  • This is a review of the Dune rooftop tent, I've had this particular tent on my homemade trailer for over a year and it has stood up to heavy rain and high winds no problems.
    Apart from a couple of picky points I totally recommend them

    I've had the Dune 1.2M wide version, guess I've slept in it over 240 nights over 8 months on the road.
    A brilliant tent and well worth the $1000 when bought on special from Annaconda.
    It is plenty spacious and an added bonus packs down with pillows and bedding enclosed.
    Being a soft cover tent, as opposed to a hard shell, I used a pair of soft roof racks to mount my surfboard on top.
    Can't really fault it, water tight and comfortable.
    I do recommend fitting a matress topper and a matress protector under a fitted sheet, and yes the 1.2M version is about a king single size.
    Loved your vid...
    I have now sold my Dune and gone for a hard shell from Drifta 4x4.
    3x the price and not as accommodating for bedding.
    I really can't highly recommend this tent enough, it's a well performing budget entry to free n wild camping...
    Gotta laugh. I can, and have, set this tent up in the pitch black with no artificial lighting many times, too easy 👍

      Thanks for the feedback.
      Yeah I've got the same setup as you had on your bed, mattress topper and sheepskin protecter and fits inside when packed up in the cover. I also now have a doona and fitted sheet for easier in and out for toilet breaks in the middle of the night, much easier than a sleeping bag.

      So the 1.2 version can actually store bedding?! 😁 I'm looking for a rtt that's pretty light, opens itself on gas struts and can actually be backed down with bedding inside. You can find the first two but never usually with the third. They're usually too damn thin for bedding. But if the 1.2 version can actually be packed down with bedding then it's hands down the one I'm gonna choose, especially being lighter than most other rtt and thinner too for less wind resistance 👌

      How is the 1.2 a king single size?? Its 120 wide. KS is far less wide - Everything KS is too small, and Double is too wide.

      That's what I call it, I bought a King single mattress protector and king single fitted sheets and sheets and they fit the 1.2 mtr size.
      A king single is 107cm x 203cm so it's pretty close.

    I had one of these returned it back to Anaconda after 3mths when one of the gas struts failed. To fix the water pooling on the fly, pass the black strap under the fly and it will act as a tensioner when you clip it back in the holder.

      Curious in what you mean by "extending poles", if you mean the poles that hold up the tent up they actually don't extend, there that length.

    Hi mate, I have the same tent and have solved the issue with the rain pooling in the front awning of the tent.

    • @Gunnadoo
      @Gunnadoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How did you fix it ?

    • @reallygoodplayer
      @reallygoodplayer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gunnadoo I got a aluminium pole from tentworld, I think it was 19mm or 21mm wide, got to C clips. Stretched out the awning and measured the distance between the tent and awning, cut the pole that length and then put the C clips on each end. I then clipped it onto the tent and then the awning and it acts as support so it doesnt fill with water. Look up DOMETIC | How To Operate Your TRT140M Rooftop Tent on youtube and you will see the metal pole (pause the video at 1:32 and you will see it) that comes with that model. Its the exact same tent as the dune one. I just made my own.
