rows of 84hp happy ending kit sitting naked on my desk :)

Tak! På dansk hedder det skiltekarton, men det er stort set det samme som passepartoutkarton. Limen er helt almindelig trælim. Du kan fx bruge Bostik trälim (inne) :)
Hi Quentin, The side panels and wooden cheeks in the pdf have been created in 1:1 so If you print it making sure that the printer settings are 100% size or "Actual Size" (default is often "Fit to page") you can use the drawings in the pdf as a template. That is what I do. Cut out the shapes, place them on the wood, and trace the shape with a pencil. Please note that the rectangular cardboard piece that the case is folded from, is 1:2, so you can't use that method there. I hope that helps, otherwise, write to me on Facebook :)

I prefer cardboard because I can build a case in my living room, without having to go to a woodshop. Also, the cardboard I use is 2 mm thick. Most types of wood become brittle when sliced so thin. With this design, I can build a case from only three pieces (not including the wooden panels). With wood, I would have to glue more pieces together to achieve the same shape. Finally, It would take me more time creating a case out of wood. I can build a cardboard case over a weekend. I have so far built six, and each new case becomes better and stronger. I hope that answers your question :)
Thanks for the word of caution. The kind of cardboard used here isn't more flammable than wood. I tried holding a lit match under it, and it didn't catch fire easily, but you are right, there is always a risk of electrical fire and it makes good sense to switch off the power and pull the plug when the system is not in use. Finally, It's not so much about saving money - even if it is a lot cheaper, but rather about building a case with a specific design.

I see many Eurorack synthesiser owners use that CME MIDI keyboard. It's has only the USB port, no MIDI DIN, no CV/Gate. What are the advantages of it?
No special advantages. It's just smaller and less ugly than most midi keyboards. I also like that the keys are only a couple of millimeters tall.

Looks like greyboard. You can get it in art or framing shops.
