    I had been wearing Adidas Trail Cross SL for about 3 years. Went to an Enduro Race in Alabama and FORGOT my shoes. Found some Giro Riddance at a Local shop and fell in LOVE with them. Will be running Giro for a while methinks!

    I had the Giro exact same shoes and the exact same Chester race face pedals and after a year my giro sole got destroyed. I only used it on the weekends. The shoe it self is good and comfortable my only problem was that the sole design is bad. The small nobs are falling apart much faster that a bigger five 10 nobs. I just ordered a five 10 freerider.

      same problem here... seems like five ten is next up 🤘
      just wondering how adidas has changed the brand...? is it still top tier?

      @@marcohillenbrand7039 yes my five 10 is way better. Giro looked nicer but my 5ten after a year still no damage on the sole. Highly recommended.

    I have a pair of the Giro Jacket II. I bought them primarily because I got a great deal on Amazon. I have about 800 miles on them so far. the pedals I use are the Crank Brothers Stamp 7 with the longer pins. With all that said, I'm not a fan of these shoes. There's something about the tread pattern that seems to not hook up on the pins of my pedals. On my right shoe (which never seemed to stay in place on the pedal) there are wear points where the four corners of the pedals would rest. It has ground a hole the size of a quarter through the tread and created a void where the pin can no longer grab the shoe. The shoe itself is very comfy however and pretty good for walking in. They also have a nice lace holder on the top of the shoe to keep your laces out of the way. I would not buy these shoes again. I am looking at Five Ten or Ride Concepts.

    I agree with you, I prefer a softer sole but a better feel of the pedals. I think that is kind of the point of the shoes.

    My giro jacket’s sole broke down super fast. Maybe 10 rides. They look good so I just wear them around now. Ride in 510’s and Crank bros. Both of those are excellent in fit, grip, and durability

    worn out a pair of Giro Jackets in 3500 miles.....your explanation of the reduced grip on them would explain why I had to lengthen the pins which has obviously been the cause of excessive wear . New pair of something due now 5-10 s dont know ...need to try some.

    Great video mate I'm subbing. Just wondering how do the freeriders hold up in the rain. Do they get slippy or soggy. Also would they be alright for everyday use. Thanks 👍

    • @DrJMTB
      @DrJMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the sub and 5 10s generally hold their grip in the wet as good as anything I've ridden to date. As far as every day wear, they're not quite supportive enough for my liking, but it could totally be done. I've been rocking the new Crankbrothers flats shoes and find them to be WAY more comfortable for all day casual wear. Stay tuned for a full review on those.

      Awesome and thank you! The Five Ten Freeriders really are relatively wide, especially when you compare them to the Giros or the Ride Concepts. th-cam.com/video/ZB7uP3aT74o/w-d-xo.html

      I dunno. I've had 2 pairs of Five Tens since they have been bought out and they've held up just fine and literally grip twice as well as the Giros.

  • @jacksonadams9549

    and should i stay true to size?

    • @DrJMTB
      @DrJMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally did. I typically am a 10 or 10.5 in most shoes. I tried a 10.5 in the Five Tens and sent them back. I can't stand a MTB shoe to be loose at all. My Jacket 2s are 10.5, but I could probably rock them in 10 as well had they had them in stock.
