Replacing a drifting thumbstick in the right hand joy con from a Nintendo Switch console.
A fairly straightforward fix so long as you take your time and handle the parts delicately.

Have to fix my splatoon themed joy con stick because my cat knocked my switch off the entertainment center and snapped the joystick off. And because Nintendo won’t repair it (do to it not being a standard color) I found this video incredibly helpful. Thank you

Thank you so much! All these other tutorials i kept coming across only had info for the left joycon, so when i went to open up the right (thinking it would be the same), i was shocked and stumped on what to do next. Luckily, your tuorial was the exact thing i was looking for!

I found the recalibration function in settings, and it worked. It took a few attempts, and once simply selecting "restore factory settings" from that one, it took one more time of calibrating and it's good. I wonder how many people could have tried that first. So, my plan is to just keep recalibrating when needed and buy a new one when recalibrating no longer works.
I hope that keeps working for you! All the ones I've fixed couldn't be recalibrated, unfortunately.
@@JoeBleeps Me too! When it stops, I will either have the money to buy a new one, have half the money to buy that yellow one, or no money and just learn how to fix it mechanically. I was raised during a time when women weren't taught those things, so I'm very intimidated by it, lol

10/10 repair but sadly when I put everything back together something broke and I don’t know what it is . But it has 3 orange things coming out

My question is, do these new set of joy stick actually work in the long run? There have been some people who have said that the drift came back after 2 weeks and need to replace the stick again.

Thanks for the feedback. I just recevied my repair kit yesterday. I hope these new joy sticks last a solid year. If all goes as planned Imma go a head and purchase a crate filled with analog sticks.
@@Darth_Anomalous having done the swap a few times now I can say it gets much easier once you're used to it. But hopefully you won't have to 😅
Why replace an entire cars engine when you can easily just put a proper TERMINAL in so your spark plugs work correctly? Just place a fitted piece of plastic where nintendo so graciously cut a stupid unnecessary square hole causing these controllers to chump out in my untmost humblest opinion otherwise what exactly does that square cutout do? Mine are now plugged up with thick plastic for over a year with no overheating issues and my drift is completely gone😊
I replaced these before the other fix became common knowledge, but I'm glad it worked for you, I've not tried that method yet
