Hudson took what could have been a very one dimensional character and created a legacy across both Herc and Xena. Incredibly gifted actress-I’m sooo angry Hollywood didn’t see how talented she is...she’d tear up any Marvel pic if given the chance💗
Back in the 90's many tv actors in shows like this were not given the respect they deserve. Now thanks to Netflix and hulu even movie stars are in shows now. Even Lucy Lawless is underrated. I only saw her in battle star and sparticus . I really did love the characters she portrayed. She plays a good antagonist too. I wanna see her as some type of character in a show like the witcher maybe a bruxa
yes hudson love and yes can you imagine her playing a villian in marvel or D.C. i would love to see her play like poison ivy or a banshee cause she has awesome war cry and scream very very loud and haunting and its her voice without no special effects she does the war cry always at comicons
The show wouldn’t have been the same without her. The problem is that Hollywood looked down on Xena as cheese when it was so much more than.

Hudson Leick played the perfect Nemesis to Xena. A deadly combination of brains, beauty and braun with a touch of evil spawned by her need for revenge. It's a shame we don't get to see Hudson anymore because she could act rings around these MCU female leads.

I find this scene kind of foreshadowing, in the antithesis kind of way. In the afterlife, Xena sacrificed herself to "repair" the damage she had done to Callisto and set her free. She did good to someone she so deeply wronged. Taking to mind that it was, indirectly but undoubtfully Callisto's fault that Solan was killed, later on Callisto helped creating Eve, as a 'compansation'. She did good to someone she deeply wronged. The wheel turned. Eve was sort of the antithesis of Hope in that way. "You should have been my child, you know that."

She was my Mr. Rogers. I absolutely loved "Auntie Calisto" as a child and still do as an adult.
When she talked slow and sassy she was sexy...I loved her myself

I wished the actress could have parlayed that role into something bigger. I think she ended up working as a fitness instructor. She was the dark counterpoint to Xena. She is on the same level of the Joker or Lex Luther.

4:17 Seeing Ares, god of war, in fear meeting Dahak was and still is a frightening scene. Reminded me always of Stephen King's It.

Have these episodes been remastered? They are so much clearer than the DVDs!!!
We have access to the original content and we edit it for the best possible image quality!
@@HerculesXena - Thank you so much for answering. Are there plans for Xena to be remastered for Bluray. I understand they used both 16mm and 35mm Film during the Six Seasons. And the CGI was probably rendered for SD. It would be great if it was remastered. Like Star Trek: TNG - the remastered version looks great on Bluray and Netflix streaming!

@@HerculesXena Please re-release the Xena collection on DVD and use this original 4:3 image. Most studios put the 16:9 and cut the frames up and from below away just to fit into 16:9 which gives huge heads on TV. it wasn't meant to be like that. I have all the DVD seasons from Xena. Love it.. I would rebuy it @ this quality. Makes me want to rewatch the series from beginning

I saw someone on reddit took an AI program and did a :30 clip of this episode in 4k and it looked incredible.. it looked perfect.. this show deserves 4k 16:9 remaster but only the studio has the 16:9

Why does Callisto want to die in the first place?
Because her life was nothing but pain, essentially. Xena (when she was still evil) killed her family which caused Callisto to snap and become a much more twisted person as she sought revenge. Then she died and ended up in Tartarus being tortured day after day. She became immortal and later became a God, but in the end that couldn't soothe her scarred and damaged soul because it just meant she'd live forever with her bitterness and hatred. So she wanted to die so completely that all the pain, the memories, all of it would be gone. No afterlife. Nothing.
@@Gaelek13 Callisto eventually went to Hell, became a Demon, then an Angel and was reincarnated.
@@podsmpsg1I know. I was explaining the psychology behind why Callisto at this point in the story wanted oblivion, not simply death.
@Qwerty Bastard Long story short: she got it from another psycho bitch who'd already eaten some and become a Goddess herself.
As for why...probably because she's insane and was out to kill Xena again.

You saved me from typing it.Callisto didn't show real interest toward death, though the idea was said offhand to Velasca in "A Necessary Evil," until after she and Hope killed Solon in "Maternal Instinct." After helping to kill Xena's son, she realized that revenge would never bring her peace. That's when she determined that oblivion would be the only other option. Unfortunately, there is no oblivion in the Xenaverse as spirits/gods/humans always go somewhere. Her character arc was interesting, but I preferred it when she was desperate for revenge prior to "Maternal Instincts" which changed her character drastically. "A Necessary Evil" is my favorite episode, especially the campfire scene.
It drives me crazy that they never explained y that Priest referred to himself as WE
