My favorite Robin Hood, I traveled out of state to join my cousin on a rifle Elk hunt. Brought my bow just to shoot for fun. I had won a 3D competition not long before. My two uncles were heckling me when I took my first shots at 20 yards. I pushed the target back to 40 and Robin Hooded on my third arrow. They stopped heckling.
You bring back many memories Chris . I’m 86 and don’t wish to relate my accomplishments in our beloved sport. I have shot with Howard Hill a long time ago along with Ann Weber Hoyt .My email begins with 14robinhoods..It has always been this even though I retired from archery competition in the early seventies with 17 Robinhoods . Most were instinctive. My thoughts on what you were trying to achieve was admirable but this rare feat is accomplished usually when you least expect it . I have done it at the practice butt and in competition and always when you least expect it …One thing for certain it is done by the elite fraternity..Welcome to my world even though we are decades apart . Carry on the great work Chris. We’ll shoot together someplace in the next world .I have harvested over 💯 whitetails with my bows
I just got my first compound bow on Monday, just been practicing in the basement at 20ft. I was grouping really well, mostly shafts touching. The next day, 2nd shot got a robinhood. I was pretty excited. Saving that pair for the wall
I first took up bow hunting in 2016. My first bow was a Prime Rize 70#. Had many smashed nocks during practice sessions but only one true RH. Then changed to a Prime Centergy 70#. Had to stop trying to group on one bulls eye due to RH's costing too much in destroyed arrows. In all cases I was using CX Piledriver Hunter 350s and the RH's were impossible to separate without gradually levering apart the first arrow into carbon slivers. These are positively evil/wicked to handle; even wearing ultra heavy duty gloves. The frictional force between the inside of the first arrow and the exterior of the second generated a smell similar to an electrical circuit burning out. I now always practice with one arrow per point of aim to avoid the expensive novelty of RH's. I am a very average archer and attribute the great repeatability of p.o.i. to the Centergy's zero integral torque at full draw.
"This is making me frustrated folks"... Yep, that's me when I'm trying to end the night with a good group and always end up with a flier :) Glad I'm not the only one who gets frustrated.
I’ve Robinhood twice! Here recently with my Mathews V3 31.. and one with a Hoyt maxixis . Both at 30 yards .. but I wasn’t pulling back 70 lbs lol. Awesome video!!!
After 7years away from archery I started a couple of weeks ago. First day at the range 20m and the 7th and 8th shot where a perfect robinhood. My trainer dropped his jaw, and so did I. Havent done it since. Awesome videos you make. Like to follow you. stay safe :)
Great shooting Very accurate. At my last compound outing at 30m I robinhooded a carbon arrow. It is now a wall piece 😁👍. Have done it with my barebow too, in the past !!!
Done it twice. Once when beginner and I had just bought my new set of indoor recurve arrows and tuning them. Then again when switched to compound and bought a new set of X23s for indoor and was tuning them. Guessed that a Robin Hood indicated they were tuned 😂 Don't like tuning, it costs too much.
I did it once with two Blue Streak Select Arrows (30 yards). Was afraid to breath till I ran up to the house and got my camera to take some pics. Pulled them out and they was nothing to worry about. Still stuck together hanging over the door in my office.
I bought my first bow 3 weeks ago and just got my first Robbin Hood today. It was a few moments of celebration, followed by thinking of the cost bringing me back down. They were my Zombie Slayers too.
Robinhood didn't split his own arrow. He split his competitor's... the sheriff's arrow. A true "Robin Hood" would be splitting the dead center bullseye arrow of his competitor, which by the true definition could technically be done on his first shot. 😉
Got my first 'robinhood' just last weekend from 20 yd. I use pin nocks on my VAPs to try to deflect any would-be robinhoods, but I must've hit this one dead square in the back because it obliterated the pin and shoved it inside of the arrow and split the carbon down past the fletching. The pin did however push the other arrow out the side of the carbon, which then still stuck in the target. I still can't believe how much damage the pin took, but at least it saved the second arrow I guess. I think with pin nocks, that's about the most 'robinhood' I can ask for
I bought a PSE Ramped from Gander Mountain when they were doing 50% off. Great deal at the time. I set up a target at 10 yards, shot 2 arrows to make a sight adjustment and somehow got it dead on for arrow 3 and 4. Set up at 20 yards and got one on my second volley of 6. First and only one. I hung the arrows in my office.
Awesome… I started shooting in 4-H many many years ago wanted to be like you with shooting professionally and shooting all over the USA…. Well life happened and that didn’t happen, but I hope to learn more from your videos so keep them coming… (funny thing, I tried to Robin Hood arrows back in the day with my Bear compound polar LTD and 34’ aluminum arrows… it never happened…. Broke a lot of knocks…. Great stuff….
Bryon Ferguson made Myth Busters have to revoke their findings that a Robin Hood wasn’t possible because he did it on command for them. He’s a long bow shooter though
I have done this a few times in my indoor range and I am brand new to this sport. I no longer aim at the same spot with any follow up arrows as it is expensive.
Chris thanks for being real about robin hooding. If you follow anyone on social media, it seems like a "normal" thing to get Robin hoods. Ive been really bummed that i dont have one after 3 years of shooting. Now i dont feel so bad.
I've been shooting for a long time and I've only ever had 2 solid Robin hoods. I've broken lots of nocks and shot through my vanes many times. I got both my Robin hoods using the ezv sight too. I love that stupid sight but I don't use it ad much as I use too
Done Robin Hoods at 20 and 30 yards practicing with my Mathews Creed XS. Had to keep the 30 yard set because it was perfect straight down the middle. It rests in my archery buck antlers now 😂
if you get them stuck and there sticking out the back , take a tip out of another arrow and push the insert against the tip of the stuck arrow . You can push it out and usually pull it out with out a problem . How many robinhood's do you have ?
I'm only a few months into archery and I managed to get a Robin Hood while practicing. Had my 2nd arrow go down the carbon tube of the 1st and get stuck, it's a piece of art now. But I will never shoot my expensive arrows at the same spot again while practicing 😅
I have a Robin Hood - Second time shooting bow, first time in backyard at 15yrd with 7 arrows in. Blew my mind, took all sort of pics. Have it on the mantle and want to create a 3D frame for it.
In 2002 when I bought my first Mathews (Legacy), I busted a nock and pushed the remainder of it down the shaft with my first two shots, immediately screwing up 2 arrows. I am always zipping a vane off at least once a session, but ever since I started fletching my own, it's not that big a deal anymore.
So I doubt you read all of these but I was super curious about the release you have. Is that "the hinge" and how do you think it compares to "the goat" I'm im need of a new release after my last hunting trip my hinge (Scott longhorn hunter) had a severed band that caused it not to reset after each shot.
My first and only Robin was at 60 yards.... That being said, I don't shoot groups because I hate destroying $20 arrows so no , I wasn't trying, it was accidental I guess. But I figured at 60 yards I wanted to see how close I could get them .... was a cool feeling but sickening at the same time .... the arrows are now displayed on a set of antlers in my man room....... Awsome video
I've Robin Hooded darts several times, but arrows, never. Damaged a lot of arrows, but no Robin Hoods. A friend and I shot over 60 aluminum arrows into a target when we were in high school (mid 80's) several times without removing any arrows and still never got one. A local shooter had two Robin Hoods hanging on his wall at his shop so we thought we'd try and get one, even if we had to cheat. I actually saw one real Robin Hood at a 4th of July event in East Machias around the same time where two shooters were in a shoot off for winner. After three rounds of back and forth bullseyes, a guy named Chris Sprague "Robin Hooded" his competitors arrow. That's a real one in my eyes. He was awarded the win. If only there were cell phones in 85.
Fun video. :-) But yes, I think it is very difficult to make a true Robin Hood shot, intentionally and without cheating. I have been into archery for appr. 35 years and I have only shot 2 robin hood arrows. The first, was when I was young, shooting indoor, at 18 m, with recurve bow and ACC arrows (still have it, but it is detorating, from lying in a window for a long time). The 2nd was not so many years ago, appr. 4 years ago maybe. That was with compound bow at 30 m and with my brand new carbon 3D arrows (Bowfire). And on the first night shooting them, I made a robin hood at 30 m distance. As far as I remember, I think I also did a maid Marian shot, shooting one of my coaches arrows and I have seen both Robin Hood and maid Marian shots happen for example at 3D shoots.
I’ve only ever robin hooded once and it happened to be a double robinhood at 30 yds. New bow and the first shot was way off 2nd shot was where I aimed 3rd shot robinhooded the 2nd arrow and the 4th arrow robinhooded the 3rd arrow. Made for a very cool moment with 3 arrows stuck together.
I had a robin hood my first practice back after years of archery. It seems like from the comments it's not impossible. What I would like to know, what's the likelihood of a double robin hood?
I found this video bc I was wondering how rare it is. I just started shooting. My neighbor gave me his old Matthew's bow to get started. Today I was out shooting at the range with my wife and kids and at 35 yards I got a perfect Robin Hood. I feel a bit guilty and super lucky since it's only like my 5th time shooting. Needless to say, now I'm completely hooked. I also bought a lotto ticket tonight 😂
I did one of these on my first ever archery practice with my bow 🤣 the Local archery store that sold me the bow then told me to save that arrow as a keepsake haha may take me a while to do it again!
My 3rd shot on my first bow, Halon 32 at 20y was a Robin Hood and I was just as excited as I was pissed because I couldn’t afford the arrows at the time.
Ngl been watching all of your videos multiple times and will say two things. 1.) You are one of my most Influential archers (one of the reasons I got my V3 was seeing how well you liked it😂) and 2.) Hmu and come up to Wisconsin on a hunt?
Greetings from kuwait, Can you please do a review or tell us about the same method used in the old Peep sight named "3d peep sight" Which has 2 holes? And you need 2 D-loops for it, i got my Hands on 1 although it's out of Production, but the idea of Shooting Accurately at 100+ Yards with 2 D-loops and 2 Peep holes on 1 bow is interesting, thanks for your videos Chris
I'm very new to our tree hunting. And I'm just getting to grips with my compound bow still. And I accidentally did a Robin Hood earlier today. Both surprised, and disappointed. Because I'm cheap and I wasted to perfectly good arrow.
Robin Hoods used to be fun until my arrows started costing $15-$20 each. LOL I have 37 in total. Including a double. Yes, a double. I still have those up on my wall and could send you a picture if you’d like to see it… LOL. Great shooting. And I love your videos and your channel. Keep up the good work… Thank you
Yo Chris any recommendations on a good bow for long draws like 31.5”- 32” draw length that are not to expensive brought my first bow and wasted all my money on some Chinese topoint bow that’s draw lengths way to small for me😢
If you are specifically looking for a Mathews, I would pick up a used Halon 7, Halon 32-7 or Traverse from EBAY. The Halon 7 draws to 32", and the other two draw to 32.5", and are all over the place online. That would save you some bread on a really nice bow. I have a Traverse and a VXR 31.5 and love both of them, but I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on a well priced Halon just to have one. If you decide that you want to drop serious coin on a new one, the Atlas is a long draw beast.
@@craigbooth103 Ahhh. Ok. I have heard that things like this are ridiculous to get over there. We take it for granted a bit here in the states. We can walk into any pro shop and grab a bow of our liking off the rack.
I’ve robinhooded so many arrows due to fine tuning with length, bare shaft paper tuning even shooting style gripping loosely bend wrist bend elbow consider everything and indoor under perfect conditions at a 3D ibo shoot I once could not find my arrow a acc Easton carbon composite arrow it wound up inside a competitors aluminum arrow fletching striped off after the tournament I remember the other competitors ordering 6 dozen shafts key is to stick to the same arrows for every shot hunting and training grow the sport nowadays I don’t want to destroy the arrows I built so I only train with a Vegas target. Nice try it’ll come when you don’t expect it try working on your breathing technique you do have good form .
Just found this video. I picked up my first bow last week. I haven't shot since I was a kid almost 30 years ago. About 30 arrows in, I Robin Hood an arrow. I think I was between 25 and 30 yards from the target.
I got one the other day at 30 yards. I didn't realize it was that rare haha I was probably only 20 shots in. I better put that arrow up, it was cool, the nock is all twisted up behind the insert. I figured if it wasn't a bullseye it didn't count and it was an inch or so off
i have split many nocks and shafts for about 2 to 4 inches, but i never tubed an arrow. my buddy did it 1st day with his new VXR when he got it last year.
I think Robin Hoods should have to be a called shot. Eventually, mathematically it's only a matter of time before you hit one of your arrows by complete fluke. I did one but only at 10 yards. I placed the first arrow which also had no nock in it. Called it and hit it first try. Second arrow went about 1/3rd of the way into the shaft of the first arrow. It looked really cool how the carbon broke apart.
Well I have actually done it; stuck one arrow into the shaft of another arrow, making one really long arrow. I was shooting at 70 yards, but I shoot a 2012 Hoyt Vector 32.
This one time I went with my grandfather to a 3D archery competition. This fella bragged about his 15 dollar arrow, my grandfather goes “You put your arrow in my way” and completely shattered it at 45 yards
i was shooting for the first time after having just sighted in my bow about 3 years ago my 3rd arrow i had ever shot after being sighted in was a robinhood my buddy who has been shooting for years said thats super rare. i had no idea it was actually this rare and hard to achieve i guess mine was beginners luck or in my case bad luck cause i couldnt afford to replace the 2 arrows i lost lol
Will you be posting ASA vids from Paris and London? Will you be going to Metropolis? I need content bruh. Enjoyed the Foley vid and would like to see more content like that!!!
I’ve only ever got 2 true Robin Hood’s in all my years and they still hang on my big game wall 😂 my 2nd one was when I was buying a new bow so I was getting it tuned in at the shop my 2nd arrow Robinhooded lol
Did it with my recurve bow, it was my first time shooting one, I was like I totally got this traditional archery thing.... haven't hit a dam thing since..
I've done two of my arrows at 20 meters, but unintentionally. If you really don't wanna do it, it happens. Broken nocks, split carbon, but very shallow
I have one robin hood at 20 yards and one at 40. I shot 3 nights in a row at 40 and the first two nights I blew a nock with the 6th arrow each night and on the 3rd night the 6th arrow was the 40 yard robin hood. The next night I only shot 2 arrows the second round (I shoot 3 per round) so the 6th arrow that night could NOT damage another one
Don't shoot a cracked nock because its possible the string will go threw broken nock, then will snap your bow string, it's the carbon arrow that really breaks the string. Not to mention having to reset the bow up. I feel that if your breaking or cracking nocks you got the split. In reality the arrow your trying to split, the sorrow should be made of wood not carbon.
My buddy sent me a photo last week, that cheeky bastard nailed a robinhood and wasn't even trying. I believe him too, the arrow was proper split out but more importantly he wasn't even excited! Poor bloke was too bummed out about breaking one of his arrows 🤣 I guess he technically lost two arrows since i told him to keep them together and frame them 🤣
My favorite Robin Hood, I traveled out of state to join my cousin on a rifle Elk hunt. Brought my bow just to shoot for fun. I had won a 3D competition not long before. My two uncles were heckling me when I took my first shots at 20 yards. I pushed the target back to 40 and Robin Hooded on my third arrow. They stopped heckling.
Then you woke up

I did this back to back. The first one I said "oh cool" the 2nd one I said "well there goes an easy 40 bucks"
Good job on the Robin Hood. But bad for the wallet. Those arrows ain’t cheap. Kills me when I mess one up or lose it.
Pin Nocks.. after 4 robin hoods in a week and 2 splits = $80
You know the statistical odds of doing that? Back to back robin hoods...kinda sus.

My first and only robinhood was at 42 yards. Doing a walk back tune. Thought i had a bad shot, buried the next in the rear of it.
Yessssssssss been waiting for a video for so long! This is the best thing hahah, excited to watch this
I'm very new to our tree hunting. And I'm just getting to grips with my compound bow still. And I accidentally did a Robin Hood earlier today. Both surprised, and disappointed. Because I'm cheap and I wasted to perfectly good arrow.
Woo woo fixing to set up my new ultra view scope I’ll have a video soon !!!!
Robin Hoods used to be fun until my arrows started costing $15-$20 each. LOL I have 37 in total. Including a double. Yes, a double. I still have those up on my wall and could send you a picture if you’d like to see it… LOL. Great shooting. And I love your videos and your channel. Keep up the good work…
Thank you
Yo Chris any recommendations on a good bow for long draws like 31.5”- 32” draw length that are not to expensive brought my first bow and wasted all my money on some Chinese topoint bow that’s draw lengths way to small for me😢
If you are specifically looking for a Mathews, I would pick up a used Halon 7, Halon 32-7 or Traverse from EBAY.
Honestly man I’d love to buy a bow like that but I’m in Australia and everything is so expensive over here
@@craigbooth103 Ahhh. Ok. I have heard that things like this are ridiculous to get over there. We take it for granted a bit here in the states. We can walk into any pro shop and grab a bow of our liking off the rack.
My back and shoulders are sore just from watching this! That's a lot of pulls at that draw weight!
Do you use a back tension for hunting?
I've been shooting since February roughly and I've got 3 Robin hoods so far haha. 2 of them was 1 after the other. Super flukey, but awesome haha.
Hey where do u keep your tension release when you’re hunting?
The shooooooo at the end
It gets expensive but it depends how consistent you are. I once put 8 bolts into each other at dead centre spider 50 yards.
I did this last week with my new maxima photon SD. 9th arrow in, I wasn’t done sighting it in lol.
Chris bee your videos are always cool.
Just a suggestion, I got a TEN POINT arrow puller and it sure saves your hands from getting tired. It works great
Arrow pullers are sweet, must have
Chris. Shafted one at 81 yards on vid.
With the vxr. Video is on my Facebook
Joel Smalligan.
Try and keep up! 😁😁
I got one the other day at 30 yards. I didn't realize it was that rare haha I was probably only 20 shots in. I better put that arrow up, it was cool, the nock is all twisted up behind the insert. I figured if it wasn't a bullseye it didn't count and it was an inch or so off
I have had two, but they were in my back yard and no more than 20 yards away. I have had to replace 6 nocks, cause I switched to pen nocks
i have split many nocks and shafts for about 2 to 4 inches, but i never tubed an arrow. my buddy did it 1st day with his new VXR when he got it last year.
Got my first on February and got my second last month. I like getting Robin Hood’s but it costs money lol
It would be a cool video if you did TRX 34 Vs V3 3. I know you just did a target vs hunting bow but a crossover bow vs hunting bow would be sick
Got a question if my 20yard pin is shooting high should I move my pin up or down?
Up. If pin moves up, you’ll lower your bow to shoot lower.
Hope you can make it to boyne this weekend. You'll probably walk away with another truck. 😆
This one time I went with my grandfather to a 3D archery competition. This fella bragged about his 15 dollar arrow, my grandfather goes “You put your arrow in my way” and completely shattered it at 45 yards
When you stop everything your doing to watch a Chris Bee video
My dad shoots a really old comopound bow it’s like a 40in bow and he told me he use to do it all the time with aluminum arrows
i was shooting for the first time after having just sighted in my bow about 3 years ago my 3rd arrow i had ever shot after being sighted in was a robinhood my buddy who has been shooting for years said thats super rare. i had no idea it was actually this rare and hard to achieve i guess mine was beginners luck or in my case bad luck cause i couldnt afford to replace the 2 arrows i lost lol
I’m new to archery and out of pure luck Robin Hood a arrow with my v3x33 today granted I was only like 15 feet away
Will you be posting ASA vids from Paris and London? Will you be going to Metropolis? I need content bruh.
Enjoyed the Foley vid and would like to see more content like that!!!
I’ve had 2 Robinhoods, one I saved the arrow and it’s on the antlers from the deer I shot that same season. I don’t know where the other one went lol.
first bow, got a traverse with 6 red maximas and bam robbin hood from 45 yards. Would have been cool if i had more than 6 arrows...
I’ve only ever got 2 true Robin Hood’s in all my years and they still hang on my big game wall 😂 my 2nd one was when I was buying a new bow so I was getting it tuned in at the shop my 2nd arrow Robinhooded lol
How many arrows do you usually shoot before fatigue sets in and you notice your shots getting worse?
Just got the bow out last week started testing with 11 arrows down to 9 thanks to Robin
This video just made my day thanks for this video :)
Did it with my recurve bow, it was my first time shooting one, I was like I totally got this traditional archery thing.... haven't hit a dam thing since..
You need to hang that up in the new shop! True trophy 🏆 👌
I've done two of my arrows at 20 meters, but unintentionally. If you really don't wanna do it, it happens. Broken nocks, split carbon, but very shallow
Hey Chris you should get the gearhead bow
Poor bloke was too bummed out about breaking one of his arrows 🤣
I guess he technically lost two arrows since i told him to keep them together and frame them 🤣
