The armor that was shown is a form the dragon can take, sort of like a remote control doll. He fought Shalltear before Ainz and ran away because he felt he couldn't beat her. She apparently fought him in her base maid outfit form if I remember correctly.
Just adding info. He entered in her "activation range" and got attacked. As soon as he fought back, she changed to her battle gear. In Season 1, Shalltear should be in her battle gear when Ainz went to fight her. The anime just forgot about it.
Also worth noting that him in that armor was probably lv 80 while Shalltear was lv 100. The actual Dragon lord dude was only lv 90 though. But if you've read volume 14, he actually fought Ainz... Oh wait spoilers lmao.

So a summary of what happend in the beginning of episode: 6 great gods were players who came to this world 600 years ago and created slane theoracy. That dragon was going around with his armour and formed a group with that old woman and made the 13 heroes around 200 years ago, and after their adventures ended he left his armour and is living as dragon again, and he is guarding that place. The fight between shalltear and armour of that dragon happend after she got brainwashed, but after shalltear overpowered his armour, he ran away and is now looking for more information about this new group. Based on that old woman's dialogue, players are summoned every 100 years, and there are a lot of players impact in the world if you look around.
And now let's talk about why shalltear got brainwashed, and no it's not spoiler: Ainz killed nigun (sunlight scripture) in episode 4 and blocked any information gathering type magic, so slane theoracy suddenly lost contact with one of their best groups and didn't even find their corpses. Then they thought it might be because of "elder coffin dragon lord" and they sent their strongest group(black scripture) to investigate and brainwash the dragon lord. Shalltear at the time they arrived in that area, sent her beast all over jungle and accidentally fought them, and they were forced to use that brainwashing world item on her instead. Then comes the dragon in the beginning of this episode, he felt "black scripture"s movement and went after them to see if they want to do anything suspicious, and encountered shalltear in her NPC mode, he wanted to get rid of her since she was strong and threatened everything living in the area, but he didn't expect shalltear to be that powerful and went back to investigate the situation more.

Absolutely hyped to see you guys react to this entire show. It has its hiccups in animation here and there but the story just grips you from start to finish with the level of craftsmanship in the fantasy.

Shalltear , while pursuing some people , came face to face with the guy in armor at the start that had no choice but to use the item to run away which caused the end of season fight situation. The dragon is probably acquainted with the six great gods mentioned at the start and suspect a "great evil wanting to corrupt the world" because of Shalltear encounter. He sent the old woman to investigate. Btw the pain theme edit was so good , caught me offguard.

Let me explain when that old lady activated her world-level item dress, it was supposed the take control of any living creature in existence because that's how op the item is. but because Shalltear was NPC and not a normal creature from the New World it didn't work the same. so instead of taking control of her mind, it just reset her to NPC coding, she basically became a final boss you have to interact with in order to activate. And this is how it happened, so before Ainz first interacted with Shalltear, the dragon knight met her first, that's why she wasn't in ugly form because she turned back to normal to fight him, the dragon knight ran away, and sometime later Ainz came to cast the magic with the ring Also, Ainz is smart but he is basic level smart, like any average person, he never put security to watch Shaltear and we already know that sometimes he acts goofy.

For him to get them into his world however, he needed to perform a ritual with wild magic in order to bring them here. Problem is, that Players who have a world item on them will be transported as well. Like the six great gods of slaine, the 8 greed kings and some from the legendary 13 heros.
There is an overlord movie that is mostly a recap of the first season but it does include scenes that where originally excluded. It also rewords somethings that where originally confusing or unintentionally misleading.
I always thought that when they mentioned the Rubik's cube came from the gods 600 years ago that they were referring to the players, who could've possibly created them, since the guardians of Nazarick consider Ainz a supreme being, and another possible theory for why there's a 600-year gap could be that game time in Yggdrasil moved quicker for the npc's than the actual players. (Not a spoiler, just a possible theory.)

The reason PDL was able to survive is because he moved the armor away quickly pass Shalltear's range . Keep in mind she has no World Item and her strength was enough to scare PDL away.
As i read it the 6 gods that where talked about where players and the others (with the rubix cube) where the descendant of them as not everybody that played was a immortal race. Just my 2 cents but there it is.

They only hint at it, but never say it outright, but Players like Ainz appear in this world every 100 years or every couple centuries. The "Great Gods" of the Theocracy nation were players, and there were even "Demon Gods" which, i believe, might have been rampaging NPCs from the Game that got transported to the World, and they either lost their masters or something else happened. The Dragon used the suit of armor as a puppet and went on adventures to fight some of the "Demon Gods" and some of his allies were lower leveled Players, who were not max level like Ainz was, so they were powerful but not "Gods" yet.

The Dragon used the suit of armor as a puppet and went on adventures to fight some of the "Demon Gods" and some of his allies were lower leveled Players, who were not max level like Ainz was, so they were powerful but not "Gods" yet.

There's something you misunderstood the platinum dragon lord fought shaltear in season 1 but it happened of screen before Ainz fought her also you saw the scene where shaltear got mind controled the last scene in episode 10 you just didn't realized it .

Every couple centuries Players come to this Isekai world starting 600 years ago then 400 years ago and so on without spoilers
The girl in black in white is actually level 88, and is able to use Ainz' ability: 'The Goal of All Life is Death" and Shalltear's ability to clone herself.
She actually fights one of the stronger floor guardians later in the Light Novel (not gonna say who cuz of spoilers). But ultimately, she easily cooks a lot of Nazarick and is a real problem.

The two weird opening part in this episode is actually the 'intermission' chapter of the LN (book 4 and book 7. idk why is book 7 in here, considering S2 is book 4-6), which only have connections and explained later down the novel, they are somewhat related, but not in the story now.
