With LBG especially, you should try to reload whenever you would fall off a ledge, change areas, get tapped by a Vespoid, whatever; anything to spend less time reloading means more time huntin'.

Khezu is a monster which will punish you for being greedy.... just because it looks slow doesnt mean you can just keep attacking it when you see an opening....

Yeah, yes. The bigger boom-stick. But for real, though, I loved this control scheme on the bow-guns. Clunky, but simple. I play mhgu and a have a distaste for the always off center reticule regardless if I can strafe while firing. I made an Obituary Gunner with Evade+2 and Bombing Up. I became the bane of all Gravious, right up until they fart bomb me... Hunt on!
dunno why mhfu made me want to main lbg. world got me on the chargeblade band waggon then switch axe. I dabbled with longsword in iceborne for a while, but I never really dug in on lbg in the new world
I'm not super into LBG or HBG in general, I like Bow in World a lot though. I mained LS in MHFU, GS in MH4u, and CB in MHGen, in World I started with CB I think but definitely lean heavily on GS after I figured out the absolutely wonderful tackle move.
Yeah, Plesioth was a pretty big wall for me. It's a tough one... I'll have to think of some main strategies for when I make a video on it. If you bring a frog and haven't gotten into combat with it, you can fish it out of the water for some easy damage. Use sonic bombs to get it out the water, though it'll make it angry as well, so, that can be rough. With good timing you can dodge through its hipcheck... and honestly that's probably going to be how I fight it. We'll see though D:
Honestly, I really disliked how slow the HBG is with unsheathing and putting it away. But I do use it ocassionally. And you tempted me enough. Time to craft the Garuga HBG.😂
That's fair, using Evade Extender, like from Nargacuga's armor, can help a lot, but it's still quite slow. The games have recommended players use HBG if they have support from other hunters, that's from a magazine from the first game, I think. Keep in mind that sometimes it's not necessarily the weapon you're using, or how you're using it, it's the monster you're fighting. Some monsters are just gonna be a mess more often than not if you use some weapons, be sure to experiment 🙂 I think Diablos and Monoblos can be good, using a shield is probably best, both to block roars and just in case you get caught out and can't roll/sheathe in time. I recommend using the shield if you have any doubts about being able to avoid taking damage, the barrel should really only be used if you can make good use of it, otherwise the shield is usually best IMO I hope you have a good time with it!

Could you comment on the quick aim modes for MHFU? I'm playing gunner on 4U and found a great setup that makes quick aim very usable at all but the longest ranges, but I can't seem to reproduce the same behavior here. On 4U what I use is Gunner's Reticle Type 2 (reticle will appear where the camera is pointing beforehand) and Quick Aim Type 3 (on releasing the aim button, the camera goes behind the hunter and the POV is reset). There is no in game explanation on FU and the manual doesn't seem to cover this.
I don't really use gunner weapons a whole lot, when I do I just use the regular aim mode, the over the shoulder aim doesn't really seem that good, but I don't know. You can probably just check what the aim types do in game if you want to know. Mazereon doesn't seem to say much about it: "If you hold L trigger (R button?) while pressing any direction key, you switch to a third person view that allows you to aim on the fly, but it’s not easily done. I don't know really what that could be, Normal S lv3 ricochets on impact, Clust breaks into mini bombs, but Flaming S just kinda explodes. I'm not a bowgun user really so maybe it's a special effect of a specific weapon.
NGL, after MHFU (emphasis on the FU), introduced me to its hitboxes as an initiate Dual-blade hunter, I became a full-time LBG/HBG _(ab)user._ Beating my way through game, running circles around monsters, getting so used to the direction of fire, that I could just tap in the general direction of the monster and fire. Showering atrocities like Diablos, Kirin, etc. with a _bukkake(why did you NOT red-line this word, Browser...)_ of Lvl3 Pellets, as well the amount of catharsis from luring the pesky vespoid, away from spawn and spamming rapid-fire elementals on a Plesioth, atop the entry ledge where NONE of its attacks can ever get you, was absolutely _orgasmic._ With easier access to better gear, I of course outweighed my weapon-usage chart, later on in the game, but LBG/HBG is definitely one of the easier paths to take, as a beginner _(of this now 13 year old game, but hey~)._

Not too sure, but unless you only have MHF2 you should get MHFU if you can, as it's the same game but with more and better features and content. You should be able to transfer your save from MHF2 to MHFU in some capacity.
It depends, but for newer players the shield isn't necessarily a bad idea, but you can't rely on it, or it'll get you killed. Using the shield should be for specific things, like Gypceros' flash or Khezu or Diablos' roar, if you don't have skills to counter act them, and since you'll probably want damage skills instead, taking the shield and playing a little safer isn't a bad idea. The HBG shield is one of the worst shields in the game, it's extremely useful, because it's a shield, but if you're not careful you'll die from chip damage or from being hit too many times in a row. If I ever use a shield it's for an attack/move that is not otherwise easily avoidable, again, such as the roars from Khezu/Diablos/Monoblos etc, since HBG is such a slow and vulnerable weapon type, not being stunned by those roars could help prevent you from dying.
Biggest one is the damage output will be higher with an HBG The Tigrex LBG has an ATP value of 264 (max level) The Tigrex HBG has 360, so that's quite a difference (the true values of those LBG and HBG are 220 and 300 respectively, since bowguns have a class modifier of 1.2.) Besides that, HBGs can use shields, which can be helpful in defense, while LBGs have Silencers, which will lower recoil, but you may know that already of course. I'd recommend reading the bowgun compendium for more information, here's an excerpt from it: "The strengths of HBG are many, as it’s a class that can be played a number of ways. It’s got great elemental damage, great and underrated raw damage (did you know the Ucamulbas Cannon does 614 raw before Kitchen skills, Charms, talons and any other buffs?), and ammo limits aren’t really a problem when you learn weak points. You can equip a shield and use the Guard Inc skill to constantly tank all hits - and even without it, the shield auto-blocks if you aren’t firing. Feel free to use the shield as much as possible in the training school. Just keep in mind that blocking doesn't deal damage to the monster, and you need to deal damage to the monster to defeat them, also keep in mind that avoiding being hit is almost always better than blocking and attack. In games like this, the faster you defeat your enemy, the less time it takes. And since there's always a chance that you can misstep and die throughout the fight, the longer a fight goes on, the more chances there are for you to make a mistake. So, while dealing damage isn't the most important thing, it's pretty important. Thanks for watching.

Nice! I hope you have a great time. I mean, not really honestly, but if you want to stick with it you can get pretty far. Just remember you may want to bring some items like Flash Bombs and maybe traps, and getting Evade Extender will really make things a hell of a lot more practical. Keep practicing and trying with HBG, but I encourage you to experiment with the other weapons, against some monsters you'll just do much better with specific weapons. I think Lance is very good against Tigrex for example, Gunlance vs Plesioth, etc. LBG and Bow are more mobile so it's more likely you can move around and avoid the monster's attacks. I dunno much about them but there's an extremely good guide by Mazereon called the Bowgun Compendium, you should check it out whenever you have any questions about it: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/psp/943356-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/faqs/56818 They designed HBG to be very strong but with the assumption that you'd play with a supporting team, but that doesn't mean you can't play it solo. Well, your health shouldn't be decreasing unless you're in the desert or volcano without cool drinks, or if you're touching lava in the volcano. Armor sets do matter for melee and ranged throughout the whole game, up to a point. I'd recommend focusing on bypassing parts of monsters that you have difficulty with. Hate Khezu's long roar? Try and get High Grade Earplugs, don't like Blangonga's quakes? Get quake resistance. Don't like being staggered by Garuga's wings? Get wind press skills. Stuff like that. More general skills are like increasing your damage, increasing your bullet damage, etc. but damage only takes you so far, though it is very important of course, it might just be funner to not focus on damage all the time, at least in my opinion.
@@nickofebrianto2624 If you're at the snowy mountains, the only reason I can think of that would decrease your health would be mining the khezu whelp on the Kushala Daora skin on area 8
i like the khezu from MHP3rd, he is more nightmare fuel than FU's is, stretch further and looks more like a white xononorph, far more unpredictible and way scarier for thebfirst time player. i still remember when i reached 3⭐ on the village quests, in the snowy map there were these pods that ejected larvae like monsters, disgusting little buggers, right next to a nice little nest with a purple webbing like walls, kinda like the Xenomorph's nest, when i first fought him, i got legit scared to get even close to him.

Feel free to use the shield as much as possible in the training school.

Heres an advice, add power barrel, shields or wathever it is before upgrade, becuz as it upgrades it also gets expensive
I don't see that happening in my game, the price stays the same from base level all the way up to max level.

I just got the game, and im planning to use ranged weapons like heavy bowgun, is it recommended for new players like me to use it?

I mean, not really honestly, but if you want to stick with it you can get pretty far.
Just remember you may want to bring some items like Flash Bombs and maybe traps, and getting Evade Extender will really make things a hell of a lot more practical. Keep practicing and trying with HBG, but I encourage you to experiment with the other weapons, against some monsters you'll just do much better with specific weapons. I think Lance is very good against Tigrex for example, Gunlance vs Plesioth, etc.
LBG and Bow are more mobile so it's more likely you can move around and avoid the monster's attacks. I dunno much about them but there's an extremely good guide by Mazereon called the Bowgun Compendium, you should check it out whenever you have any questions about it: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/psp/943356-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/faqs/56818
They designed HBG to be very strong but with the assumption that you'd play with a supporting team, but that doesn't mean you can't play it solo. Why does my health keep decresing when using heavy bow gun? Do armor sets also matter?
Well, your health shouldn't be decreasing unless you're in the desert or volcano without cool drinks, or if you're touching lava in the volcano.
Armor sets do matter for melee and ranged throughout the whole game, up to a point.
I'd recommend focusing on bypassing parts of monsters that you have difficulty with.
Hate Khezu's long roar? Try and get High Grade Earplugs, don't like Blangonga's quakes? Get quake resistance.
Don't like being staggered by Garuga's wings? Get wind press skills. Stuff like that.
More general skills are like increasing your damage, increasing your bullet damage, etc. but damage only takes you so far, though it is very important of course, it might just be funner to not focus on damage all the time, at least in my opinion.

@@nickofebrianto2624 If you're at the snowy mountains, the only reason I can think of that would decrease your health would be mining the khezu whelp on the Kushala Daora skin on area 8
Another best friend of HBG with shield are elevated cliff and corner that can cover you rear.

i like the khezu from MHP3rd, he is more nightmare fuel than FU's is, stretch further and looks more like a white xononorph, far more unpredictible and way scarier for thebfirst time player.
i still remember when i reached 3⭐ on the village quests, in the snowy map there were these pods that ejected larvae like monsters, disgusting little buggers, right next to a nice little nest with a purple webbing like walls, kinda like the Xenomorph's nest, when i first fought him, i got legit scared to get even close to him.
