    Make sure you unplug the amplifier before doing this! Also: could you guys add some sort of soft material to the interior side of the circle, so the glass doesn't shatter upon clamping?

    Yea and it wont fit if the base of the tube is just att tiny bit wider. I bought new JJ6550(notice the exakt same manufacturer)and the clamp wont clamp on because they changed the base of the tube. Great stuff.

    Please, could you reply to my questions? Here's; Sincerly, what is a power-tube retainer for? I can understand about preamp tube shields which do to cover entirely the preamp-tube... but I don't get the why there's the need to put that sort of stuff also on power tubes.. expecially if those don't cover entirely the power tubes, but seem to hold them down by their springs. IMHO that tensin - caused by springs - might make power tubes broken
